Council Election Nominations
By Abmanju on 25/04/2008
Important Update:
The 'Warlord' Option is off the list, and there is now TWO Community type Council that will be elected.
Reason: We already have two main warlords, So after much debate in a Council Meeting, we would benefit more from two Community/Skills Council.
-----------------
Alright, we are in need of more Council. Ever since Eugene & Jenny have left the Council positions, I have been reluctant to fill them in. However now I have made up my mind and some new blood within the Council will be a great help for us.
We're looking for two positions for Council. I have chosen two different features that we will be looking for and would be what we need for the Council to improve.
-Fighting Sector Type (For example, a Warlord)
Right now, DZ, Zach & Stoke all have brilliant Warlord abilities. However we do think that one more will be very useful towards the Council, also remember that we are looking for a person that is VERY forum active along with RS Active for this position.
-Community/Skills Sector Type (For example, Previous Head of Community & Head of Skills title)
The Council is striving for more moderating type Council and a Council that looks for member feedback and so on. A Council that will never ignore a pm on IRC or on Forums. Someone that will always have the time to listen to anyone with a problem or query. Someone who is ALWAYS kind in what they speak. Someone that is never racist and has self-control. This person will also be doing a lot of forum work as well as IRC work. This person's communication with the clan is vital. Timezone is also very important for this person, they have to be most of the time at which most of the clan is on. Along with all this, they have to be Event active, they have to go to Events, we need a Council out there to support the clan in every event, it'll certainly be inspiring.
I want people who are applying to think about this decision. Now, when you get into Council, you get stuck into everything, you need to have all of the qualities above, however a person's personality really does choose which type the person would lean more towards and therefore would accelerate in. However you must have both qualities, if a person comes into #Wg_Lobby looking for a war, you must know how to deal with this, ask any of the Warlords for some tips if you are unsure. You also need to know how to sort out arguments and so on.
--------------
Now, the Importance and consequences of this rank.
This rank, Council rank, I can't stress how much **** it put through many Council members. Ask anyone who has been Council, they'll explain. You might think "Yeah, I'm prepared for this" - Heck, So did I, but I really had no clue what I was really in store for me. You might bug a Council member to do Apps or do something at a time, and go 'Oh If I was Council, I'd do that' but you will really have no idea unless you have been Council before. This rank has broken many many people. Lifespan of Council is usually, approximately, rather, 6 months I'd say. It's hard to last long in a job you're not getting payed for. You'll be able to realise 'Why am I doing this? What is the purpose' - Then you answer that question yourself 'Because I love this clan, I love my friends here, I want to make them happy' - THAT is your payment, THAT is what motivates you in Council.
Council Rank is the ultimate test, if you don't do well at it, you will be criticised by the clan whether you like it or not, you will have to be able to withstand that criticism and act positively to it. Council Members make mistakes, Primary Leaders make mistakes, but they are ordinary human beings just like yourself, they will learn from mistakes. But many people don't understand the concept, which is exactly why the pressure mounts & mounts on a Council Member.
I'm going to quote Eugene from old forums:
QUOTE (His_Lordship) |
You are about to apply for something dangerous This clan has been through many council members. We have never had a stable council. If you join the council it is very likely you will quit WG soon after.
The council members are placed under EXTREME stress. You just can't believe how much... Though I have to admit it has become easier. (This is because we took away total democracy meaning less drama)
Anyway, you don't know what it's like to be in the council. Some of you think it is the ultimate glory. This glory will fade after a few weeks and you will suffer. Others are in it because they want to change WG. Then they suffer as well because the stress grows too heavy.
You may look at the council and say not much is being done for WG. But it is hard for council members to do anything. We are labouring and we need plenty of breaks. Sure you may say nothing is being done. It's REALLY that bad. We just have to keep our workload small. Otherwise WG gets too stressful. This is one of the reasons many council members leave. They don't realise how stressful it gets.
IF YOU WANT THIS JOB, YOU REALLY HAVE TO HAVE A DEEP URGE FOR IT. So please, before you apply, think VERY HARD. There is a reason council members are temporary. When you are in the council, it isn't a lot of fun. People start questioning what's the point of playing RS if it's not fun. To be a long lasting member, think of Dorcha3377. She does it because she loves us. She loves what we're all about. You need that. You have to draw your happiness from the happiness of WG. Nothing can prepare you for it. You may think you know how it's like, but you don't. You can only understand once you are in the council.
So when you apply, realize that you may be about to suffer. |
----------------------
Alright, If you aren't put off by any of the warnings above, then you may apply. Let me state the requirements:
-Higher Guardian+
-4 Months Minimum in WG
Before we cast the voting system, Council will remove any nominations that we think will not make it to Council. Please - Do not take this personally.
Also another warning to Higher Guardians & Elite Guardians, please do not be discouraged if you do not get the rank because the Tertiary Leaders are ACTUAL Staff, they do work and do not get paid, just like Council, except at a smaller scale, the clan has seen them in action so they will have higher chance to get the position.
The Form
This form is the basic form to fill out your application. If you want to gain more votes, I suggest your application to be structured meaning colour coding & underlining key points. Also please try to clearly get your point across. Please spend a good amount of time making the application form. People who have applied for it and received the rank took a good 1-2 Hours doing the form. Before then, back in 2005 when Council Elections happened, the Council Forms were posted on a website and they were...I can't remember, It was VERY long, I'd say about 2k-4k Words or more. (Jesusislord6 & so on competed in this election)

goodl luck to all applicants
By Zhero06 on 25/04/2008
Gl peeps. Hope you really are fit to be in those positions. Too often have I seen people promoted just because they been around for a long time, and then they fail epically by doing nothing to help the clan when they get promoted. But gl with the race, may the best man win.
By Georgio9 on 25/04/2008
I thought of going back to council. However, It would be just for 4 months and I think it would be better for the clan to have someone more long term than me.
Good luck to those who enter. It really takes its toll on you if you do the job right.
By DZ on 25/04/2008
Good luck to anyone who decides to run.
Take those warnings seriously!

