Alright, at the recent TS meeting I brought up the idea for making a RuneScape related podcast.
This is something that I've been thinking about doing for a while and I think that it could bring a lot of positive attention to WG if done right.
The reason for this is, there are no real good runescape podcasts out right now, and the podcasting community is quite large.
Most of the RS podcasts out right now are either horrible quality or very unorganized.
If this gets done there are some things that need to be sorted out:
First of all I would need a permanent co-host, maybe two. This co-host would need to be available a set time, for about 2 hour most likely on the weekend. You would need to have a good quality mic, and you would need skype, as that will most likely be the program that we would use to record on. I would also have guest hosts on the show occasionally.
You also need to have a decent knowledge of runescape. Most of the hosts of other podcasts don't do their research, so as long as you do your homework and research it before hand, you'll be fine.
As far as the actual podcast goes, I would like to cover mostly rs news, new quests, old quests, skills, mini games, pking, and the clan world. I would like to use the podcast as a chance to advertise the clan in a discrete way, as the podcast wont be about WG, we will talk about it.
If this podcast is succesful, it could bring in a lot of members. Just as an example, I listen to a WoW podcast called The Instance, and they have the largest guild in the US. They have 5,537 members currently , and they grow every month.
Alea Iacta Est - WoW ArmoryNow obviously there are huge differences in the size of the wow community and the rs community. But the principle is still there.
This is something that would take a team effort, I would need a site to host an RSS feed, I need someone who might be able to make a good quality theme song, going to need to come up with a name, something one worded, and catchy. Possibly something WG related. The Guardian? Heh idk, this is the brainstorming stage. Like I said before, if I'm going to spend time and resources on this, I want it to be done right.
So to wrap it up, I'd like to hear some feedback from you guys:
Is this something you would listen to?
What do you want to hear in a podcast?
Do you already listen to podcasts? If so which ones.
Do you think the general RS community would want an RS podcast?
Is this something you could help advertise? Via word of mouth, forums, etc.
Alright that's all for now, what do you think?
