Event Leaders -> Moderators?
By Bassism on 07/10/2009
Simple suggestion really, just a change of name from Event Leader to Moderator. It might start encouraging members to create their own events instead of relying on us to spoonfeed them events. But we'd still be able to do all our Mod CP stuff and update attendance etc.
Opinions?

I would like to see us encourage members to start making their own events, but I don't think the name change is necessary. I still like having staff members who 'leaders' when it comes to events.
All staff should be doing their share of MOD CP work, even though it may seem Event Leaders are doing the most.

Don't think the name change is necessary.
What I think we should do more as event leaders is create events.
So the idea would be, I could create an event in the Aussie timezone even though I know I couldn't attend. People who show up, take the lead on the event. They can make the recap seeing as the creator wasn't there and then we ELs update all the necessary stuff.
So we're still "spoonfeeding" them, but it's more of a "We'll get you started" situation. We give them something to do, they carry it out and then we take care of the other unseen stuff.
This way, events themselves aren't built around our schedules, but instead they're at any time we think would work.
Like I'm hesitant to host events because I'm always in and out of my room. With this, I could host an event during the time I'm in class knowing people are there, carrying it out and making the recap. I get home, update attendance and our activity remains high.

I'm down for that, it'd probs be best if I made ones for the night time Aussie day time GMT timezones, cos then there's still a chance I'll be there. We just need something to get people to start taking responsibility for any inactivity they see instead of just complaining about it all the time.

I like that idea too. It will also show who is stepping up to lead them which will be useful in any future promotions.

I still like attending my own events I make. However that a very viable alternative for when I can't come. Such as my EP gaining event I had to leave in middle of it. Sort of the same thing.

Yeah, not to say we can't attend and lead our own events, but doing things this way, we don't have to be like "Hm, when do I have a free day to attend?" because then we have like one event a week if you're like me and at college and constantly in and out of the dorm.

(12:36:20) <Warior2025_> isnt there an event in 30 mins
(12:36:27) <vephyrus> ya think so
(12:36:37) <Warior2025_> well were the hell is everyone lol
(12:37:35) <vephyrus> wasnt moose hosting it? who is hosting it?
(12:38:30) <Warior2025_> uhh let me go look
(12:43:12) <Warior2025_> zemus
(12:44:41) <Warior2025_> wtf hes not even on
(12:44:47) <Warior2025_> this is what is frustrating me
(12:44:55) <Warior2025_> you make a damn event you better be on for it
(12:45:06) <Warior2025_> this is why im not shure if im going to even stay in wg
(12:45:15) <Warior2025_> no staff members are active
(12:45:24) <Warior2025_> well exsept you
(12:45:40) <vephyrus> im not even supposed to be on today, i skipped school today because im feeling sick&didnt feel well
(12:45:52) <Warior2025_> do you see what im saying
(12:45:59) <Warior2025_> i never see staff on much
(12:46:01) <Warior2025_> or at events
(12:46:06) <Warior2025_> i see you and thats it
(12:46:35) <vephyrus> :\

(12:47:06) <Warior2025_> its like im never going to make trial cause no events are working out for me
(12:47:14) <Warior2025_> the ones i cant go to go on
(12:47:24) <vephyrus> i'll make some for thisweekend and next week
(12:47:25) <Warior2025_> and the ones i can get canceled or dont happen
I won't argue anything, but this speaks for itself better.
This member had to move his schedule around to make this event as well.
We might be losing this member soon. I can't blame him, his complaints are very valid. I wasn't even supposed to be on today but on got on a little bit because I'm home sick. If you are going to leave/not show up at least hand the responsibility to someone else with a good bit of preparation.

Don't want him in the clan.
Can't say much more really.

ARGH. Just cos no event leaders are on doesn't mean the event can't happen. This is what's pissing me off. Members need to start stepping up to lead these if an EL isn't available. Next week, after this busy weekend I'm gonna spam the events forum with events, and I probably wont even be at most of them. This doesn't mean they shouldn't happen.
By DZ on 09/10/2009
Yeah when you post the event just add in a line explaining to them to put it on themselves to do the event on their own because it looks good etc.