Application for Council
1. Have you read and understood the warning?
Yes.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
“You've got to get up every morning with determination if you're going to go to bed with satisfaction.”
I figured this quote would sum up what I’m about to say. Looking back into my past commitments, I can’t recall anything that I have given up on. Managing my time and activities is a strong trait I’ve always had. The transition from a normal member to the Application Manager took some time, but eventually it came to the point where I can do applications with my eyes closed. Council would be a nice long term commitment that I’m confident I could handle.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
Yes, unfortunately. I briefly talked it over with Abs, who agreed I should apply just to see what happens. I’m leaving late June, around the 20th and coming back early August. I go to a summer camp, overnight, with no computer access. Epic inconvenience right?
4. Why are you applying for council?
I am applying for council mainly to prove myself. I feel like a scientist without a laboratory, I can’t show my potentials without the right surroundings. Giving me council would enable me to show my true abilities in leadership, determination, and fortitude. Like I said previously, Application Manager is simpler than I thought – I need a challenge. I know what is in my limits, I wouldn’t sign up for something I couldn’t do.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
The Wilderness Guardians needs a role model who will portray what it means to wear the purple cape around your neck. I can provide excellent knowledge in managing events, applications, forums, irc, and heck, even the wilderness. I can supply fresh new ideas and be a mature, organized leader, but at the same time be a goofy and friendly clan mate. I was in WG in our best time, yet also at our worst of times. I know what the differences were and I know what can be done to regain our spot as a top clan. I would listen to every member’s suggestions and complaints, and analyze it to help create a solution. Our main focus should be activity, I would find new methods of getting people active, and more importantly keeping them active.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
The most important factor that I pass most other people in is activeness. From the moment I walk in the door after school to the moment I go to bed at night, I’m most likely on the forums, irc, and/or runescape. Being an Application Manager showed me a glimpse of what is to come. I have experience in being an Admin on forums, as well as a mod on irc. I promise consitency in my work, rather than doing some good things then going inactive.
I'm down-to-earth. I know what's right, wrong, dumb, smart, usefull, etc.
Oh, and I have a pretty good clan history. Iv'e witnessed WG (at the top), Collision (before the NH stuff), and Eternal Honor all from my own eyes. I did notice a few things in each.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
I’m generally younger than the other applicants. I can’t say that my decision would be the wisest, due to lack of experience.
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)
Community/Skills... although I do have great experience in Fighting. I think my skills in moderating and event holding would be a more helpful, though.
9. Is there anything else you would like to say?
Most people talk the talk but can’t walk the walk. If I told you five thousand more words of things I could never do, what’s the point? I have stated what would truly make me a better council than the rest, and there is nothing that I can’t do that I say I can.
Oh, and I know me going away this summer is probably a good reason to like auto-decline me, which is understandable. I thought putting this application in would not only give me a slight chance this time, but also open the doors of opportunity for any future elections.
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
Yes.
By Kiwi011 on 25/04/2008
wow good luck to the applicants tbh.
By George on 25/04/2008
I have applied twice for this.
Last time I lost by 2 votes to Steve. 1 vote more and we would of been tied.
This time I don't think I will apply.
I refuse to join the council as inactive and right now I cannot be active.
In 2 weeks I start my exam leave for a period of 4 weeks until my exams finish.
After that I will be incredibly active, however for the first four weeks of this position I won't be and in that time I would want to be getting to know the job and starting to work with the other council.
So I will not be applying this time.
I assure you, my dedication is still extremely strong and I will re-apply at the earliest (next) opportunity.
I wish everyone good luck. Read the warnings, take them seriously, don't let the position destroy your spirit

Whoever gets this position can rely on my 100% support.

Yay! goodluck to whoever runs for council! Make us proud when you get it.
By David on 25/04/2008
I'd apply, but I can't. Oh well. In any case, to those who do, good luck! I'm sure you'll need all the support you can get if you get the position.
By NOW on 25/04/2008
man only if i was still back in wg and with my higher member status :'( i would apply
By Winddancir on 25/04/2008
I already know, that although there are probably several that would like to see me apply for council, that I will NOT be applying for the position. I feel that I would not be the ideal person. I can have a short temper under stress, I have other things that come first before WG. (Not many, but a few)
To those applying. All those warnings are accurate. You will be put through a lot of stress. You will have people coming to you at all times, asking for this and that. They will do their best to annoy the **** out of you. There will be times when you will think, "Seriously, if I didn't love this clan, I'd murder each and every person in it."
May you walk into this knowing that all the warnings are underestimated. There is more than you will know, until you experience it. And even then, something new, just to throw you off.
~Wind
By Buzzard1985 on 25/04/2008
Not sure If I should apply or not, I can handle the stress. Just I'm not really as active as I'd like to be.
By Renoldojr10 on 25/04/2008
Good luck to all applying please make sure you do whats best for the clan not for yourself and most importantly have the time to take care of everyone's need. If you need any tips holler.

