Council Election Nominations

Listen. WG needs a new council member who KNOWS they can change things. This is no joke. Whoever wins these elections is expected to work overtime. This is a fair warning. You need to literally have no life for the work you'll be doing, and STILL maintain ingame activity.

The Council is striving for more moderating type Council and a Council that looks for member feedback and so on. A Council that will never ignore a pm on IRC or on Forums. Someone that will always have the time to listen to anyone with a problem or query. Someone who is ALWAYS kind in what they speak. Someone that is never racist and has self-control. This person will also be doing a lot of forum work as well as IRC work. This person's communication with the clan is vital. Timezone is also very important for this person, they have to be most of the time at which most of the clan is on. Along with all this, they have to be Event active, they have to go to Events, we need a Council out there to support the clan in every event, it'll certainly be inspiring. |

So in summary we are looking for:
- Calm
- Someone that is good at comforting people
- Have a quality to boost morale when down
- Previous experience of ACP/Mod CP/IRC Commands would be hugely encouraged
- Have a Microphone for Teamspeak and is not afraid to speak openly
- Would be open to constructive criticism
- Cope under pressure and stress
- Would not mind spending 4-5 Hours doing forum work (For example, setting up a training programme and so on)
- Would know how to settle disputes between 2 or more members
- Would ALWAYS reply to EVERY pm or other means of communication from members
The importance of the Council Rank

This rank, Council rank, I can't stress how much **** it put through many Council members. Ask anyone who has been Council, they'll explain. You might think "Yeah, I'm prepared for this" - Heck, So did I, but I really had no clue what I was really in store for me. You might bug a Council member to do Apps or do something at a time, and go 'Oh If I was Council, I'd do that' but you will really have no idea unless you have been Council before. This rank has broken many many people. Lifespan of Council is usually, approximately, rather, 6 months I'd say. It's hard to last long in a job you're not getting payed for. You'll be able to realise 'Why am I doing this? What is the purpose' - Then you answer that question yourself 'Because I love this clan, I love my friends here, I want to make them happy' - THAT is your payment, THAT is what motivates you in Council. Council Rank is the ultimate test, if you don't do well at it, you will be criticised by the clan whether you like it or not, you will have to be able to withstand that criticism and act positively to it. Council Members make mistakes, Primary Leaders make mistakes, but they are ordinary human beings just like yourself, they will learn from mistakes. But many people don't understand the concept, which is exactly why the pressure mounts & mounts on a Council Member. I'm going to quote Elias from old forums:

-When you decide to resign from Council, you must give us a two weeks notice, and you cannot leave earlier, you must understand that if you leave earlier, you will be banned and added to the Hall of Shame

Good Luck getting new council. I hope you are active, not self centered and good with members. If you get in and go on a power trip, Don't worry, I will tell you about it. lol
Be very careful who you vote for. Council changes your friends and they are not the same people once they get the promotion. Vote for who will do the very best for the clan and not someone that will lead for their own agenda or power trip. We don't need our buddy in, we need a good active leader.

Hmm, seems like i rejoined WG like a month too late haha.
Would finally love my shot at council after my last application when Gorge was promoted.
I will really like to see who steps up and applies, because this will need alot of activity and alot of leadership and of course, alot of hard work.

To my fellow Guardians:
Based on the requirements stated in this thread, I believe that I possess a unique mix of experience, knowledge, and skills that can definitely help the clan in this critical time of need for a council member.
Many of you know me well through long conversations in pm, ts and msn. My experience, skills, and abilities that I can offer the clan go beyond an online game.
Just as Abs describes here, I believe I qualify for this positon.

