The Jagex Clan Cup 2010

By George on 18/06/2010
Hey all,

Well registration for the Clan Cup 2010 opens tomorrow (Saturday 19th).
So now we must decide whether we are to be involved or not.

If you remember last time, we did all 3 cups (Combat, Combined [SC] and the Skilling Cup) and we didn't do at all well in ANY of them.

This year, I think that instead of doing all three, we should just pick one, possibly two and really focus on those and try to do the best we can, rather than do 3 badly and spend little time on each.

If you remember last year we didn't do at all well in the Combined Cup and no one really enjoyed it, so I suggest we definitely leave that one out.

The skilling cup - again I think we should (THIS YEAR) abstain from doing this, since last year it didn't encourage people to skill as a clan, it instead made people act very unsociably towards one another and skill alone with their chats on and stuff.

We should definitely go for the combat cup though - Justin/Gene?

I would say do all but the Combined Cup if we didn't like it very much last time around and didn't do well.

I don't see any problem in doing the skill and combat cups. Yeah we may not be the best right now for the combat cup, but I don't think we should just shy away from it.

We won't win the combat cup.
The skilling cup is our best shot.
We'll have to be extremely efficient with our time and such.
I say try the combat cup, but be most hopeful for the skilling cup.

Ok, but we now need to decide if we want to do any sub-divisions of the combat cup, (as well as the main F2P full out Combat Cup thing).

The divisons can be found there ^.

There's like 15 vs 15 f2p + pvp etc etc.
Go take a look.

BUMP.
Cmon Justin we seriously need to register for this.
Or doesn't he have internet or something? Gene you'll have to make the call for him mate.

Any decision made on this so far? Registration ends this Friday, so we need to think quickly.

I personally think we should go for the Matched 20v20 F2P and P2P, as well as the Skilling cup. We could do the combined cup as well, but I think we should limit the number of events we participate in.

By rachellove9 on 22/06/2010
That sounds reasonable to me to do the 20 vs 20. If they really do have a lower lvl under 115, I think do matched ones in it too.

The combat sub-divisions are as follows:
* Under 115 Combat F2P and P2P
* Over 115 Combat F2P and P2P
* P2P (no player limits)
* Pure F2P and P2P ("Pure" is considered to be 45 Defence or lower)
* Matched 20v20 F2P and P2P
* Community Clan F2P and P2P (Community clan is defined by a clan that has no combat level requirement in order to join)

There is no matched ops for 115 and under, and I don't think we should do that one TBH. We only have about 20 members that are 115 combat or lower.

I really don't feel this is the right move for us at present.

WG isn't gelling together as a team very well at present, and going into these competitions to fight against clans that we don't select could be a very dangerous move and I am confident if we enter and get knocked out in the first round or so it wont be good for our clans morale or image.

At present we have a large percentage of members that aren't confident in PVP that we really need to work with and I just feel at present we need to be making the decision on which clans we fight not Jagex.

Should this have been in a few months time i would have been much more supportive of us participating in this.

By Kevin on 23/06/2010
Alright, so what about the skilling/combined cups? We should at least do one if not both of them.

By WG Justin on 23/06/2010
Combined is SC yea?

That's something more novel that I think we can take as a bit of fun and would make for a good bit of team building, i am definitely all for that.

My concerns for the skilling one is the same as the earlier suggested skill war, its not really where we are at right now, we all know that we are very capable and strong when it comes to skilling, but I feel it takes away from what we are trying to focus upon and trying to develop in WG.

I mean of course I am open to the opinions of everyone else, my say isn't final i would like everyone's input on this, I am just telling you how I feel about it.

By Kevin on 23/06/2010
The more fights we have the better we get. Having a war every other month does not make us better at warring. We should be doing 2-3 wars per month if we want to get better. Instead of viewing a loss in the JaGeX cup as detrimental to WG, you could view it as the opposite. That's why I think participating in at least a couple of the combat cup divisions would be a good idea.

And the skilling cup would be fun, and how would it take away from trying to become a better PvP clan? After it's done with, we can go full throttle with doing warring. A lot of people, pretty much everybody, would enjoy participating in the skilling cup (even if we lost).

It seems like you have a more negative outlook on it, Justin. No offense. <3

By DZ on 23/06/2010
Even if we get paired against a clan stronger than us and get crushed, you still learn from defeat. I don't think avoiding fights because we have a good chance of losing is the right way to approach the situation.

Make it clear that we will not win the whole thing but will try our best, so if and when we do lose it's not such a blow to moral?

By George on 24/06/2010
Ok tbh we have like literally another 10 hours in which to register fro this or something.

I'm trying to summarise here:

Combat Cup - Full out = no. Matched = possibly yes? I think we should give something a go tbh, (something in the cmb cup)... although I do agree with Justin that we're not getting the pulls atm.
If we have to leave out something, then maybe we should leave out this, considering we are getting our own wars/raids gonig by ourselves atm.

Combined Cup - We're all FOR it, anyone against? Post QUICKLY.

Skilling Cup - So far only Justin opposed to it. That would mean everyone else is FOR it... since we're in a democracy i would guess that our votes outweigh justin's 1... if we're doing it like that.
THOUGHTS QUICKLY!

Im not against skilling, im up for that, i don't think we should go for combat though.

Just my opinion, Luke.

By George on 24/06/2010
Ok,
Encorporating the views of every person who has posted, it is clear that no one wants to do the Combat Cup, which probably is a good idea as long as we keep the wars up.
I mean say that we do by chance lose the war at the weekend, we shouldn't, but it may happen and then we're put against a really good clan on the first round of the Combat Cup - that would be 2 losses in a week = demoralising yah.

I have however entered us for the Combined and Skilling Cups.
