#WG

By WG_Keanu on 16/08/2010
At the time of writing:
2 ops, 2 halfops and 15 voice in #wg_lobby
2 ops, 2 halfops and 9 voice in #wg

Half the reason we have to advertise events in the lobby (Eg. wars/raids) is because our members don't join #WG.

#WG should be looked at with greater importance. It's a channel where the sensitive, clan-only information is discussed. When a non-WG joins the lobby and isn't allowed inside #wg, it makes the channel sacred, similar to His Lordship's Throne Room. When we spam EVERYONE JOIN #WG, it's a motive to join - to gain that access, and take part in the secrets that are discussed there.

I encourage everyone to support that. Just join #WG and just idle there when you're on the IRC, even if we're not discussing anything.

Its kinda funny a few months back we were talking about how #wg_lobby was too empty. We can't seem to find a balance.

In any event I think this is better than being only in #wg. For one being the reason that trials can communicate with us very effective, get into the community.

Also recently we will be starting to use mass highlights for special events that only voice+ can see. So there will be no more leakage after we implement this new tactic.

Would be great to use #WG more though for private discussion but I fear taking away from our recruitment possibilities.

Like Nathan said, we used to have the problem of people staying in #WG and just leaving #WG_Lobby.

I agree that there is no reason to NOT be in #WG if you're in the lobby though.

I still think that most of our talk should happen in the lobby though, and just make sure that everyone is in the private channel so that when we do have events, we can just HL the private channel instead of risking non-WG seeing us mass for a raid or something.

I've warned different people about the discussion of sensitive things. I have even asked them to take it to #wg when they fight in the public area.

I will remind everyone now that: You talk pvp in the lobby that will get you a forum 20% warn level without a thought from any of the staff. That is the rule.

And you get the invite to #WG when you join the lobby, so there's no reason NOT to be in the lobby either.

Why can't people just join both?

Spamming WG join #wg over 9000 times doesn't really keep anything secret either.
