Event Leaders

We need more. Discuss?
I'm kinda growing lil disinterested in RS at the moment. I don't know how motivated I am to making a lot of events right now. Just a heads up to anyone reading this...

We do need more, vephyrus is soloing it..Cmon council....

The event leader rank seems to have a negative effect on people. It's a draining amount of work and the turnouts are awful. I think before we get more we should redesign the rank ( and event system?).

Sunday nights, seem to be the best time.
By Randy on 13/11/2009
I should probably further clarify on my previous statements.
I did not mean event leaders as people have a negative effect on the clan, I meant the rank has a negative effect on those who take it. This of course isn't always the case, I mean Vephy has done a terrific job of making events look more appealing (except now he appears to be disinterested which is my point). It just seems to me like being an Event Leader goes like this: You create events in which you believe are fun -> the turnouts are usually not good, which turns into disapointment -> the event leaders are discouraged from making events because of this.
I know this isn't a fact but it's just something I think is the problem. Is creating MORE event leaders the soultion? or will they just fade out? Of course we need one or two more to help out Vephy, but the rank itself definantely needs work.
I don't really know of any clear solution. People only do what they think is fun, we can't force them to go to anything. WG has always been labeled as a community clan. We have mandatory sign ups for PvP events but not for communit events. Making sign ups for Castlewars just seems a bit silly, ya know? And it's hard using other clans as examples because i'm sure they have the same problems too.
Here's a thought though:
What if we find out the BEST times for WG members to be online and create a in-game clan meeting (at a PoH or something). At the meeting we'll decide what we feel like doing - GWD, SC, etc. Sounds silly on second thought but idk.
By George on 13/11/2009
It's a good idea, but a little implausible as people wouldn't know what to prepare for, what items to get, armour, weapons etc.
But yes I agree we do need 2 more event leaders.
By DZ on 13/11/2009
I don't think much can be done to change the rank but yeah we need more.
By Zemus3654 on 13/11/2009
this was mentioned earlier in level 3, but how about changing the title to moderator, and maybe have more of a moderating role then event (they will still make/lead events though)
As there seems to be a very little amount of other members stepping up to make events, maybe because they feel it is the event leaders job, maybe clarify on that?

I always thought it was my job lol. But it is sad that members don't make em' because they think it is my job. It isn't too hard to make an event every once in awhile. Probably beats going to my events all time... I'm only one time zone, what about aussie, gmt and such? I can't represent them well.

It seems hard to engage members sometimes though. If we can find a way to engage them into this idea it would be very good.
By George on 14/11/2009
That's why Randy's mission plan was so good, because one of the missions was for the member to make their own event
By Lee on 14/11/2009
Just open event leader apps.
By His Lordship on 15/11/2009
Apps are a bandaid fix but will buy us some time.
We need to redesign the rank as Randy said.
Post thoughts about what the new rank would involve.
I'll go away and think about it.
By George on 15/11/2009
I really don't think changing the rank to moderator would solve anything at all.
However we do need to SOMEHOW encourage members to start making their own events. What I have been doing is:
Markenzie came to me a few weeks ago and asked if he was like doing well in WG. I said yes yes you're active etc and then said, but it couldn't hurt to host an event or two... and he went away and hosted one

I pro

Ya tons of people ask me if they can make events. I always say yes. We had sorta a surge of that last week.