Like I've said before, good luck to whoever thinks they have the guts to be Council. Randy, you might be a good applicant but I think we really need an ACTIVE Council member during the summer months were Scapers are most active. It is vital that we have great leadership during that period of time. Other then that good luck to all

Hey guys, decided I would apply after thinking for about an hour. For those of you that do not know me, my IRC name is Buzz. My IRL name is Kyle, I live in Canada, I'm a 15 year old High School student currently in Grade 10, I play lots of video games, mainly CoD4 (Call of Duty4).
I hope you vote on who deserves this position the most, but not on popularity itself. Good luck to everybody else.
Application for Council
1. Have you read and understood the warning?
Yes.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
I think that I can last long term in council because I don't have a lot of stress in real life, most council members before the current council have left because of stress and I doubt that I'll join them. I have a pretty relaxed real life, school is my main thing right now. Also, I know that I will have support keeping me there, I will have those friends of mine in WG that will support me if something happens.
For the people that don't read everything: I have less stress in my life than most people, and I have support of my friends to keep me going.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
Not anything big, I have a school trip in May, and my yearly summer vacation in August, I will be gone for 2 weeks but the rest of the summer I will be around. Other than those 2 things I'm not going to be busy at all.
4. Why are you applying for council?
I want the rank! /sarcasm... No seriously, I'm applying because I know that I can make WG a better place, I know that I can help people with problems they have and with anything they need help with, if you PM me and ask something I will answer you (if I'm not at school, I idle a lot in IRC) I will listen to you and try to answer to the best of my ability. I also think that it's time for me to step up and do my part in WG, I've been here for close to 2 years now and I've watched council after council do great things for the clan, it's my turn.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
WG needs somebody that will listen to their problems, somebody that will try to get things done for them, somebody that will try to get events in their timezone if they are lacking. I'm willing to stay up as late as I possibly can every night, to help WG, and her members get what they need.
I am here for anybody who needs my help, if you need it and I'm not on PM me or leave me a message on IRC, which I will usually ALWAYS be on.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
I know my limits, I know when to stop and when enough has been said/done.
I've been around WG long enough to know what needs to be done and who needs help. I've been around WG long enough to know what a lot of people want to do event wise. I've been around WG long enough to grow to love it and it's members, we're a family.
I will keep trying to do something until I can't anymore, if I'm told I'm trying to hard I know that it will be worth it, WG is my job, my family, my friends. For you guys, I'd do anything.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
I sometimes answer questions too quickly, I know I said I'd listen to people, which I do, but sometimes I just don't think things through. I do however go back and answer the question with the right response because I know what I said was wrong, and I want to give the person who asked the question the right answer.
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)
Community/Skills Type.
9. Is there anything else you would like to say?
I hope you vote purely on how good of a job the person will do, not on popularity. I also would like to say may the best men/women win, and I hope that whoever does get the council spots do a hell of a job and make WG the best clan to be in!
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
Yes.
By Indivi2you on 26/04/2008
Hmm, after a long thought and advice from friends and such. I have decided to apply for the position. I will be posting my Application most likely tomorrow.
Good luck to all who also apply.

Application for Council
1. Have you read and understood the warning?
-Yes, i have read the warning and completely understand what i am applying for.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
-I've been around for quite some time now. Many members know me, and know how i function. I am usually always calm, and from seeing past council members i have gathered some information. They have lost a lot of time of playing runescape from the position. I have time to give up. My life is at a point where i can devote to WG as i have for the last almost 16 months.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
- Nothing will make me "highly inactive". I am always around for WG, and ready to attend events and give time. The most part would be my exams at the end of the school year. But i can still take part in WG.
4. Why are you applying for council?
-Well, first off, i have been given many push ons from the current members. I know i have the right material for WG's council spot. I do my best to always help, i try and keep things going for WG. It may not make the most difference, but anything is anything. Right? I know i have the time and devotion for this position. I've been giving that to WG for a decent time. Again, I've seen so many councils, and what they have done. I learned so much from each and everyone of them. The right and wrongs, what to do and what not to do.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
-Off the time I've seen, WG has an amazing community. The best in all Clans in my opinion. Now, to show that we use great events, chat in the IRC, and have great reputation in the clan world because of our amazing members and their kindness. WG has bloomed on and off, I'm trying to make it bloom more! WG needs not only new events, but More events! I hold several events, and different variety of them too. If we can make events with Allies too, it brings together a strong tie. We have to stay intact with our allies, greet them nicely too.
One of my thoughts i have been over and over in my minds is the Mentoring system. It played such a crucial role in getting new members, and teaching them what to do. It shows that they don't have to be shy. They can ask questions to just 1 person and gradually blend in. Although I've been over it with council and Abs, we can't bring it back. I want to make sure the new members are greeted in. They need to be aware of how nice we are, and what we are willing to show them. This brings it back to the community.
Now, on to activity. WG is due for an activity check. I know there is one going on, that is vital for what we need for wars and events. I'll be sure to hold more of these. It only helps, and shows that we can overcome.
Now back to events. I will go from clan to clan, and WG vs. WG. This teaches us to stay together and have some fun, while moving out and having intercourse with other clans. This doesn't just mean our alliances. I mean clans that have a true name in skilling, or monster hunting, or have fun events such as ours.
I just want to make sure that people know who i am. I don't want my writing to go off saying a bunch of things and then me not doing it. I am not the best writer, but hopefully i can get the council position off what people already know about me, and know that I'm fit for the spot.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
-I will stress 3 things that i think are major roles that help me prove worthy for the council position.
1. My devotion and time to WG - I've been with WG for a pretty long period in time. Always showing my best for WG, making events and helping people whenever they need it.
2. My Maturity - To speak the truth, i believe i am more mature than half the clan. My age may come to your thoughts, but i behave nowhere near what people come to think. When a seriously problem comes up, i am there to solve it out figure it out and do everything possible to help.
3. My Activity - I have come to the conclusion that i feel confident to say that i am the most active person in WG when it comes to events, being in game, on the IRC and TS. I not only come to events, i host events regularly. I think brings in a huge factor to why i am worthy for the position.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
- I will come out and speak the truth. I have never been in a leader/council position. So i cannot say that i know what it's like. I am aware that this position will not only take up my real life time, but also my Runescape time. I am most definitely ready to give both up. The stress comes in mind, but i think 'I've been with WG for so long already, nothing can stop me from staying long.' I am fully determined to help WG with 110% of my energy.
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)
-I am applying for the Community/Skills council position.
9. Is there anything else you would like to say?
-Well, for those who know me, and those who don't. I am not the best writer. All i can do is try to put my thoughts off writing on this computer. All i can say is, don't only look at the application. Look at what not only I have done, but all the other applicants. And then decide who to choose.
-Good luck to EVERYONE that applies. I wish you all only the very best! And whoever is chosen will fit the spot perfectly.
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
-Yes, i agree.
Thanks for reading,
~Saad/Indivi2you