Application for Council
1. Have you read and understood the warning?
Yes. I read the warning and have considered it before applying.
I can handle extreme conflict when the need arises and deal with fair punishments when necessary. I've already proven this by turning in a clan mate for something very severe in the past and my experiences with bias treatment have made me a stronger person. Being pleasant and nice is my preferred nature but I am very capable of being a strong leader that can deal with the pressures of extreme problems.
Only a complete fool would not listen to criticism and try to change their ways. Through my time in WG I have often been put to the test on this one. I'm able to get over it and move on a better person for it.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
* My experience in the clan from being a member for almost 2 years.
* I can handle the pressures of the desires of the members and making tough decisions.
* My consistently of being a loyal and active member of the clan.
* I have extensive team management and team building experience in RL
* Excellent grasp of "one to one" member relationships and how to deal with it.
* Ability to work effectively in a multi-tasking environment.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
No. Nothing that I have planned.
4. Why are you applying for council?
I am confident that my ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with my fellow guardians will benefit WG as it has been for some time. I believe that my excellent record of success in maturity, winning back members from leaving, and increasing friendliness in the clan, clearly demonstrates my proven ability to meet and resolve problem and challenges that arrise and adds to the clans success. I enjoy being helpful and playing RS with my clan mates. Getting to know all the members is one of the most rewarding experiences of playing RS.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
I see our community as one of the best in the clan world. This is why most of us stay in WG or the reason why many return. I will keep this as a focus to assure the future of our success.
Community alone will not keep us a happy clan. Things need to be done and handled on a prompt nature. I will do my best to respond to all issues as quickly and efficiently as possible. I believe I have the personality that can motivate others to be active and to have loyalty in times of distress.
I will be playing RS with all of you and enjoying your company. We need to keep friendships active and have fun together. Whether it is joking about pnsbutt or just simply going on raids together. I see the importance of daily chatting to members and helping them whenever I can.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
I never like this question, as I see all of us as equals. I have had the honor of being voted by our staff two times to be MOTM in a years time. This shows the level of dedication I have to the clan. I've moved up in rank to be an Elite guardian. I've won Friendlist Member every time since I came to the clan. Although these accompliments are something to be proud of, I do think of my self above the clan. I try to put the clan first always in my decisions.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
My kind and loving spirit could be a weakness or the greatest strength. I have learned that there are times when you can be kind and still be firm and unwavering to the behavior that you are trying to modify. I'm very forgiving and want to believe in the good of mankind.
8. Is there anything else you would like to say?
I've been thinking about this for a long time. It's not something I take lightly. I really appreciate all the people that talked to me about my applying and helped me through my decision. I will do my very best to not let you let down, if I get the council position. I will still do the ts meetings and plan events cause I love to do that too.
If not elected, I will continue to be happy with the rank I have and all my friends here.

Looking at my real life situation right now actually aids me here. Losing my job has provided me with a lot of free time to dedicate and give back to the clan that's rewarded me with many years of plesant experiences.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
No.
4. Why are you applying for council?
Because I feel WG is in need of repair.
Because I feel WG requires somebody experienced and dedicated to turn them in the right direction to achieve serious recognition in the clan world.
Because I feel we a leader that can be online, in game and on the forums daily.
Because I feel... that I can provide all that and more, if given the chance.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
My primary objective is to put us back on the map. I want to see WG right back up there in the thick of it, in competition for a top 10 ranking. We have the potential. We have the members and dedication. All we need is putting on track. I can do that.
However, I will not neglect the skilling and events side of the clan in my work. I feel that these are what build our superb community and they are in fact key to helping us perform in the wilderness.

I speak my mind and say it how I think it is. Which isn't necessarily a good thing in certain situations. I think it's the thing I have to work upon most.

The clan will go in one of two directions after this election.

Fighting.
A vote for me, is a vote for the ascension back to being a top fighting clan.

The Application.
1. Have you read and understood the warning?
I have read and understood all of the warnings that were giving from His_Lordship and Abs, and I feel that it is my time to step up and help out WG to the best of my abilities.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
I’m the kind of person that likes to work with people, I hate office jobs because they are anti-social, sitting in your cubicle for 8 hours a day with little human contact, it’s not for me. I like to listen to people, and once people start talking to me, they feel comfortable sharing their life experiences with me. I have a great ability to have people open up to me. Communication is one of the major leadership skills that a member of council needs to have, and this is one of my greatest strengths.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
No, I don’t have anything coming up in the next 6 months.
4. Why are you applying for council?
I am applying for council because I’ve been a loyal member of WG since the summer of 2007, and during the time I’ve spent here WG has become more than just a clan but also my family (often a dysfunctional family). I’ve made connections here that will last a lifetime, you guys are my family, and I care about you guys, and the welfare of the clan. Recently our current council members have not been putting in all the work that they agreed to when they were accepted as council, which is why I asked for elections to open. I feel that I am ready to help keep WG on the right path, right now I feel we have this tremendous amount of potential that we are letting to go to waste, and we just need direction in order to show the clan world how great of a clan we really are.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
The leaders of WG need to step up their game, there is a trickle effect of laziness that has been going through the clan, and this needs to be fixed. Having inactive council is unacceptable. Council members need to be the most active members, they need to be the role models for the rest of the clan, as of right now people are following their lead. We have semi-inactive council, which leads to we a semi-inactive clan. So as Council I will enforce activity among all of the leaders, and give them a chance to step up. Also I will give them a reminder that their position is NOT permanent, and WG does NOT need inactive leadership, we deserve better.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
I have previous leadership skills, not only in the game, but in real life. My 1st job was at a grocery store. I started there when I was 17, and as soon as I turned 18, I was asked to become a Shift Supervisor, I was the only male supervisor, and I was also the youngest. The reason why I was asked to be a shift supervisor is because I’m mature for my age (I’m 20 now, but some say I’m already middle aged. #), I work well with others, and I have charisma. These characteristics are what sets me apart from others.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
My greatest weakness used to be my age, being so young trying to manage grown adults, it was hard to earn their respect in the beginning because they would judge me before they got to know me. But as soon as they began to see how I led the team, the mutual respect began to grow between us and they would trust the choices I made and would listen to what I had to say.
8. Is there anything else you would like to say?
Do not let these elections be a popularity contest, your duty as a Wilderness Guardian is to vote for who you think is the best fit for the job. You need to look at everything, ask yourself if you think this person can handle the pressure, and most importantly you need to ask yourself if this is someone you want to follow, someone who you can learn to trust with the responsibilities of guiding the clan in the right direction.

