Impromptu raids
By Kyle on 14/08/2010
Alright. Jordan, I know you absolutely LOVE to make these. >.>..
(Not directed at just Jordan, all raid leaders.)
But anyway. I think we really should stop with them. Making them impromptu means that they're not mandatory, right? But then we always bitch at members for not coming to them. So that'll piss them off even more.
"Okay, the raid isn't mandatory but the staff is bitching at me for not attending? Why should I even go to a mandatory event if they'll treat me like this?"
We should just stick to planned raids, none of this "OMGF I WANNA GO GET SOME LOOT LET'S MASS UP". It'll burn out the Trial Guardians who think every single event is mandatory, and with them constantly going to every single thing, they'll want a break. Which, in turn, will lead to raid skippers.
See where I'm going here?
Tl;dr: Stop with the impromptu raids, members are going to hate them once we do them too often. If you want to raid, post a topic a few days in advance. NOT THE NIGHT BEFORE JORDAN -cough-

100% agreed. Specially with all of the shit we usually have going on.
By DZ on 14/08/2010
I feel the exact same way.
I really don't have anything against them, but when we're doing them every second night I think that's a bit much. I don't want members losing raid gear on these unofficial raids because we will probably need them a lot more on official trips when we get into bigger fights.
It's also pretty annoying when you want to just do something on your own on RS (train etc) and you have people pm'ing you telling you to come raid when you really don't want to. Then it looks bad on you because you are a staff member and you should be supporting as many raids as you can, right?

Exactly what it's like for me.

I rarely attend impromptu raids much lately. I would like to know who is giving the members shit for not coming? I think its great having them though honestly... I'll explain.
Having the option to go pking every day even if not mandatory keeps everyone brushed up on their skills. Relying on weekly raids every week to stay caught up can be bad. We only have 1-2 each week and not everyone can make them.
My arguement is don't kill the impromptu raid, just cut back on them and don't punish or ask excessively from the members.

Yeah school starts for me in about 4 days, so I'll really only have time for the allied, aussie raids, and maybe one more in the middle of the week every once in awhile.
I know sometimes people in lobby ask if we can raid, but you just have to turn them down for the good of the clan even if raiding is fun for you.

I see no issue with having these raids its good practice, and believe it or not I don't think a single one of those raids was just made by Jordan because he felt like it, if I recall right they were requested by the members. Isn't that our job to keep the members and the clan happy? No one is forced into impromptu raids, they are asked whether they would like to come along, not forced.
By Kyle on 14/08/2010
Well of course nobody is forced to come to them. But when it's like
"DUDE COME RAID"
"Nah, not in the mood, sorry."
"COME ON DUDE IT'S FREE LOOT"
"I'm fine."
"COME ONNNNNNNNN"
It gets annoying.
How about we ask the clan about what they like?
By VEPHYSAURAS on 15/08/2010
Yeah it annoys me too.
However no one is telling you to come or else your getting kicked. If they like it why outlaw it because it has become a nuisance to a few members? Until it actually has some negative effect on us I don't want to get rid of them.

I dont usually just do one what happens is like i get on msn or 1rc and i get like 6-7 ppl saying o lets raid and after a while if theres enough i just ask everyone. i never nag just go for fun and sometimes there pretty successful.
And dieyouu is right becuase its summer and we have alot of activity there has been a few but once we get back to to school/work they wont be happening if at all.
Sometimes they last for ages people dont have to stay if they wanna leave they can and they know it i understand that not everyone may feel that way but overall i think people just enjoy coming out.
If you dont want me doing them anymore fine i got school anyway but ive never logged on irc in the mind of having one.