Application for Council1. Have you read and understood the warning?Of course.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?Firstly, I have had a Leadership position in a (much) smaller clan before, and obviously this involved much less work than running WG. However this has given me a base of experience from which to build on, I feel I have built up a fairly good understanding of the MOD-CP system over the last 8-10 months of being a tertiary leader, and I am sure my previous experience in Clan Leading will only help me in being able to manage these forums.
Also, I am currently the longest serving Tertiary Leader, having been a Skill Leader before the sector merge, at which point I got changed to moderator rank. I would hope that over this time I would have earned the respect and friendship of a decent group of WG members, and surely having a large group of friends will only assist in the longevity I have already shown.
This long stint being a tertiary leader has only helped to improve my skills as a Leader, throughout my term I have arranged and run a large amount of events (varying from the occasional Raid, to skills events such as Blast Furnace and Tears of Guthix). Along with this I had to work along with our allies on several occasions, particularly when arranging our second round of Skill Olympics against 3v0 (which we incidentally won by a good 12m XP). As a result I think I have a fairly decent standing with our allies, having already had quite a bit to do with TDM since the formation of our alliance.
To Summarise (I will do this for every question that needs it):
~I have previous experience in leading both during and before my time at WG
~I am the longest serving current Tertiary leader, having been Skills leader/Mod for around 8 Months
~I have the skills required for this position, ranging from event leadership to Diplomacy3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive? The only time I anticipate myself becoming inactive within the next 6 months is one or two 2-week periods where I will be going home and potentially working full time while there. If I am not working I still won’t be as active as usual but this is only a maximum of 4 weeks where I won’t be able to pull all nighters whenever I like
~I may be less active during the university holidays (2 x 2 week breaks)4. Why are you applying for council?I have put my heart and soul into WG during my time here, and I think that being elected to council can only improve my ability to put into practice the ideas that I do have. Though most of the members here do not see it, I have spent quite a few hours doing work behind the scenes for WG which sadly is often not able to be implemented. Hopefully with the opportunities associated with being a member of the council I would be able to improve some of the aspects of the clan that I feel are lacking at the moment.
I am also applying for council because I feel that I have the determination to outlast the 6 months that the ‘average’ council member lasts (is there such thing as an average council member?). As I said before I was the leader of my previous clan, which I lasted over 6 months in a very stressful situation where my Co-Leader wasn’t there at all. Though I’m sure being a WG council member will be infinitely harder than leading a 60 member clan I feel that this back-round can only help me last as a council member.
~Becoming council would allow some of my work that previously has been ignored to be used better
~I feel I have the staying power to outlast the ‘average’ 6 months
~I have a fairly good back-round in clan leading which I am sure can only improve5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member? For the community sector of WG I think there are several things that need some improvement. Previously WG used to have a pretty decent reputation for having fun community events (look at the WG photo archives and you see some awesome community events) which seems to have slumped recently. I would like to establish a forum based around Real Life (for want of a better term) gaming to encourage WG members to work together not only within WG/Runescape, but also within the other online games they play such as CoD4 or Halo 3. An increase in community related RS events would also be one of my goals.
I also feel the current WG application system; particularly the referrals section is in need of a bit of work to make them more efficient. The problem I see with referrals at the moment is there is a massively varying standard for which they are written, which needs to be improved. I would also like to see a return of the Mentor/Mentee system as this helped to pair older clan members with the newer ones, and I feel since the mentor system has been abandoned interaction between new members and older members has fallen.
Overall I feel that the clan as whole would benefit from an increase in events between our current allies and us. Of particular importance is ‘Fu n’ events between us and our allies, as for the main part we run combat based events, and I think more skills/community events with our allies. In particular I would like to take advantage of TDM’s similar community orientation to host friendly events.
I am sure that once I had access to Level 4 forums I would be able to examine more issues that I can’t see at this moment
~ More IRL gaming (perhaps a forum/sub-forum)
~More Community events both with WG and our allies
~Overhaul the Application system, particularly the referrals section
~Re-introduce the mentor System6. What puts you above other people applying for council?I think I have a huge range of skills that set me apart from the other applicants, consisting of:
My age/Maturity- I am 19 years old, and I do consider myself one of the more mature acting members of WG. Anyone who has seen me making an important decision will know full well that I consider all sides first and take my time to make sure I am doing the right thing.
My determination- Everyone looks at my combat level as a bad thing…. But do you realise the sole reason it is so low is because for the last year or so I have been training exclusively via slayer, it’s slower but it shows how once I decide to do something I don’t give up. This is also shown by the fact that I have just spent 15m+ on crafting even though I now can barely have 20m left.
My Activity- I do believe that even though I am not the fastest trainer in WG, I am one of the more active. My event attendance has suffered recently after I was hospitalised, however as you can see from this week’s attendance I can only get better

Council Relationship- Since I have been a tertiary leader I have had the opportunity to work with all the members of the current council quite allot, so I know that if I do get a council spot I will be able to work with my co-leaders.
~I am 19 Years old, and fairly mature for my age
~I am very determined, and stick to my goals
~I can be extremely active in forums, IRC and in-game as my ~3m XP this week shows
~I know the current council fairly well, and can work well with them7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?I would have to say my greatest weakness as a leader is my relatively low combat level. I hope that people can get over the fact that I am not the fastest combat trainer and recognise that I do have some awesome skills regardless of that. Also I do intend to increase my combat training if I was to get the council position and achieve at least 110 F2p Cmb.
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)Well I’m not exactly going to be going for Warlord am I? Community/Skills type please
9. Is there anything else you would like to say?All I can say Is please read all the application’s, don’t vote for someone just because you like them as council elections are one of the most important decisions that WG members will make.
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks’ notice if you wish to resign?Of course.