Yes, I understand that it is my duty to give the clan 2 weeks notice before stepping down.

The Application.

I have read and understood all of the warnings that were giving from His_Lordship and Abs, and I feel that it is my time to step up and help out WG to the best of my abilities.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
I’m the kind of person that likes to work with people, I hate office jobs because they are anti-social, sitting in your cubicle for 8 hours a day with little human contact, it’s not for me. I like to listen to people, and once people start talking to me, they feel comfortable sharing their life experiences with me. I have a great ability to have people open up to me. Communication is one of the major leadership skills that a member of council needs to have, and this is one of my greatest strengths.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
No, I don’t have anything coming up in the next 6 months.
4. Why are you applying for council?
I am applying for council because I’ve been a loyal member of WG since the summer of 2007, and during the time I’ve spent here WG has become more than just a clan but also my family (often a dysfunctional family
). I’ve made connections here that will last a lifetime, you guys are my family, and I care about you guys, and the welfare of the clan. Recently our current council members have not been putting in all the work that they agreed to when they were accepted as council, which is why I asked for elections to open. I feel that I am ready to help keep WG on the right path, right now I feel we have this tremendous amount of potential that we are letting to go to waste, and we just need direction in order to show the clan world how great of a clan we really are. 5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
The leaders of WG need to step up their game, there is a trickle effect of laziness that has been going through the clan, and this needs to be fixed. Having inactive council is unacceptable. Council members need to be the most active members, they need to be the role models for the rest of the clan, as of right now people are following their lead. We have semi-inactive council, which leads to we a semi-inactive clan. So as Council I will enforce activity among all of the leaders, and give them a chance to step up. Also I will give them a reminder that their position is NOT permanent, and WG does NOT need inactive leadership, we deserve better.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
I have previous leadership skills, not only in the game, but in real life. My 1st job was at a grocery store. I started there when I was 17, and as soon as I turned 18, I was asked to become a Shift Supervisor, I was the only male supervisor, and I was also the youngest. The reason why I was asked to be a shift supervisor is because I’m mature for my age (I’m 20 now, but some say I’m already middle aged. #), I work well with others, and I have charisma. These characteristics are what sets me apart from others.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
My greatest weakness used to be my age, being so young trying to manage grown adults, it was hard to earn their respect in the beginning because they would judge me before they got to know me. But as soon as they began to see how I led the team, the mutual respect began to grow between us and they would trust the choices I made and would listen to what I had to say.
8. Is there anything else you would like to say?
Do not let these elections be a popularity contest, your duty as a Wilderness Guardian is to vote for who you think is the best fit for the job. You need to look at everything, ask yourself if you think this person can handle the pressure, and most importantly you need to ask yourself if this is someone you want to follow, someone who you can learn to trust with the responsibilities of guiding the clan in the right direction.
9. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
Yes, I understand that it is my duty to give the clan 2 weeks notice before stepping down.

I've had an unwaivering devotion to WG since a little over a year ago when I was accepted, and have been one of the most loyal, and most active members in WG, through the hard times and the good times. I've also had past experience in leadership roles (granted not in a "clan" per say, but a cult) and I know what I'm up for and I am more than ready for it. I'm a hard worker, and I enjoy being in a leadership position and creating new things and policies for the clan, and (hopefully) making WG a better place.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

Most clans nowadays when you mention WG say things such as "LOL WG", "Wg's still alive?", "I thought they died 2 years ago lol...", "ROFL HIS LORDSHIP NOTHING LEFT LOLOLOLLOLOLSGSJGLG", and "Wow that Darth kid is a shit tank." I want them to be scared of us again. I want them to know who we are. I want to regain the respect that we once had. However respect is earned and not given, and I hope to help us earn the respect of the clan world once again.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
Activity Activity Activity.
Although there are a few problems slowing down the clan, I think that most if not al can be traced back to activity. Plain and simple, we're not active, regardless of what you all think. Our pull to the MoD PKRI was what 36 with 5 emeritus's? That's pathetic, that's only 50% of our ML, we should be pulling that to day prep's. We can't even compete with some clans that our on our level simply because they are more active than us.
Here's my simple breakdown:
Actvity > Good Pulls > Wins > More Members > Can compete with more clans > Former Glory restored.

