Event Leader is NOT a position to take lightly. You will more than likely get abuse from members for random crap(LOL CAN'T TANK, GO DO RECAP), etc etc. If you can't take pressure, Event Leader is not for you.

What do you have to offer as an Event Leader?
I like events.
There seems to be a divide between the pvpers and the eventy guys. I want to bridge that gap. It's a given that we wont get Stokenut down to the old trawler to catch a few fish, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be able to convert his many minions. We play runescape for fun, pking is fun, events are fun. Events can and do produce money to buy gear to pk. Perhaps we need structured pvp times, or atleast we need to set aside time windows for when pvp events are to be hosted. That way community events can be built up around them. There is a war two days ahead? Castlewars will be a nice little thing to pop infront of that. Perhaps we have a run in later in the week? We could go do a bit of barrows or green dragons to make sure people are not bringing tyras helms into battle.
I talk a lot, as you probably all know. At the moment I am generally asking questions about runescape, as I am effectivley new to the game after being away for so long. When I finish runescape for dummies 101 I will be able to spend my time asking members what they feel like doing, and what times they are available to do those things. This will combat the poor attendance, at the moment when (if ever) there is an event, most people dont turn up, not because they dont want to, but because they physically cant. Once we overcome that hurdle we can work towards other goals.
I also offer to you a no-shit agreement. I say it how it is, hypothetically if I were to skip an event, I would make sure everyone knew what I did and that I was in the wrong. I wouldn't turn off my chat and start shovelling all sorts of bs to cover my back. Additionally this means I wont put up with people who sign up, then don't turn up.
Activity. I don't like runescape. I love WG. I find it hard to play, but I mass hours before every event as that is why I play. I am upset that there are so few events, I am a group player. I don't like being alone. But when 10 of us are going down to barrows I enjoy it. There needs to be more events, and event leaders need to actually turn up, especially if they hosted that event in the first place.
A wider variety of events, more of the time. I used to have a small clan many, many, many moons ago. It only had a handful of people in. When people didn't turn up to my events, I used to do them alone, to guilt trip the skippers. If I were an event Leader in WG, I would go to created events with 0 sign ups, so that if one person goes out of their way to attend, they will have someone to do it with. Many events I have seen only two or three people sign up get cancelled. This is unfair on those who geared up and were looking forward to that event. The second I submit an event, or sign up to one, I will be there no matter what. Even if I am alone. I offer you this dedication.
Above all though, I offer you my activity.
The events forum is a ghost town. It is off-putting, it needs to be full of interesting and unique events. Not one “lets go wildy lol and hit a dragin lal” event every month. I cant make fancy banners and sign ups for every event and I cant make people come, but I can change the way WG views non p2p events, I can make them appeal to possible new recruits and I can make them interesting and enjoyable for our member-base.
WG needs imaginative Event Leaders, someone who can think up good events. Are you this person and have you thought of any events already? (If so please name and describe them).
When I returned I made two classic events I had tried before, the classic trawler and a agility pyramid race. The first is an example of a bread and butter event. Stuff like trawler, castlewars and barrows are minigames already created for us. That is not very creative on the behalf of the hosts. They are fun, don't get me wrong. But we also need an equal amount of creative events, for example that pyramid race. It turns a rubbish agility grind into a competition, it takes the mind away from the grind, and makes it enjoyable. We need more of them.
Other events I have in mind are things such as a dungeon run, which I am working on building, snowball fights, wg only drop parties in falador and marathons across the runescape map. Things like firefests etc are nice, but they should only be hosted once every month or two, otherwise people will not attend.
More emphasis needs to be given to events that aid the Pvp aspect of the clan. Events revolving around Agility are great non combat activities that will help us in war. Contact hide and seek in the wilderness aids tank practice and more people should be encouraged to join skill and combat skill of the week, infact, the whole of WG should be automatically entered into such things to premote training.
