Yeah it wasn't American skill that got them their goal.
It was a mistake from the England goalkeeper.

In contrast, Gerrard skillfully, thundered one into the back of your net, and try as he did, Howard couldn't save it.

which is why u have to love the game...

skill is a major component but hell. england Got Pwned.
read the comments. it clearly shows a Gf from the U.s. towards england due to what occured.

what i'm curious about is why didn't england score afterwards cuz there where certainly opportunities. i'm guessing it's lack of morale...

By George on 13/06/2010
Well, not really a lack of morale, perhaps a lack of drive.
To be fair, we did lose our captain like 3 days before the team set off for South Africa. That's bound to do something to affect team spirit.

Either way, I enjoyed the first half, it was good. Second half was boring as hell.

By Gusmighster on 13/06/2010
There is no way Gerrard 'thundered' into the net lol. 'Poked' is more accurated. Speculative from Dempsey to say the least.

Anyway, who cares, England will top the group whatever happens ;D

Oh and Sgt we didn't get another one because although Heskey had a good game, he will never be a natural finisher, and Wright-Phillips didn't look too great on the left. Get Joe Cole in!!!

By Nick on 13/06/2010
While it was a tie, England got pwn'd by the US. L0l0l0l0l0l0l0l0l0l0lz.

Well our posession of the ball really went up and we took a fuckload of shots, but meh.

Should have put Crouch on in the first half.

USA USA USA

I don't like that they leave this game in tie. To me that makes no sense. But then I don't follow this sport.

Why can they leave it a tie? Where is sudden death and how many games are they scheduled to play. Is it like a world series in baseball?

Noooo because sudden death is penalties and England sucks at penalties omghash.gif.png

Yeah Rach, this tournament is HUGE, it may not be apparent to the USA because they don't play European Football/Soccer much, but it's massive on a global level.

Oh & there are suddent death penalties etc. but that's only for the games that matter, these ones are like preliminaries. There will be penalties later on in the tournament =D.

Hopefully we get to see USA again, they were a good team to play.

soccer is the game of life. you have a goal and you have to strive against all odds!

currently they are trying to get the points for qualifying.

win = 3. tie =1. lose = 0

the fact that us and england tied means they both have a greater chance. i just can't help the feeling that the u.s. got lucky.

that ball was treacherous

By Gusmighster on 14/06/2010
They aren't getting points to qualify, every team playing now has qualified for the Finals. They are getting points to get out of the group stages and into the knockout rounds (last 16, quarter, semi finals and the final).

It is likely that England and USA will qualify tbh.
