Power Balance Bands
By Jayson on 14/06/2010
Just brought one, they are really cool and weird. coach showed me one at training once, showed me a few things it does.
So basically, its a band that uses some magnetic electronics or something to regulate oxygen through the body faster, and helps neurotransmitters cross synapses faster. So you can run longer, faster and also react faster to things that happen.
Some cool tricks it does as well, is if someone tries to pull you down to the ground, with the band on, it makes it something like 5x harder to do.
Also it increases your flexability lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gIMxjr3n5Ucheck it out lol

it real?
By Nick on 14/06/2010
This is complete shit.
Guy came and scammed the whole soccer team at my school with this band. The physics teacher then disproved all three tests by doing them himself without the band.
Do you really think that some little sticker is going to affect your body that much?
Also, you should look for the portable sticker! You put it on a place that hurts and it makes the pain go away!

Whats the magic bonus? Better than barrows gloves?
By George on 14/06/2010
If that's real, then it's going to completely change the face of sports worldwide (until they ban it at the olympics).

If something seems too good to be true it probably is, but it would be cool if it really worked. I think its probably a mental thing though...you expect yourself to preform better with it on, so you do.
By sgtswordfish on 14/06/2010
it's psychological...will have to try it
but i can tell because of the queries.
1. stretch as much as you can
-our minds are set to under-perform thus the innitial stretch won't yield the maximum due to it not being an actual attempt but rather a demonstration
2. places the band and perform the same thing
-this time there is a higher concentration, there is a goal which is to achieve a greater performance than before. thus what wasn't possible before now is...
i have something similar. it's a whistle and whenever i have it with me it sets the stage to perform. martial arts training trains you to tap into this strength like second nature.
*research*
it's official. it's a product that is based on belief than fact. in other words.
if you believe it works. it will, otherwise it won't because your mind dosen't accept it as thus.

What a scam. It's all in your mind.
By Jayson on 15/06/2010
like i said, i have tried it, it works
i have tried both sides of the strength and balance tests.
it really does work, hence why i brought one.

the test are controlled
the true test comes from uncontrolled scenario. in other words you must use the band and put yourself in an overwhelming scenario and see how you perform.

what do you mean. i tried it with friends. how can i feel the resistance of his arm improve to 5x as much, and then my own arm resistance more.
it works, i know it does.

Hmm, I have a friend who uses those. Says they improved his pitching in baseball. I might look into getting some, actually.

Well, even if it -is- just a placebo effect, and its not very expensive, why not? It's still doing its job.
By Firelion08 on 15/06/2010
Hah, sounds like one of those old-age scams.
It's always interesting to hear of these kinds of things.
By Jayson on 16/06/2010
yea, i has sceptical at first about it, but once i tried it, it was really interesting.
and robbie's right, i got mine for $8 AUD ($7 US-ish) so its really cheap considering if you go into a main store and buy one at the peak price, its like $50, so even if it just increases my sprint by 0.0000000001s, im happy.

By Nick on 16/06/2010
Alright. $8 each isn't bad. That is fine to spend regardless if it works or not.
People were paying $30 at my school.