But those that have applied, I think they are ALL worthy of the spot so this is shaping up to be a great set of nominees.

In a way, it's meant to scare off people. If they read the warnings, then decide that maybe this isn't the best thing for themselves and the clan, at least they have had the choice.
If they read the warnings, and keep them in mind as they write, it will help them be stronger.
Let the wind blow through and around you, bend with it, and you will survive. Stand too hard against it, and you will break. Learn to dance in the wind...

Application for Council
- Dalejamesw
1. Have you read and understood the warning?
● Yes.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
● I think i can last long term council because there isn't much in real life to stress me which is often a current factor which takes Council members down, my parents are laid back which offers me maximum activity, I have always stuck by WG through thick and thin and i wouldn't even think about stopping as a Council Member. Also activity most people who would like to apply can hardley say they go events, they may be on IRC or the Forums yet at events you are getting involved and seeing how people feel after all we're a Runescape clan and in all my 8 Months in WG, i haven't once gone inactive, i have always maintained my high Activity rate aswell as Event Activity rate.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
● No.
4. Why are you applying for council?
● I am applying to Council to help WG carry on improving and to make everyone in WG happy. I would ensure you that i would be active and always willing to help any member despite any problems we may have had in the past, ill always be there in Game, IRC and the forums. I also like to tend to do forum work etc.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
● Events - If voted into the Council as a representative of Community and Events
I have a few changes that I would immediately like to do: Firstly employ a New Aussie/Est Event Leader, who is able to create events to support Aussies with Events, I have tried a few times to make events for you guys however i don't feel its possible for me to do so considering my timezone so hopefully a new Event leader will solve that. I would like to be hitting at least 3 Events per week which each appeal to each timezone.
I would also like to introduce more competitive events ranging from Intra-Clan competitive to Wildguard vs Other Clans, and not just Wars, such as the long awaited Skill Olympics and a newly awaited Combat Olympics.
● Alliances - I would like our Alliances to grow stronger, i must admit recently we have grew a stronger relationship with some of our alliances however i would like to maintain it and try to take it that one step futhur.
● Inactives - We have a memberlist of around 100 people but do our war and other event attendances show that? No. I would often carry out Inactivity checks to prune the inactives away, also why should inactives get all the attention? I will be praising the Active and finding ways to reward them.
There is more but i'd rather not just base my application on things i will do IF i get the position, however to keep it simple i would be a Council member which would pretty much Always be thier at events to answer Your questions and help with your problems.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
● I am probably the most Active Applicant In Game, Forums and IRC, i'm at most if not All Events, my Timezone makes it possible to be active when the majority of the clan are online so i will be easy to contact for the majority of members, i also haven't once gone inactive in my WG Time and have always maintained my Event activity rates.
I've always been dedicated to WG. I am not just going for the rank to boast about the Status im going for it to make a difference and keep WG rising.
Im also aware of the Jobs which have to be carried out by the Council having seen Council members come and go and learning from them, I also have experience in Admin CP.
I also believe i am laid back however won't be pushed over and i am willing to have a laugh. Also which other applicant can say they have recruited like crazy? Which other applicant can say they visit thier allies daily? I like to think i am a nice person and anyone can talk to me about problems they may have within the clan. Council involves interacting with other clans and not just allys, which i do everyday.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
● Personally i have yet to discover a major weakness however i do sometimes like to Joke around but if that isn't done carefully in a Leadership position then it could be fatal, hopefully everyone knows that i'm like that and i know when enough is enough.
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)
● Community/Skills Type.
9. Is there anything else you would like to say?
● Like most applicants will say please read the Applications and don't base it off your friends, Keep in mind, who will be active? is half of thier application made up? Well…that’s about it from me. I may not be the best writer and hopefully you will take into consideration my past actions for the clan aswell as the Application I really hope that you’ll consider voting for me, I guarantee you that i won't let the people that need me, down. Please also remember person you vote into Council will play a major part in WGs future. Good luck to other applicants and lets hope you can Fill your points and keep WG rising. Once again im not that good at writing long essays however hopefully you take into consideration my past actions as a teritary and member of WG.
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
● Yes.
By Troll84 on 26/04/2008
A very interesting set of applicants here

I know who i would vote for if there's a vote for it? Though i do not wish to say just yet in order for me to try and keep an open mind. If all of the policies that the applicants have put forward are implimented, i'm sure this clan could benefit greatley

Good luck to all those who have/will app

May the best man (or woman!) win!

Application for Council
1. Have you read and understood the warning?
Yes.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
I think I could last long term within the council as I do not get stressed out that much. A lot of council members before me have left due to too much stress from the work and I do not believe that I will be joining them. Ive also held leadership positions in real life such as teaching in taekwondo.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
Yes I go on holiday for 2 weeks in august, I might have slight access from a laptop but thats all.
4. Why are you applying for council?
I have decided to apply for council to prove myself that I am capable of doing this. I have been in wg for little over 2 years now and I love it here. A council position would help me to ensure the future of WG for others. I feel like I could step up well to the position and within the council surroundings it will enable me to show my abilities that I have.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
Right now what WG needs the most is a role model council who will show them what it means to be WG. Ive been in WG throughout thick and thin. Ive seen how things change and how this could have an affect on me to take action in a council position and what we need to do in order to progress further as a top clan. I would help out wherever I can and take new suggestions and complaints from all members new and old to help create a solution so that the clan is able to run better as a whole. I would help on increasing our fighting activity but also making sure these people stay active.
I also believe that we need to strengthen our ties with our allied clans. We would benefit from more events with our allies. We should be hosting more events other then just war based events with our allies and maybe even try to set up another skill war.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
The thing that puts me above the other applicants is my awesome activity. Im on RS morning noon and night. Especially with this new college times which gives me 1 day off a week and 2 half days I have much spare time to play. Also my age at 17 and being fairly mature makes me older then most other applicants. I also do know when it is time to joke around and can have a laugh. Also my determination on my RS goals lately I have achieved my 99 Defense and the possession of a Bandos god sword. The last thing I believe which puts me above others is that I have a strong relationship with the council as I have been in WG for such a long time so I know them on a personal level. I have even met with Stokenut and Snowzak in real life.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
My greatest weakness in terms of being a leader is my lack of experience compared to some of the others so my decision may not be the wisest.
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)
The position i am mainly applying for is Community/Skills.although I do have experience in Fighting.
9. Is there anything else you would like to say?
All id like to ask is that you read my application and believe that I will do a good job instead of voting for me as your friend and the same for all other applicants.
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
Yes.

