Goodbye Vephy

By rachellove9 on 09/11/2010
I am just making a thread for everyone to know that Vephyrus has left the clan. I'm adding him to the Hall of Shame. Probably one of the most sad thing I will do as council.

He came to WG as one of my very best friends and it was pretty amazing to be in a clan with him. I knew he would be great when I recruited him and Dieyou didn't have a chance to not join with us both here.

My expectation of what great things he would do was surpassed many times with him as one of our truly successful event leaders. He had unique and creative ideas. This will be something we as a clan can continue to use and build on.

It is a shame it went this way, but Vephyrus is happy doing his Corp. Council is a really tough job and sometimes you get overly stressed about things. It is the doomed rank and we all know it when we take it that we will do our time then wigg out and leave council or the clan. . . . sigh.

I'll be opening applications to the Council on or around Nov 16. Feel free to ask me anything about it.

Please out of respect for others don't start flaming anyone on this thread.

I only knew Vephy for a short time. But, during that time he seemed like a really cool person. I've never seen the side of him that would do this kind of thing. I guess it just goes to show being on council and dealing with all that stress can get to anyone.

A great man met a terrible end.
Banned or not, he's a good person.

at least let him enter lobby.

Gene pretty much summed it up.
When a WG member is put in the hall of shame it usually signifies a failure on his part to uphold the rules/keep to his role in WG....
HOWEVER, i do not view Vephy's place in the Hall of Shame as a failure.

Yes, he broke a WG rule by not keeping his 2 weeks notice, but that was only because of the incredible stress he was under as a result of doing an absolutely incredible job as Council.
Council is hard, and for him, it was very difficult, he had a lot of shit to deal with and did it very well. It is hardly surprising that he found the end difficult.

A great guy, a loyal friend, a pro corp'er. A legend.

This probly the saddest moment I've had in my year in WG, Nathan was a great member when I met him and when he got promoted to council I remember him being so proud to be able to make a difference in a way that he did...It's a sad thing to see Nathan had left this way but I know I will keep him on my friends list because He like Many WG and EX-WG are amazing people and Legends on their own.

Hope one day you'll come back my friend.

It may sound bias due to people being put in the hall of shame for the same reason in the past.

But to flag someone in the hall of shame who has done such a great deal of work in WG is a shame of it's own. Rules or not.

I agree with you entirely, however if we don't have rules, what do we have?
Rules are needed unfortunately/fortunately.

Also, Cheyney did loads as Council as well, perhaps more than Nate, yet he was banned as well for the same reason sad.gif
(Although later, agreeably, he did become a massive twat, but before this he was cool).

Vephy in Hall of Shame... More like Hall of Fame.

Realising he broke a rule, but I can't even begin to comprehend the work he did for this clan. "No exeptions", "A rules a rule" etc. Don't care. Vephy is so much better. I'm ashamed that we, as a clan, could do that to such a hard worker. He has done so much for WG and deserves so much more than this.

Out of all the council I've seen, Vephy was definitely my favorite. His dedication, resourcefulness, and determination were extraordinary. He tried his best to make sure that not only himself, but the entire staff were fullfilling their duties to their best abilities, and he fought for that everyday. He was a great guy, and an amazing friend to those who needed it. He was attentive of everyones needs, and always listened to those who asked. Vephy was the man of change, and worked hard to do the things neccessary to change WG for the better.

Such a shame... the rules have grown so rigid that we cant even do right to one of our finest. Just because of all the drama that comes from a single contradiction from leadership, the rules have become so inflexible. Now, we do one of our best wrong.

Vephyrus was a good friend and a great mentor to me. It is a shame he is no longer with us.

^^^^^^ a million times.

Nate is as of now the longest playing friend I have on Runescape that still is online for significant periods of time. I met him at least two or three years ago, along with Rachel and a couple of other friends.