People also view events as hour long things, I would like to dispell this myth and create week or weekend events. Perhaps a combat skill of the week event with specific rules, such as on day 1 you may only train at pest control, day two at AZ's and day three at bandits etc. This breaks up the monotony of training and is “fun”, if that word can even be related to runescape.
Events need to be long thourght out and interesting. We dont need events that are "thourght of in 5 minutes".
What puts you above other people applying for Event Leader?
Dedication, and that is it.
I would rather have no more power than any of the other guardians, I think some people apply for these jobs as they love being “above” everyone else.
This is not the case here,
I say this so often it must be pissing people off, but when I left WG was amazing. We were competing with the top in war and had tens of events a week. We had many active members and the leadership was great. Now it feels as if we are in a refugee camp, our leader is away and we have ghosts filling the throne. I don't know how to explain it without sounding offensive when I mean not to be. So imagine lord of the rings, if you have seen it. WG was theodyn, wg now is the old crusty theodyn. And we need some gandalfs up in here to restore what once was.
I am not claiming that I am that gandalf, but I want to play my small part to help. Like an ant carrying a leaf to feed the masses, alone I am nothing but with the help of others the ants thrive. WG is a joke at the moment. Literally, it is not bad, but people love the drama and nothing is taken seriously (Seriously as in, we want to be one of the best clans. Not seriously as in spend your whole life on a game and don't have fun).
I think others don't have the drive. I also think others have forgotten how WG used to be.
Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive?
I have exams in September. That is all.
Even so, I wish to peruse a career that is not related to my subjects, so as sad as this sounds, I can put WG first.
Is there anything else you would like to say?
If this were an interview, I would chat some bs – as you are always meant to say something here.
But honestly, I have said all I have to say. That is what I can offer you, and I speak no lies and I hide behind no pretence.
I am a noob to runescape once more. I will give you that. But I am a veteran of WG, and I want us to go far.
One problem with leadership is a tendency to start strong, then fade out into inactivity. Will you promise to uphold your duties continuously throughout your service to the best of your ability?
I have seen what happens to people, and I find it frustrating, when so many of us have the “flame” and wish to get out there in our little virtual world and do stuff, when other peoples flames have burnt out. It is a depressing feeling, and I do not want anyone to experience it.
The second I am showing any signs of activity I would resign a position of authority. If I were to get this position, I am in effect signing a contract offering my dedication and concentration for the duration of my role. The second that begins to fade, I no longer deserve to be anything other than a standard guardian.
Finally. Wg is failing. I have spoken to a lot of people who agree it is just a pot full of flamebait, trolling, lost wars and poor events. Hopefully this would give me a platform to do my bit to make wg better, for the good of us all.
Thanks for taking the time to read my essay :<
Its depressing me that it is longer than my history coursework that would perhaps determine my future :/ O well :Z

¤ Application for Event Leader ¤ Name:Webber or WebbersonJoin date:January 8th, 2010. Time zone:GMT, Greenwhich Mean Time. What do you have to offer as an Event Leader?I'd be offering somebody new and fresh, with plenty of events per week, some small, some big and i would of course be making at the minimum 2 a week, these events would range from fun events, recruitment, fight pits, castle wars, godwars, barrows and so on.
I offer someone who is active and would be able to host events for GMT, EST, CST, MST, PST, possibly some Aussie ones too. Of course I would be able to watch over the forums and IRC, as i'm on IRC whever i'm online.
WG needs imaginative Event Leaders, someone who can think up good events. Are you this person and have you thought of any events already? (If so please name and describe them). This is the first of my few ideas:
Snowball Fights!!!!
Description: Each person that attends brings basic F2P Mage Gear, that being Wizard robe top, Wizard hat, anti-fire shield, Air Staff, 2k mind runes, a blue skirt/monk robe bottom, along with an invent of lobster/swordfish/pizza along with 26k for F2P or 76k for P2P.
Go up in the wilderness to a NON PVP world, well for this explanation we'll say this one:

Once we get here we'd log out and switch to a PVP or BH World and let the free for all fun begin, yes i said free for all, if you die you can come back and watch or you can leave either is fine, but the winner gets the loot obviously.
