Alright well I have a Squier Stratocaster. It's worth about $250-300 new if I remember correctly.
Well I got to thinking how awesome the guitar would be if I changed it's crummy stock pickups to something more of my current style of music. Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden and other hard rock metal stuff.
Since the guitar is a strat I was thinking of keeping with the single pickups rather than putting in humbuckers. I came across a David Gilmore set of pickups prewired and everything with some other fancy electronics he uses. Its a set of active EMG pickups. DG-20 I believe is the name of the set.
This would set me back about $350 which is more than the guitar is originally worth.
The question I'm asking you guys, especially the guitar enthusiasts is the whether or not this would be a worthwhile investment/upgrade.

I play guitar, but I don't have a clue what you're on about.
Good luck anyway.
(To me, it doesn't seem worth the price)

Well I got the guitar back from the shop hoping they could improve its playability issues i've had with it but they weren't able to.
So I think I'll replace the guitar before I'd upgrade the electronics on it.

I just play, I don't know what those are If it REALLY helps and makes you sound epic leetsauce go for it, but otherwise $350 for an accessory isn't worth it lmfao.

Amatures.
If you want the metal and power sound of it, go for humbuckers, when playing metal it makes it sound crisp, however the singles throw in nice light rock sounds.
But personally i think humbuckers can play the rock fine anyway