Very fine ones indeed.
It's gonna be a hard choice....

1. Have you read and understood the warning?
Yes

I am motivated, active, and loyal and won't give up
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
No
4. Why are you applying for council?
I've been in WG for a long time now, over a year since I last rejoined. There are many things that we can work on, and I will help to those things as council.
Also, my avatar would go very well with an orange name
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
What we need is a strong and friendly community, more organisation and experience in wars, and an active, loyal, and mature member base.
I will help us improve all of the above
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
I am very active, I check forums at least once every 12 hours, and am on for 3+ hours a day
I am mature, especially for my age, which i will not mention
I'm also dedicated, and will do anything that needs to be done

The 'Warlord' Option is off the list, and there is now TWO Community type Council that will be elected.
Reason: We already have two main warlords, So after much debate in a Council Meeting, we would benefit more from two Community/Skills Council.

By Samurai-JM on 27/04/2008
Samurai's Application for CouncilHeck yes I'm doin it.
1.
Have you read and understood the warning?-Absolutely. I've seen more council members go up and down in my time than most have, and I fully understand all of the risks. You know I'll take on the full weight of the consequences of pursuing such a position.
2.
What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?-Again, I've been here. A long time. You all know that I've lingered around here longer than old cheese. I know how this clan works inside and out and even though I don't play the game, I think I can help from the outside looking in, a perspective not too many have nowadays. As a long lasting member of WG I'm familiar with many of our members and can work on a more personal level to help solve problems in the community, which is also something I've been having great influence in doing in my job IRL. I'm one of the few decently active Emertii (plural of Emertius?) and soon as Finals are over next week I'll have loads of free time on my hands.
3.
Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?-4 MONTHS OF SUMMER. I'll be more active than ever before. Also don't forget that I have no life whatsoever, so I'm on hand on a computer somewhere more or less at all times. Unless some ridiculous unforeseen event should occur, I'm good to go.
4.
Why are you applying for council?-I'm a power hungry noob who is hungry for power. Seriously though, I've always wanted to do more than sit back and let things go, I'd love to be part of the council and really make a difference in what goes on in the community, which is exactly why I applied last time(but then dropped out due to inactivity). Nothing pleases me more in this world than changing things for the better, and that is exactly what I plan on doing. Of course I'd suck as a fighting council as I don't play anymore, but in the community I think I could make a real difference. It's what I do! + I <3 this clan.
5.
What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?-It needs me on council, and I'll fix that problem obviously. I know one of the huge problems in this clan over the years has been the menace of E-DRAMA. I seek to solve that issue and eliminate it f o r e v e r. Upholding the ideas of bringing people together and uniting them under a common purpose, but keeping personal issues between members private between them and the council is one of my main concerns, and I think I'd do a great job to fix it and keep it that way.
6.
What puts you above other people applying for council?-Experience for one thing. I've been here on and off for... what 3-4 years? I was an honoured member back in the day, which was when I first applied for council before going inactive. Not many of us can say that and I'm pretty proud of it to be honest. I was a moderator for at least a while in the gallery and I kept it clean when it was needed. Anyway, I know how most aspects of this clan works inside and out, in the community at least, and I believe I could make a real difference for the clan. I know just about everybody who comes onto the IRC and I can quickly meet everybody that I haven't had a chance to yet due to school. Anyone that wants to talk can just PM me here and I'll give ya a long list of contact details over the internets!

7.
What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?-I'm too nice.

But for something such as getting feedback and connecting with members, I can't really see much other than inactivity, which won't be a problem over the Summer.
8.
Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)-Community definitely. You guys know I'm rather active nowadays for an emeritus, I'm on IRC rather frequently now and I feel that I can connect with people. I'd be great for getting feedback and fixing any issues before they get out of control, and I love doing stuff like that.
9.
Is there anything else you would like to say?

WOOGEE4LYFE

and proud of it. And yes, I'm serious.
vote for me and I make you sigs and love you long time!10.
Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?-Unless I kill myself from stress, sure why not?

