The Essay That Killed Me

By His_Lordship on 12/06/2010
This essay was a bitch, mostly because I had 29 articles/books to read.
Research raped my life.

Read if you're at all curious about this essay question:
How does music interact with the spirit world in Southeast Asian rituals?

Not my best academic writing, but it's two weeks overdue so I can't be fussy.

How you manage to pass when your papers are two weeks late is beyond me hash.png

Oh, I'm just smart about how I hand it in.
Loopholes in the system.
The music course isn't very strict.

No wonder nobody goes there for Uni hash.png

Well, I'd be more interested in a course if I could get away with procrastination.

Though that hurts the academic reputation of the school as more stringent schools are considered to have better academic status as they aren't as lax about the rules in reflecting a normal occupation in particular.

Well if nobody knows about it. My music course is one of the better ones in the country so I have the prestige. The University is pretty equivalent to an Ivy league in the states, except our Aussie version has 8 Universities in the league. So the rep is good. Nobody knows the music course is soft, mostly because none of the other music students try the loopholes.

By Eregion2 on 12/06/2010
That's... really fascinating.

I just skimmed it, I'll read the whole thing when I have time.

Very interested.

It does look interesting. I'll read the whole thing when I get the spare time later. 2.5k word count... jesus. That's about 5 times the average required length of my collage assignments.

I'm also fairly surprised to know about the his_lordship directory. It doesn't appear in the ~wgwilde listing. Although I know very little about Apache and Ubuntu anyway tongue.gif

You are usually only required to have 500 word works? Shit... I wish.

1250-1500 word count average for my schooling. US high school, mind you.

Indeed tongue.gif Although it is English college and not university. Assignments are usually 300-500, the most I've written is 800 for a web development one which included segments of code.

Stopped reading there because too much lolz.

By George on 12/06/2010
I read a little bit, sounded quite good.
But it's only 2500, that's NOTHING, lolz. Also, if you had read 29 books on it, wouldn't you have had bagsss to write, or was that like a maximum word count?

By His_Lordship on 12/06/2010
That's a max word count.

looked over it, the length reminds me of paper i was supposed to write for one of my music classes. We had to find 25 sources and write a 5 page paper. But we were supposed to write a paragraph on each source for the bibliography, proving that the source relates to my topic.

Hate research papers.

Computer Science major ftw.

By Georgio9 on 14/06/2010
I wish I had had a max word for my engineering design course. No page limit, no word limit, just write until you get your point across.

59 pages and 11 599 words worth of dry technical writing was the result of a 4 person, 3 night effort. 3 people writing and myself doing mostly editing and compiling.

By Kung Man149 on 16/06/2010
I read through it all and Gene i must say this is very well written and very well done.

I enjoyed reading it.