It's a harsher system, but being nice hasn't worked to well for us thus far.
Many think that gaining more members and actually being good will hurt our community, but our community was best when we were a top clan, were we not?

Nothing. All are good applicants and I wouldn't want to take anything away from them. All are my friends and I wouldn't want to do anything to try and outshine them, for they all deserve it as much as I.

I don't really think I have a "weakness" per say. I get a tad frustrated though when people do anything to hurt this clan or put it down. (skip wars, don't sign up, go inactive for no reason, etc.). And I can be a bit stubborn at times, but I've learned to curb it over time.
8. Is there anything else you would like to say?
We can do this. I know for a fact that we can. We just all need to believe in ourselves, and work together as a team.

No, I don't understand the warning at all. I wrote it while I was highly intoxicated. I believe it was Malibu and tropical punch. I don't think I've even read it since the time I wrote it. SO the short answer is no, I have not read and understood the warning.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
Well, I have been in this clan for six years now and the experience I have accumulated could be put to good use. I can't really think of anyone on the top of my head that has dedicated more time to WG over the years. Admittedly I have left the clan for a short 3-4 month period, but returned having realised how much I love WG. The act of leaving is strong, but the act of returning is even stronger. To have left WG that one time, and return, shows a lesson hard learned. I would say it takes a truly dedicated member to return after being cast out of his or her clan, and that's what I did. This stands as testament to my dedication, and therefore my durability in a leadership position.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
I will be on vacation for the next few weeks, but after my return, I will be free to continue giving my all to the clan I love. Actually, over the course of 2010, it is likely that I will become increasingly active.
4. Why are you applying for council?
Ah, the million dollar question. Mostly for shits and giggles, and I am slightly intoxicated. How unlike me to do stupid things when I'm drunk (SEE STEVE?! You're not the only one who can make old-skool jokes). I also think I could use a little bit more attention.
Oh yeah and all that flowery bullshit about how much I want to help the clan.

WG needs recruitment above all other things. We have always been a clan that drew strength from numbers, and the greatest minds of our history knew this, such as Kenshln. As a council member, I will enforce requirements for members to actively participate in recruitment, and I will return WG to its old ways.
AntiRPKing and the historic codes of honour. They have been dormant for a long time, but not dead. If we resurrect these, and find a cause to fight for, not only will activity pick up, but also recruitment. It is clear that many members joined because they fell in love with our cause. I will bring that cause back to life.
Before all else though, WG needs a sense of fun. I want to make it so that when you are in WG, you are living the moment and not working in frustration. Tertiary leaders sometimes get unhappy with a lack of progress, and these goals they have set are good, but I think I will try to let them know that they have time to stop and smell the roses.

Sometimes, I can't give as much time as I should. I have all the skills, which I spent six years fine-tuning and working out, and I have all the resources and a great team that supports me. A vote for me is a vote taken away from the other candidates. As I am already primary leader (and Darth said everyone is eligible), me winning would mean the council stays the same. This is particularly good if you don't like any of the other douchebags who applied.

Ok so i've seen the layout for this application but things make me think i have better ways to do this. So without nothing more to say heres my Application.
As a member you might want to know how long the person running for council has been part of the clan community its self. Maybe not how long they have been a member but how long they have been around. Because lets admit it 6 years of spending time with the clan is worth a lot. So this brings me to my point. You have a Few good people to pick from. But as of right now Lordy seems to be your best bet. But i'm here to change that.
This is to show you that i have infact been part of this community way longer than most of you. Sure i havn't been in the clan for that long but back in those days it wasn't about being a member it was about being friends. I feel i would make a great council member Look at the years i've been beside this clan and i've only gotten closer to every one of you. Sure a few good people like Tmal left but the main people are sticking in there. So look at that picture and check my joined date for the forums. That will be enough proof that i am set on this clan and that i should be able to run for council.

Ok so i've seen the layout for this application but things make me think i have better ways to do this. So without nothing more to say heres my Application.
As a member you might want to know how long the person running for council has been part of the clan community its self. Maybe not how long they have been a member but how long they have been around. Because lets admit it 6 years of spending time with the clan is worth a lot. So this brings me to my point. You have a Few good people to pick from. But as of right now Lordy seems to be your best bet. But i'm here to change that.
This is to show you that i have infact been part of this community way longer than most of you. Sure i havn't been in the clan for that long but back in those days it wasn't about being a member it was about being friends. ... considering my current status in WG ontop of 40% warn I can't really say that without adding that was a joke, I respect the council and the amount of effort and dedication that they put in to WG... good luck everyone...