We quickly became best friends and it's stayed that way through all this time, even when we've had our issues to deal with. Even though he slowly pulled away from me skill-wise in every skill and way possible (MONEY ESPECIALLY YOU SIGIL NOOB), we continued to talk a lot and help each other out whenever we needed a hand. At one point we even tried to start a small team with some of our friends.....that lasted all of about a day. tongue.gif

When Rachel first, and then Nathan joined WG, I hadn't spend any significant time in a clan before (prior experience was about a week in The Last of the Jedi before I got bored), so I put off joining as long as I could.

Eventually, a little over two years ago, I finally applied to WG and was accepted as a trial guardian, and then a guardian within my month.

I was a bit shy at first, and I still can be at times, but having joined a clan with two of my longest friends helped me to get through it. I honestly didn't even talk very much on TeamSpeak until I got raid leader half a year ago. Part of the reason I took the rank is because I want to push myself to do things, and now I love getting on TS and talking with you guys every chance I get (except Keanu).

Anyway, we all spent our time in WG. Nate was eventually elected to Event Leader. Then Rachel to Council. At some point I got the magnificent role of higher guardian with wonderful level 1.75 access. wink.gif Then Nate got Council, and a few months later I was elected to Raid Leader.

From the three of us meeting around three years ago up until this day. All three of us made it into positions of authority in this clan (damn our mutiny of Gene was so close), and I'm proud of what we've all done, but you Nathan. You were likely the most amazing Council I've seen.

You cared about this clan and the people in it, and you did everything you could to improve people's time here and make this clan the best it could be. Unfortunately, Council has a lot of shit to do, takes a lot of stress, and because most of it is never seen by the regular members, it is easy for them to give you a ton of shit for not coming to an event once in awhile so you can just relax. I can't even imagine the pressure of being Council, but your work ethic made it even harder for you. You refused to let things sit. If something needed to get done, and it was 1 A.M., you still did it and went to bed tired and exhausted.

While you may not have been Council long, you filled your short time in the position with as much good work as anybody could possiby hope. I disagree that rules are rules, and that you should be put in the Hall of Shame. People will look back, and instead of knowing all the great things you did for this clan, they will see you in the Hall of Shame and assume that you were a bad member and did not do your job.

I'm sad that you are leaving this clan and on such bad circumstances, but I am proud and glad to have been your friend for all these years, and I hope we can continue that friendship for years to come. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't even be making this post on these forums with this rank right now. I owe it all to you (and I guess Rachel a bit too, eh? wub.gif )

While I can't add much more to the amazing statements made by Rach, Zach and BTO I think that we should really look at whether or not he stays banned.

I know there is a two week rule for a reason, and while I agree with it in most cases this is surely an exception. Vephy tried his hardest to keep with WG and had been struggling with the pressure for weeks and we didn't let up, I struggle to blame him for wanting to get out of here ASAP.

Perhaps it is more appropriate to have the 2 weeks notice only apply to those who have been council for less than 3 months or similar and as such have not really done enough time to earn the respect of the clan like Vephy has? This would largely prevent people doing a 'Tmal' and getting council and lasting a month lol.... while not leading to some of our best members being banned.

^^^^^^post that in the story forum thing

I will miss Vephy a lot, he was one of the most skilled monster hunter's i had ever known, i could ask him anything about runescape and he would know it. he may have been quiet on teamspeak, but he was loud in his actions as council, very talented at keeping the clan in good shape, and make it better.

I hope for the best in his adventure through life in the future.

By Dorcha3377 on 10/11/2010
Hope Vephy finds what he is looking for out there in the world. Best of luck in all you do.

By mtoise on 10/11/2010
I'm confused dot com, I'm sure I saw a post by Vephy approx 2 weeks ago announcing he was leaving?

He then changed his mind, posted inactivity but he was just to dedicated and upset to really take the break he needed and deserved. Things just escalated to his rage quitting.

I was already bias with him in the past, when I made him emeritus when he was going to leave after like 2 days. To me he just needed the little break and he came back to be an amazing council person. Sometimes a little slack in rules works out.

By WG_Keanu on 10/11/2010
He was a great council. To even achive the rank of council is one thing in itself. To do as well as he did is exceptional.