I think this could be a great public or in clan event, aswell as alot of fun.
This Idea could also be used for an Allied clan Event, Team A and a Team B, 2 seperate CC's, may the best team win, mix it up and have some fun, as well as loot for the people who live.
What puts you above other people applying for Event Leader?Well, I have avilability with time zones, I have the ambition to make fun and regular events and I'd enjoy the forum work. (sounds silly i know)
Hopefully i'll be able to show you just how dedicated I can be.
Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive? Not a thing, I plan to be here for a very long time indeed. Nothing that would hold me back from my duties in WG if successful.
Is there anything else you would like to say?I know i'm still kind of the "new" guy around here, but I will stress this point more, I will be as committed as i can be and I will work for the rank If I'm successful. I hope people won't dismiss me for my time being so short within the clan, maybe a new fresh mind is what's needed, i'd enjoy the forum work too.
One problem with leadership is a tendency to start strong, then fade out into inactivity. Will you promise to uphold your duties continously throughout your service to the best of your ability?Oh I will definatly, I don't plan to fade into inactivity and forget my duties, if successful, I will always try my best, whatever the situation.
Thanks, ~Webber~

You can apply for President if you're 18 in some countries, but nobody would give a shit so they let you do it just so you can feel gud and equal and all when in fact you're not.

What do you have to offer as an Event Leader?Well, you can break up the title in to 'Event' and 'Leader'. For both, I can offer my knowledge, experience, effort, dedication and ability, to an extent.
In one of my previous clans I held the rank Event Organiser so I have firsthand experience in organising ('Event' bit). I am keen on early hours so I can cater for all timezones like the aussies if they want a dingo hunting event or so. I'd also be willing to involve our allies to improve turnouts and strengthen relations on fun events.
I've done a lot of work in the field as well (The 'Leader' bit) and have done much light boss hunting like KBD and KQ, as well as doing different PvP-related stuff with the clan (Like castlewars/interclan/fun wars and so).
If I were to be promoted to Event Leader, my mission statement would be to provide a range of frequent events for which everyone in the clan can benefit from and enjoy. And I'm confident I could carry out that goal successfully.
WG needs imaginative Event Leaders, someone who can think up good events. Are you this person and have you thought of any events already? (If so please name and describe them). In my opinion, I think that the events which would be most successful in WG are the ones that are both exciting and profitable. I would cater for that. I can think up a range of different events in different places and I'd definitely have a go at putting some of them to the test. I've done some work with interclan wars such as roleplaying (Knights vs Barbarians was one, where we use different outfits like full steel/monk robes respectively, similar to the veteran war) I've also had a lot of experience in the classic minigames such as Castlewars, Fight Pits and so, but I could expand to include things like trawler and skilling-based events (I especially liked the one where we did anti-RPKing at the agility arena, wouldn't mind a few of those) as long as they were to members' enjoyment. I would of course, incorporate the previously held but successful ones depending on the demand. And I will always be open to suggestions and ideas from other members as well
What puts you above other people applying for Event Leader?I will actually post recaps, usually within 1 hour of the event finishing. I will also update the attendance after posting the recap. And this will continue for the full duration of my time as EL, if I were to be promoted.
I think if I really had to decide on what would put me 'above' others, I'd say besides firsthand experience, it would be a strong desire to carry out the responsibilities and tasks I would have if I was promoted to EL. In short - to help do my part to make the clan better by being active and dedicated to the job. I suppose that puts me kind of on the same level as other people.
Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive? My band now has an explosive schedule in terms of gigs, which are usually on Friday/Saturday nights, but anything I have I can notify WG for at least 2 weeks in advance, if not more.
