I played aion as a sin(hella fun)with like 10 other people I knew from Wow and we were doing pretty well. I got to level 35 and then played a game of counterstrike source.....and got addicted to css again and didnt touch it. the others got bored of the level grind. I didnt mind the grind(i played runescape wut grind are u talking about lul). But yea, Aion is way better than wow IMO. Wow is a dieing game.....aion at least was fun and i didnt spend 3hrs running in circles in dal doing nothing. In aion at least I was doing something. Not to mention wow pvp was hella unbalanced in its theory that anyone should kill anoyone. Aion had it right imo. But yea, its def a good game. WOW killer? Wow wont die till blizz says it should. |

Tbh, I could deal with the player mechanics, I just don't like the theme; it's just too sensually Asian. I like dark fantasy with haunted castles and evil dragons and gritty necromancers and crap. The whole shiny aspect of "oh look at me I'm a pretty lethal little angel" is a huge turn-off. I know it's badass in its own right, but it's not up my alley at all. And another thing. Matt was telling me about how the combat rotation is tons more involved than WoW has, which is neat. But personally I'd prefer to get away from a rotation at all. The most enjoyable player style of any MMO I've played was D&DO, when you took your warrior grabbed a two-handed battleaxe and just waded into a horde of kobolds swinging left and right. Not having to actually TARGET what you wanted to hit was brilliant (even ranged could do it, rangers/sorcerers/wizards were a bunch of fun). Being able to dodge most spells by just being quick on your feet, huge diversification of character skills through multiple ways of applying each class while being able to mutli-class on top of that... It's just a shame the actual encounters sucked, everything else was wicked. But yeah, Aion is totally going down the wrong path for me to be interested. Have fun though. ![]() |

Meet my friend, Diablo 2! Boss encounters blow in D2 as well though, they are all solo-able. |

They're just too goddamn pristine. I can't explain it, it's just a total, subtle, but complete difference underlying the whole way the game is designed and elaborated on that doesn't sit well with me at all. There's definitely things I don't like about WoW, but at least it doesn't sparkle like one of Stephenie Meyer's twilight vampires. ![]() There's just this whole undercurrent of... strangeness... to it all. I mean, seriously. Aion characters look like they're one step away from throwing down their weapons and deciding the outcome of their PvP encounters by seeing who can do the most pirouettes. Tell me half your attacks and/or battle stances don't look like ballet poses. So yeah, if you ever develop this insane urge to take up ballet, don't say I didn't warn you! PS: If there's a free trial available over the holidays I may give it a shot. We'll see. |

"Aion wuts dat???" ^If this is you, click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iKX4aBXsYg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8E2IFbwO3w I got it about 2 weeks ago, and I'm fairly satisfied with it so far. I'm lvling a Chanter (currently 15; Fregion server) as my main, and plan on starting a sin and glad. We have a lot of WoW players here, so I anticipate a little hate... but does anyone else see the amount of potential this game has? It parallels WoW in general gamestyle (which I don't look down on; WoW is a great game), but they utilize a lot of things WoW hasn't yet... and the prodominantly Asian-influenced art style brings with it its own avenue of mythological and world design possibilities. While fighting with my Chanter, I realized I couldn't go back to WoW without feeling at a loss (especially if I were to go staff). The fighting system is considerably fluent for its style, and the animations can be very dynamic. I wouldn't say it is or will be better than WoW -- atleast not objectively -- but I do think, depending on it's content growth, it could definitely compete at that level. Any other Aion nerds here? |
