The Effects of a Bind
By Randy on 02/11/2009
There is no warring without binding. If you come to a war without binds you are missing one of the most fundamental yet important parts of the process to winning. The leaders have never really been all that strict as to check inventories and in reality we shouldn't have to. If you want to win, you bind.
Most people's problem with binding is getting sniped and losing a significant amount of food before you're even piled. But think about it - if you bind the enemy you give our whole clan the opportunity to do damage which can even result in a KO. So what if you take 10 damage from a sniper when we just did 99 to them? After you land a bind, put your rune on, eat, and anti-snipe whoever attacked you. It's that simple.
There will be no more people running around like headless chickens. No more people in full rune towards the end of the war unable to catch the target. If we want to win, we ALL must bind. There shall be no excuses such as "I can't afford runes" or "My connection is bad" (if it's bad then you shouldn't be warring). Unless you have permission from a leader, you bind.
Binding has always been our biggest problem in wars. It's time to work past that. If you're still not sure on what to do, there are many people here who can help you.
It's a team effort.
IF YOU GET KO'D WHILE BINDING, IT SHOWS YOU'RE AT LEAST MAKING AN EFFORT.

Agreed... however i didn't lose 10 hp i got double sniped lost 42hp in robes so the snipes decided to stay with me till i dropped...if we want more efficiency f2p... time for more f2p raids/wars/war practices... we should have these MANDATORY... its part of the clan world to be good at warring... and today wasn't necessarily horrible... but it was approaching. Anyways i had loads of fun.

I always have binds with me.. It's like standard procedure when I take out equipment for wars. But yes, I too saw way too many people who didn't bind and the very few of us who did bind, missed alot of our attempts to hit the opponent. If we could pull like 5-10 more binders it would have a huge impact on the final result.. Yet 5-10 is just a small improvement.

I almost always have binds with me, but I rarely use them.
My point is this . . . WE NEED PRACTICE. If I were to take you to my painting table hand you a brush and say copy this piece I painted, most likely you would fail. How can you even begin to think that all of us will bind if we haven't had practice for ages.
No excuses really, I just want to practice and try to get better. I had a great time tonight anyway. Winning to me is not everything. The leaders just made it fun today.

The thing is, I really do have a bad connection/computer so it is hard for me to bind unless I feel extremely safe. I do usually bind a bit until the first snipe. Hell, it is hard for me to war a lot of times though.
Enough excuses for me. It is a combined effort. If everyone works together, we achieve more. If everyone binds, we increase our potential to win. It all goes hand-in-hand.

I pretty much always hybrid melee/bind on F2P raids... well did anyway...
When you're in deep F2P, THAT's when binds are really the key. I'll start binding in wars as well as soon as I get my mage up.

By XLord_CaimX on 06/11/2009
Ill do my best! I really dont like binding but ill have them from now on.
By Boogers102 on 09/11/2009
I admit I normally don't bind due to I'm usually a target anyways due to my level, however I will make an effort to melee/mage instead of melee/range in order to help our efforts.
Just going to take some getting used to, I hope that we can get some mini-wars in the future so we can all get some practice.
I myself need some practice after being gone for a year, raiding is a bit different that it used to be. But I'm up to the challange of learning how to be a pro tank again.
By XLord_CaimX on 09/11/2009
lol I hear ya, I too quit for almost a year so, the raid was a nice warm up, and binding practise +tanking when i got piled near the end. either way im sure therell be more mini wars.
By Mmangler on 09/11/2009
Heck, I will bind even though I am still trying to get used to warring in general. Yep, every time I do this I think I am getting better but I usually get killed. The cost of learning. Combat magic is even worse than melee but I will try.
By Zemus3654 on 16/11/2009
One thing that really lacked in the war today was binds. At times it was good but for the most part we we're getting dragged all over the place.
We really need to pick up the binds if we expect to win, if any of you need help with binding or anything war-related, just ask me or any other raid leader and we will help you.
By Nick on 16/11/2009
I will take more chances at binding once I get my new computer together and running. Today was just an example for me how bad I really need it.
When switching between robes and rune, sometimes my clicks just move the equipment instead of actually switching. It becomes a huge pain in the ass to attempt to change armour 3 times before it actually switches.
Today, however, I think I did get like 20 binds off. >_>