Application for Council
1. Have you read and understood the warning? Yes. I fully understand what is in store from me. I have been warned and I thank you for the warning.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council? Well, I have led a clan which did succeed in making it as a minor success. I myself was responsible for 95% of the success due to my high activity and massive dedication. I didn't give up. I was forced away as a leader after my trusted High Council hacked my forums account and spread racist stuff about my forums. I am also dedicated. I stuck by my old clan for over 6 months, through the sleeplessness, the disopointment, and even the mental torture.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive? No.
4. Why are you applying for council? I want to make a difference to WG. I have always respected the council, Abs and Lordy. I have always dreamed of at least being near what they are and being near accomplishing what they have done. Council is more than just a rank, it's a passion. You must have a passion to want council, to improve WG. I have that passion and I have had it for a long time. Ever since I joined DG in 2005. Thus, why I am applying.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?WG needs a strong community base. Full of active, loyal and friendly members. Wg you may say is big and wouldn't have a problem with the activity. We do, having a lot of members means nothing. What it comes down to is the member base. If the loyal and active member base isn't strong, then having tons of members doesn't help. If I get council, I will try my best to improve this. This aspect and others. The aspect I would like to improve most however, is the applications. These days there is no more good intros or good apps. It's all just a few words here a few words there and wham, accepted. This shouldn't be like this. Wg was supposed to be one of the most prestigious clans in the whole of Runescape. If I got council, I would improve it back to it's former glory and that might lead to less people leaving. If you work hard for something, your not likely to give it up so easy.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council? I have, as I said, led my own clan in the past. We managed to become a minor success. The clan was active and slowly growing into a major league clan. I was responsible for a lot of the clan’s success. Due to my activity, good ideas, logic and fairness. I also have alot of experiance in leading. Not just from leading a clan, I was in the Army Cadets at the age of 13. I was a corpral there and my key duties were to keep people in line, help out with the main comanding of it.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader? I was sometimes sort of bias towards some people. For example people that I knew IRL and I was good friends with, I sometimes gave them promotions without the effort. I have in fact grown out of this and I am now firm and fair.
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)The community.
9. Is there anything else you would like to say? Not really. But I would like to say, good luck to all those who apply.
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign? Yes.
By Sir Wolfoo on 27/04/2008
Sir Wolfoo is no longer running for council as he has been forced into inactivity by a poor connection/laptop. Please check the inactivity forum for more info. ~EvilApplication for Council1. Have you read and understood the warning?Yes, read and understood. Known so many WG council and I understand whats in for me.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?Been in this clan for a very long time and even when things start to go bad i stayed and helped out the clan by being a member of it.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?Well I have summer courses (like only 2) So have some inactivity during the first month of the summer. After that i have alot of free time to work and help out the clan
4. Why are you applying for council?Being in the council means helping the whole of WG and the leaders. Seeing as the leaders are in need of help made me want to help out at a large scale together with the leaders.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?Been in the clan for more than 3 years. As a long time serving member of the clan i know what the clan needs the most. What the members of WG need.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?a very experienced member of wg. I'm 0ld sk00l

.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?I get angry.
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)Community. The most important thing in a clan is its community. With a good community members will be happy being in the clan.
9. Is there anything else you would like to say?My app is kind of short. Spent an more than an hour on it

So may the

be with all applicants
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?Yes.

Same honestly.
I really think I could do a nice job here and I had myself convinced of it last night.
However, I won't be throwing my name in the hat. I realize that it is best for me as an individual to move on and try to focus more on school work instead of adding something else to take up my time.
Plus I like advising from the sidelines anyways.

These are all fine applicants.. I honestly think Sam deserves a shot, if he is willing.
I was council twice for about 7 or 8 months each time. It is incredibly stressful and very rewarding.
It does seem though as soon as you are there, some people want to do nothing but take you down.
Whoever ends up on council just remember, take it one day at a time and don't forget to leave some time for yourself, if you don't you will burn out.

Application for Council1. Have you read and understood the warning? Of course.2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?WG is the one and only clan.
I would never leave WG for anything. The strongest reason for me to continue play runescape, is WG. Friendship is stronger than any game. With all my friends in WG I couldn't be able to leave for any other game.
I will never, as far as I can think of, stop using computers, which means I'll never leave WG.
I can probably handle the stress and all since I've got lots of spare time to work on.
I only lasted a few weeks as application manager, but that was due to me leaving Runescape. But after a while of being gone from runescape, I realised that there was something missing and so I returned.
It was NOT the stress or anything that made me leave the possition as application manager, it was just that I saw myself as a no good application manager since I wasn't able to keep up with all the changes in the clan world and the game itself.3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?I of course have school every day (GMT +1) but the rest of my time I'll be mostly active as a part of WG.
I will though be inactive for about 5 days around the 15th to 19th of May and also the 25th that same month. This is due to my music in school. I will though be on mostly 24/7 for the 4 months after the 25th of May.4. Why are you applying for council?Because I've been around for a pretty long time and I've been following the changes in WG. I know what is needed to be done. I've also been the leader and creator of a Battlefield 2 clan. You may think that being the leader of a Battlefield 2 clan has got nothing to do with being the council of a Runescape clan but it is.
It was actually very much alike.
We had events and such just as here against other clans. And applications were needed for the people who were joining. The clan got so far that we got sponsored with a Battlefield 2 server which usually cost around 50$ a month.
That helped me learn almost everything about invision forums.
I know most things needed for both the Admin CP and Mod CP.
I also know how to arrange events with other clan leaders and most of that and I think that it will be really helpfull.
I apply so that I can be able to help WG.5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?WG needs new blood.
And by new blood I do not only mean new members. I mean more and new events. I feel that the community and skill events have started to become less. Many WG members are skillers or community people who are in it for the fun. But they are sometimes forced to only go to fighting events without being able to come to any skills or community events.
This is how the event stats are right now.
As you can see here, the fighting events are WAY more than the skilling events.
And the skilling events are almost as many as the community events.
Yes, the fighting events should be a bit more than the skilling events, I can agree with you on that point.
BUT.
It shouldn't be this much of a difference.
I would like the difference between skilling and fighting events to be around 10% up to 25% but not 45%!
And yes, the community events are fun and such but for god sake, not as important as skilling or fighting events! I would though not want the community events to become less, I would like the skilling events to become more.
As a Community/skills council I will try to make the skilling events become more but not as many or more than the fighting events.6. What puts you above other people applying for council?I'm active and if I'm needed at some event or with mostly anything I'll be there.
I have a pretty high knowledge about the invision forums which actually isn't just some small thing. The forums are really important for the clan. The forums makes the clan come together and be a clan.7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader? One of my weaknesses is that my main language isn't english. I'm - as most of you probably know - from Sweden. And swedes intend to have a rather weird but still understandable accent when they talk engish. I will as council start using my mic at important events or if it's needed. Hope you'll be able to understand me though
It's not that bad, I'm just a bit ashamed
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)Community/Skills Type.9. Is there anything else you would like to say? Thanks for making this the best Runescape clan.10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign? Yes.~Zeth

How in the world did you come up with those stats Zeth?
They are probably right, I'm just curious where you got them.

