The orginal idea was posted in level 1 3/4 and can be seen
here if you are able. I would really appreciate if you could take the time to read this because I believe it could change the way our clan is headed.
In this post I will cover:
-My idea
-Activity
-A new graduation system
-A new rewards program
Like I said, the concept of guarding the wilderness and ARPking is a very unique things that most clans can't offer. Eugene has made a few flash movies depicting life in the current RS world, and how we can take the game more into detail than what it appears. Lets be honest here, although we've been playing this game for years, most of our interests are fading if not already gone. How many times can we attend the same events while still maintaining their enjoyment?
Just from what I observed, people seem to have more fun with things out of the ordinary, things
only clans can do. For example, playing Zombie or having a snowball fight. These events are not distinguished Runescape minigames, but player-made experiments. We have a lot of opportunity to think outside the box, it's just about doing it right.
Imagine if we turned the Wilderness Guardians into an experience, not just a clan. The clan world is going through tough times. Most, if not every, clan in the game throws up some events on theirs forums and says attend. We do that... is it working? Well, if you were clanless at the moment and were looking for a clan to join, what would make something click and say "Hey, that clan is different and looks like a great time"? Like I said, not the usual routine.
So now that you understand why I'm suggesting something like this, imagine IF it was done. We could advertise an extraordinary experience that far surpasses anything anyone else can offer. My last post was a bit confusing, let me clarify further.
The Wilderness Guardians clan will have a storyline... like a movie. The main character, yourself, starts out by joining the clan. The beginning would obviously be introducing yourself and posting your application. The only difference is that there would be some dialogue and background about the clan.
Next, the player will become a recruit, otherwise known as a trial guardian. Upon gaining acceptance, they will be set on their first
MISSION. A mission is a series of objectives you must complete. The first mission will include objectives that guide the player into the basics of WG like Teamspeak, IRC, contacting your mentor, and attending five events all while following the story line of the clan. Once the objectives are complete, the player will post his mission briefing in the forum (will be covered shortly) to which it will be looked at by the council.
If graduated, the player is now a guardian and the true story begins. This is the time when they need to learn the true values of ARPking and what their job is as a guardian. Their next mission will be about warring, raiding, and community events. The missions will be along the lines of "Attending 5 raids" or "Attending 10 community events" and will be rewarded respectively. Missions will be posted regularly by the council in the Missions forum, and the events will be hosted by the tertiaries.
Now for the Missions forum. This is not a replacement for the events forum, but instead its own forum. Missions will just be a thread inside the forum, each with details and a briefing of the mission. When a player has completed the mission, they will post their screenies on the thread. The rewards will be GuardianScore points. You still get attendance points for going to events, but GS points for completing missions.