Is there anything else you would like to say?The events I host will be our events, not my events. Hence, I would be YOUR Event Leader. WG may not have the greatest interest in non-PvP events atm, but for the people who do want an active Event Leader who hosts fun and enjoyable events, I'll do my best
One problem with leadership is a tendency to start strong, then fade out into inactivity. Will you promise to uphold your duties continously throughout your service to the best of your ability? To the VERY best of my ability. I am very self-aware in terms of my ranks, and will give my best in terms of effort and dedication to the rank. I will also not be hesitant to step down and give up my rank to a more able person if I encounter issues that prevent me from doing the job successfully.

What do you have to offer as an Event Leader?
As an Event leader, I offer my ingenuity. With this I will be able to create events that appeal to all members. Along with my ingenuity, my activity also stands out. I am able to devote a great portion of my free time to creating and hosting events.
WG needs imaginative Event Leaders, someone who can think up good events. Are you this person and have you thought of any events already? (If so please name and describe them).
As a Guardian, I have made and suggested events. On a recent topic, I suggested several events, and described them.
QUOTE |
Kegger- Bomb Falador/GE with beers (Double attendance if you come onto mumble drunk)
PVP Corpreal Beast- Take down the Corpreal beast with D spears FFA for lols
Hide and Seek- One person will hide and hints as to where he is. First to find him hides next.
Prom- Dress up in your hottest attire and find a date (can be outside WG). Dance in the GE and hopefully get some ass afterwards.
|
I made all but the kegger up (had the idea before) within five minutes. I could easily make several events a week.
One thing I would love to do is a skill war against another clan for RSC post.
What puts you above other people applying for Event Leader?
Along with my ingenuity, my devotion puts makes me a good candidate for the position. I am willing to spend my free time creating events and hosting events, along with being active in our war/pvp side.
Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive?
Nothing at all. At most I may have small trips (two-three days if that) which won't be frequent at all (once a month max).
Is there anything else you would like to say?
I am also applying for Raid Leader. Not because I am seeking to become a staff member, but because I feel as though I can be of help in both positions.
One problem with leadership is a tendency to start strong, then fade out into inactivity. Will you promise to uphold your duties continously throughout your service to the best of your ability?
I promise to remain as active in WG as I have for the last three months.

What do you have to offer as an Event Leader?
I have many years experience in this clan and have a fairly good knowledge of how things are run, I am also very active member in Runescape, IRC, and also Mumble (I believe a push needs to be made for greater use of audio as it is a much better form of communication than IRC). I am extremely flexible with time and am capable of hosting/attending events at any time of the day or night.
I am also an ideas man, I tend to sit back and listen and observe peoples needs and then think about things over periods of time and try and come up with solutions for their needs, but more on that in the following section.
WG needs imaginative Event Leaders, someone who can think up good events. Are you this person and have you thought of any events already? (If so please name and describe them).
I am not so much into making complex original events or being imaginative, i'd like to see myself as a person who would strive to get our members more involved with each other on a more friendly and personal level and bring past ideas into action with more emphasis.
Some ideas I have and would like to introduce:
- I'd like to see things like Skill Of The Week up and running with maybe 3 or 4 events focusing on that skill each week, in doing this members have double incentive, attendance for attending events whilst gaining exp for the skill of the week which may also give them attendance.
- I would also like to introduce focus weeks: This in a sense would be orientated with more than just skilling events, each week I would like to see a few events run with the focus decided upon in a poll, what this would enable us to do is see where we think our weakness is at that point in time and focus upon it, it could be say a week where we go practice our binds and tanking because we are binding and tanking poorly the week before, with this we could chop and change the locations we practice at, eg Castle Wars, Fight Pits, and Clan Wars.
- I would also like to push some events and make them a regular occurrence that involve skills that will benefit our clan as a whole in wars, for example a weekly agility event, where we go to variant agility courses each week, and a weekly money making event where we go kill big bosses or do some other form of money making.
What puts you above other people applying for Event Leader?
I have knowledge in this role having been an event leader a few years ago, I know what it takes and the responsibility involved, I also have an extremely flexible lifestyle which almost enables me to be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive?
