Do you regret finding out about RS?

By Bambaleo on 24/11/2009
Well thanks to the adventurers blog we now know how much time we have already waisted on RS hash.png

so do you regret starting playing RS?

well, to be honest...i probably do regret it. Think of things you could have acchieved in these 223 or maybe even 375 days that were spent klicking a mouse button tongue.gif

By Colinwarrior on 24/11/2009
Yes.

I could have spent all that time out chasing girls, hanging with friends, practicing drums/guitar, getting a job, etc etc...

Had I done those things instead, maybe I would actually be good at something other than playing video games.

By WG_Keanu on 24/11/2009
No.

Cause then no WG. hash.png

By Elyxiatic on 24/11/2009
No.
I've met a lot of lifelong friends in WG.

By Kiwi011 on 24/11/2009
meh, wg did increase my social skills quite a bit and I keep playing new games instad of doing other shit so I can't say I regret it, however, the loss of time is kind of a punch in the face.

Yeah :[

By rachellove9 on 24/11/2009
I have a lot of friends online. It's kept me away from someone.

By sgtswordfish on 24/11/2009
i knew the offsets of runescape and came prepared.

the amount of days and time spend on rs have been well spend at reaping rewards. real life has been going according to its patron. my bonds with family and friends in real life are as strong as ever.

i have no regrets =D

By Pyroclastic0 on 24/11/2009
if it hadn't been runescape it would have been some other game or games

By Kyle on 24/11/2009
Don't regret it at all.
I've met people that have probably kept me from doing some really, really stupid things in life.

By Eregion2 on 24/11/2009
Nah. Without RS I never would have started playing WoW.

Speaking of which, why are you all still here? Mage tables = free cookies. Sheesh.

By Indivi2you on 24/11/2009
Yes i regret it, and i regretted it even a couple years ago. Yet i continue to play, because even though it does take time, i can do everything else needed to live life.

It's called time management, and i have good skills in that department.

By Sxe Asher on 24/11/2009
ehh it goes both ways.

i like my life at the moment but sure, if i didn't play runescape i could spend more time playing sports or whatever. but ive also learned alot of important life lessons that i probally wouldnt have learned w/o rs.

By Onathe on 24/11/2009

Course i regret it, its a shit game, only good thing about the game is the people that play it.

If you use RS just to fill gaps of boredom in your life its not too bad.

I'll never choose RS over RL, there was a time i did, but i was too young to drink, and didn't like hanging on the streets. Now i can do what i want, and i do do what i want biggrin.gif

By Dallar on 25/11/2009
I don't regret it.. I enjoy playing it and I enjoy my social life equal. Why do something that you regret? Waste of life.

By Randy on 25/11/2009
I'll be honest, there are SOME times I wish I didn't play this game, my social life has definitely been affected. But, there have been many many positive outcomes. I've met a lot of great people, learned a lot from WG (people with different views, leadership, and people of different backgrounds), and other tidbits of info like computers and ss00f

By Boogers102 on 25/11/2009
I don't regret the times i've spent playing this game, or the time spent in WG, Ive met a lot of great people that I'll continue to be friends with for life.

I've met alot of great people here, but alot of times I wish I didnt spend as much time. I would still play RS if I went back, but nowhere near as much.

By Dorcha3377 on 25/11/2009
No I can never regret the friends I have made here. They are no less real because they are on the computer.

Except me. I'm just a server in an empty room. OH SHI-

But back to the subject at hand, while had I not found RS I could have done much more worthwhile things with my time, i've definitely been changed by the experience for the better (Just ask anyone who was around when I joined) so it's hard to regret that.

By Quikdrawjoe on 25/11/2009
If life is so great why do people play video games in the first place? hash.png

By Nick on 25/11/2009
I do not regret it at all. I have met people online that I am highly interested in meeting in real life, and overall, have a better knowledge of world-wide cultures than many other people at my age at my school.

Pretty much, it is all a learning experience. The thing I regret is starting dating the girls that I have, because they are the ones that have pulled me away from the life that I currently wish I was a part of.

By Kiwi011 on 25/11/2009
while on this topic, i was playing Counterstrike today and he lives in Colorado Springs as well. We are gonna go chill tomorrow at the hookah bar since im underage =P

not to mention in WOW i met 3 people going to the School of Minds about 2 hrs away from me that I plan on meeting sometime in the future.......nah, I don't regret it at all.

By Jayson on 25/11/2009
yea man, i could have spent that time working or stuff. i think i think its more of a waste since i worked on my account for ages then got banned

This.