I just looked at the 90 last event recaps and wrote down how many of each events there were.
I know that some events don't get recaps but that's mostly the non-important events.

Application for Council1. Have you read and understood the warning?Yes I have.
2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council? I think I can last a long time in council because really, I have been in WG a year now since I rejoined and have stayed quite active even when my RS account was locked. I have the ability to deal with lots of stress even if it looks like I can’t handle it sometimes, because my main method of getting rid of stress is to vent and slowly relax and get back into it. I also have no intention on leaving WG in the future and would do anything to help WG out and offer my ability. I have a nice easy summer also which will give me time to get to understand the position I receive fully and whole heartedly. I am also 17 years old and going to be a senior next year in high school. I believe myself to be mature when the situation needs it and also can differentiate when there is time to just have fun and mess around. I have been inactive in the past in RS but recently I have been active and soon will be much more involved than I have been these past two weeks. I also think I would last through a long time period because I love to meet the new members and communicate with them on the mIRC and help them get to understand the WG family better.
3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive? No, there is no foreseeable event that should make me inactive in anyway.
4. Why are you applying for council? Why am I applying for council? Well first and foremost, I am applying to help WG out and return what you guys, what WG has given me. I want to return that favor and do all that I can to help you out. Second, I have always been one of those members who sees things wrong and complains to council, well I want to see who I have been complaining too and experience the trouble I have caused myself. With this, I also want to be able to tell you what we are going to do about this problem and why it’s taking so long and what we are also doing to help WG out and make the community and the clan better as a whole. Lastly, I am applying for council so, no matter what happens, I can go “I tried” and look at myself in the mirror and know that I just wasn’t WG’s choice and the guy taking my spot or the sot I am taking was the clans decision and that’s all that really matters and who gets the spot deserves it fully.
5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?Well, personally I think WG needs to focus on inactive member and why they can not fill out a simple yes I can come, no I can’t come and post it on the forums on war preps. It’s a simple matter but needs addressing and I think 1colonel1 hit it when he brought up the problem himself
HERE To grow in the fighting area of the clan we need activity. I no many of you want to be at least top 20 in the RAW. Well, the only way to do that is to have all of you participate in wars, whether they be practice, prep, or full out and lets also not forget Binding and hybrids lol..
We also need to work on coordinating some allied events with our allies. Much more than we have, because I seriously doubt very few if any members, including myself know more than 10 people well in each of our allies clans. This is a huge problem. I would work to try to help coordinate some events, maybe some Trawler, Castle Wars events, some fun Bronze Wars or Snowball fights for Christmas in July at CWA. We need to incorporate our allies into our clan and become friends with them and actually know who they are and make friendships.
WG events, well tonight I noticed a certain member complaining about not having any Aussie timed God Wars events. Well, that’s probably true for many other events and many other Aussies and GMTers who feel left out and may leave because of this. We need new time zone based leaders also who can help make events and keep the whole clan active.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?Well, heres a couple points I have over the other members-
*I was a Council member for my old clan Tunescape, it was mostly a moderator position but my job was mainly to keep the guest forums clean. First week I start, a rival clan started putting gay porno up which I had to delete and ip ban. I did this at least five times a day and it went on for over 2 weeks. I was pretty much scared in that position by what I saw as most of you would also. But I kept at it and eventually whoever/whatever was doing it stopped and it blew over.
*Well, I am 17 and going to be a senior next year and I believe I am more mature than some and can see all sides of an argument before taking a side.
*I have not been active before two weeks ago, but since I got my account p2p and unlocked I have been active and have been to most of the practice sessions and wars we have had and no I can be one of the more active council members. Before my account was locked at the end of the summer, I was also one of the top10 most active on the events and stayed up there and am sure I can do that now as well.
*Well, I can admit I am wrong and need help sometimes and I am completely willing to listen to anyone vent or suggest something to me and bring it up with the council or help that member myself. I am not stuck up and full of myself and know my limits and am also willing to ask for help not just give it.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader? My greatest weakness, well that would have to be Procrastination. I have a tendency to hold things off till the last second and get lost in it. However, whenever I have been confronted with a problem because of this, I have still gotten through it and worked on. In RS, my greatest weakness would have to be my hate of quests……they just disappoint me and I hate doing them.
8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)I am pretty sure the fighting type was taken off, and even if it wasn’t I would have to go with Community and Skills. I am pretty sure my amazing hybrid skills are good enough for Fighting type though…..But seriously not really.
9. Is there anything else you would like to say?Well, really the only thing I have to say is that I hope everyone who votes reads peoples applications and votes on ideals and so on, not just for their friends…
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?Yes I agree, I do not have a problem with this and think it seems quite simple to do.
Yes I realize my rank is emeritus, but I have asked multiple people multiple time to make my rank higher/elite and none have yet done so and I have been active for over two weeks so I think I am eligible to make this since I shouldn't be an emeritus right now anyway. By Me9alomaniac on 01/05/2008
Wow those are some really good applications. Good luck to everyone who have applied, it's going to be a tough run with this kind of applicants.

Just a reminder that applications get closed tomorrow so if you have not submitted your application and plan to, get it done ASAP.

If you don't read the inactivity forum:
Sir Wolfoo has pulled out of the running for council as he has had problems with his computer/internet, as well as anticipating inactivity due to college exams.

Good luck to all
