okay umm, for the 55 defence restriction what should rangers wear? blue drghide?

I've got gear posted on the topic of what people should bring. Black dragonhide is 70 RANGED to wear, not 70 DEFENCE.

Doesnt black dragon hide only require 40 defense?

LOL, blue dhide and black dhide both require 40 def which is under 55. so yes you can wear black.

Im pretty crap at PVP so im prob gonna die in the firts 5 seconds but yeah anyway is it a good idea to vengence if im not going as a mage?