I suck at time management and lack sufficient common sense for survival but hey, I enjoy what I do. I play RS for leisure and I have a social life as well which makes me broke and more inactive than half the council.

Yeah, why waste your life trying to be successful, just enjoy it.

By For Sooth on 01/12/2009
I would love to know what my life woulda been like without RS. Wonderful Life please.

By Light Sabre on 05/12/2009
I don't think time playing RS is regretable, it's something to do when there is nothing else to do, or when you can't do something else. You wouldn't be able to keep yourself entertained for that long without RS with nothing to do.

By His Lordship on 05/12/2009
Runescape has drawn me away from shiver chunk of the rest of my life, but I do not regret it. Yes, my social life and school grades took a hit, but I was learning many important skills, namely leadership, web design, advertising, html, world cultures, time zone, time management, friendship building skills, and so many other things. I am a better person for being in wg. If it was just runescape then yes, I would regret

By Mochacho456 on 08/12/2009
I nulled my vote.

I wasted a lot of time.
I also made some good friends.

By I K0 Pure I on 08/12/2009
I dont play that much, so no. I enjoy playing it on my spare time :>

By Firelion08 on 15/12/2009
Not at all. I learned some good lessons from RS: patience, caution, foresight, etc.
Although, a lot of those values were there from the beginning, my experiences in RS helped build on them.

The years I spent on RS would have probably been "better" had I done other, more productive things... but I know there are some people that will never know the crap we've been through... and, in my opinion, that gives us a certain advantage of our own in life.

By Snowzak on 15/12/2009
Perhaps I regret spending too much time on the game itself.

But without experiencing WG I probably wouldn't be the same person today, and I f'in like it being me. hash.png

By Kero2 on 16/12/2009
WG is what shaped me positively.

Runescape just brought me to WG, aside from that it ruined me

By Renegade3540 on 18/12/2009
Do I regret finding out about RuneScape?

No, not really. As said before it helped mature me as a person and it did help me gain some skills. Maybe I my life could have been better without finding out about RuneScape, but at the same time it might have turned for the worse as well. I'm happy with where my life is at the moment and the direction it's headed.

By Sum-41xx on 18/12/2009
Never regret anything you do in life tongue.gif
In turn I don't regret runescape.

By Chappell44 on 19/12/2009
in a way i do but in another i dont ive met so many great freinds over rs e.g steve and lee i love the most and i spent over 410 days on rs gf my life?

By Rodney75 on 19/12/2009
Everyone who said yes always backs it up with: "So i could do more in real life" "learned guitar" etc etc.

Well, I did them things along side playing runescape. Runescape is just there for your spare time when nothing else is happening.

All those who wished they had done more, shouldn't have put in the hours they did. I learned guitar, played in multiple teams, got good grades etc etc whilst I had an account - and still managed good levels.

And on top of this, I met some very interesting characters and made some good friends over the years.

So I don't see the problem, of course I don't regret it. It was a side hobby,

and anyway, back in the day I made over £100 selling gold lol biggrin.gif

By Tnuac on 19/12/2009
Why regret something you've done in the past? You should look back and enjoy the good times.

I started RS in 2002, and i've had so many good times from it, both in the game and with the people i've met through it, and that's literally 100's of people. I didn't let it take over my life, had a great time in RL alongside it. Learnt so many skills from being in clans. Its actually going to stick with me for the rest of my life: leadership, diplomacy, decision-making, sorting heated arguments, appreciating the differences deep down between people. Its been an invaluable experience.

During uni term times, i never play RS. I party it up with friends, learn to cook, breakdance for cash, and work towards getting a degree. And when i come back, i look forward to playing RS again when i'm not out with mates or family. Its a perfect filler. If you regret doing something, stop. If you can't stop, you clearly don't regret it.

By Gibble00 on 25/12/2009
As someone who quit playing RS you might think that would regret all the time that I put into it, much more than any other video game or hobby of mine; however, even though I didn't really maintain any of my strong online friendships, but I still think that it was worth it. I had a really fun time with WG and the people in it. RS was the only MMORPG I ever played and I think it was fun to be immersed in that kind of experience for a while.

I think there are some real-world things you learn from a game like this. I was the leader of DG for a while and there are some sort of people-management skills you get from working with an internet forum like this with people of all sorts. The game itself teaches you some intense time managements skills (especially when balancing with RL stuff); you want to gain a few levels before a war, you work out some experience gains per hour, what you need to do it, etc. etc. I think I'm good with time management, I stay busy, I get a lot of studying done quickly compared to my friends, I go out, and I have thought about how it may relate back to the kind of time management I learned from playing RS.
