Instant Applications

By His Lordship on 17/10/2009
I've decided to remove the three day wait and the 12 hour application waiting period.
Most spies will wait 3 days if they wanted to.
However 3 days is enough time for an intro to lose interest in WG.

The 3 day wait was not doing its job.
Look at the intro forum. That's a healthy number.

I say, let the intros join and if they can't get along with WG, we'll know in the trial stage.
This is not a lowering of standards. We still demand the same qualities from our applicants.

The wait is being removed so that intros can join WG and enjoy it instantly so that we don't get that loss of interest.

As I am busy IRL I unfortunately can only make the decisions. I need the council to do the labour of changing all the app forms and guides so that the 3 day wait is removed. First council to do this gets a BJ.

At this stage I don't want to change anything else about the application system.
As I see it, we've got a lot of intros and very few applicants.
This is one step to get a better ratio of applicants to intros.

On a related note, don't worry too much about inactivity at this stage in WG's progress ladder. Let the inactives orbit around and attend the odd event. Once we have more members and can afford to push activity, the inactives can be swept. Right now they are more of a plus than a minus, but this will change as we get stronger so if you are an inactive, you're safe for now...

Thought about the post count idea?

From the point of view of an emeritus, it's cool to have fixed raid times: you can plan around the times, save exactly the amount of time needed to raid, and integrate it in your weekly routine... but when one raid out of three is actually held, you start feeling you're wasting your time. I think enforcing strict weekly raids is a good measure to keep a minimum activity in periods of inactivity crisis - if people cbf to make spontaneous raids, at least having the habit of always going out regularly, to avoid being too rusty even if it's boring.

Good move.

I think this is really good change. 3 of my friends introed in past, but they never apply because of 3 days waiting period.

Agree with this. I sorta see what Snow means and think his idea has value.

Maybe keep the post count idea too. If we can't do it now then do it soon.

I didn't know we had a wait period blink.gif

But yeah I think it's a good idea, and I agree with Snow.

I knew of the wait period, but never knew it was really enforced. Good idea and hopefully it improves our applications.