Nope, i'll have too much time on my hands.
Is there anything else you would like to say?
I would just like to take the opportunity to wish all the other applicants best of luck, i'm happy to say you would all make great event leaders.
One problem with leadership is a tendency to start strong, then fade out into inactivity. Will you promise to uphold your duties continously throughout your service to the best of your ability?
Absolutely I plan to place much time and effort into this role should I be elected.

What do you have to offer as an Event Leader?
Well, let's start with my activity. I am an active RuneScape player, but an even more active WG member. What I mean by this is in addition to the time I spend scaping for my own personal enjoyment, I also scape for the good of my clan. I am constantly training my combat stats to improve my PvP ability so I preform better in wars and I always attend events whenever I can. Even when I'm not playing RS, I'm usually interacting with the clan somehow through IRC or Mumble. I may not be the type to spend hours at a time on RS, but I don't believe that is what makes somebody an active member.
As for things I would add to the EL position, I would start by making sure the events are interesting and able to be attended by as many people as possible. If I make an event, I will make sure that it will get more than two or three people attending it. If I don't think an event is up to higher standards, then I will not post it just for the sake of setting up another event. I will do my best to present events in a manner that would make you not want to miss it. Another thing I would try to fix is the amount of people being able to go to a certain event. People have lives, and things they would rather do than go to a WG clan event, that's just the way it is. Before finalizing an event, I would make sure that I would get a good turn out by asking a handful of people if they'd be able to go to it, and if they think it'd a good event idea in general. I feel that's the best way to ensure an event has a good turnout. I would also listen to peoples complaints/suggestions for event times that would be fitting for them.
Another thing I would bring to the EL position is creating more allied events. I believe our allies TBE and TDM are extremely underutilized and somewhat ignored, and I don't think WG should continue merely acknowledging that they're there. We often have raids with The Sabres (and do things like invite them along to boss hunting trips with us) and while we won't be able to do the same with TBE and TDM, that doesn't mean they should go ignored. I believe allied events are not only a good way for us to get to know our allies better, but they would help some of our events be more active as well. Having been in TDM for a long time prior to joining WG, I am very comfortable with them and I know what types of events work and don't work with them.
WG needs imaginative Event Leaders, someone who can think up good events. Are you this person and have you thought of any events already? (If so please name and describe them).
I don't exactly have a list of potential events written out on a huge sheet of paper posted to my bedroom wall, but that doesn't mean I'm un-imaginative. I can be creative if I want to be, and thus I can make creative events.
I would try to stay away from events that bore easily, such as certain group skilling events where everybody just sits there chopping wood not saying a word. I would try to incorporate some type of competition into the events I make, whether it involves killing somebody in PvP or getting more monster drops than the other person. I would also like to have events involving some of the underused minigames in RS, such as Duel Arena, Castlewars, Trouble Brewing, Pyramid Plunder, etc. I'd also involve Mumble somehow with every event I make, as I think it enhances all events.
What puts you above other people applying for Event Leader?
I am willing to put my clan above myself and do everything in my power to ensure that I am doing the right thing for my clan. I am not applying for this position to get a higher rank, but instead to give this clan a dedicated, hard-working event leader. I also have a wide range of hours I am online, so I wouldn't be hosting events at the same times all the time.
Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive?
I can't foresee anything happening in the near future that would make me inactive.
Is there anything else you would like to say?
I know I posted before saying I would not apply at this time, but I have (obviously) changed my mind. I've decided to not let another opportunity pass me by in life, even if it is something non-RL related like this. That doesn't mean that this is unimportant to me, because it definitely is.
One problem with leadership is a tendency to start strong, then fade out into inactivity. Will you promise to uphold your duties continously throughout your service to the best of your ability?
I will absolutely try my best to remain active for WG, and do not think I will fade out into inactivity. If, however, I find myself in a state of prolonged inactivity for whatever reason, I will have no issue with giving up my event leader to somebody who is more active than I.
