My faith in humanity is dashed.
We COULD have had this.
That is all.

By WG_Keanu on 04/12/2010
If that didn't... obviously rigged.

By Kiwi011 on 04/12/2010
My facebook erupted with comments like "WTF is Qatar" etc since this has happened....... and imo Fuck that place, why would the world cup be there of all places?

By Reginlief 28 on 04/12/2010
lol it's supposed to be hot as hell there, hopefully the stadiums they build will be good and well air conditioned!

It SUCKS for Qatar because this will probably fuck over their economy, if not at least set it back a little. Oh well, FUCK them.

By Pazenon on 04/12/2010
Lol no offence but you guys are idiots and know nothing about football or the World Cup. Out of all the countries bidding against Qatar, only Australia had a real chance of competing against them since all the others (USA, Japan and Korea) had recently hosted a World Cup, so it would have been unfair to hand them a second one when they could simply take it to a new region. (part of FIFA's "spread the game" message)

Watch their final presentation before saying anything
http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/bidders/live/...3821/index.html

And take a look at SOME of their proposed stadiums here

if even china is still struggling with the expenses of the world cup....so ye how many new stadiums is qatar willing to build?

By Pazenon on 04/12/2010
12. Some are going to be upgraded but most are going to be built from scratch

They have one of the highest gdp per person in the world so i doubt it will ruin their economy.

I think the fact they won is due to the recycling of their stadiums to third world countries - how many of you actually watched qatars bid?

By Reginlief 28 on 04/12/2010
I didn't watch any of them lol

I'm not really upset that USA, my country, didn't get it, but Qatar? Oh well. 2014 is all that matters anyways.

By His_Lordship on 04/12/2010
Well Pazenon, I don't care, and I'm not an idiot.
Sure it would be nice to spread the love a little, but did you see the effing technology?

For once, the rest of the world can take a bullet and let Japan have a second helping. Worth it.

By ZurvivorMan on 04/12/2010

Nothing against Qatar as a country.
Only hate how they didn't just let Japan take it.

By Zooby69 on 04/12/2010

International events largely boost economies... sleep.gif

I agree though that Japan definitely had a way more innovative offer for the World Cup. Wish they would've have won.

A town on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

Great place to reside if you're a scum bag, beneficiary, criminal, or arsehole, then you can spend your weekends pissing your welfare money up against the wall at Moda or the Bull 'n' Gate.

Or you can stay at home and watch our gay mayor on dancing with the stars.

Well worth the journey........... my hairy nuts, It think it would be a much better town if we shot dead all the welfare bludging assholes, and turned castlecliff into a fenced off ghetto.

Other than that, nice place...really it is.

Mayor of Wanganui Michael Laws - "Damm i look good in spandex and makeup"

Member of the mongrel mob - " Lets go have a drink at Moda and spend all this hard earned welfare money"

That is a giant misconception. International events such as the World Cup typically cost more than they produce, however countries like Japan and USA and Korea can handle it. I'm assuming Qatar can handle it too but idk.

After the cup is said and done they will have a bunch of unused stadiums, I doubt they have a very successful soccer/football league in Qatar. Best of luck to them though.

I wish Japan would've won too =(

By Abmanju on 05/12/2010
WOW. Didn't know that, I know Japan owns like everything but WOW Japan you've outdone yourself this time.

GOOO JAPAN@!@!@

Shame they didn't win.
SHAME WE DIDN'T WIN 2018 FFS. WE HAVE ALL THE STADIUMS.

Their solution to this was probably the strongest aspect they had in their bid; after the 2022 finals they will dismantle the 12 stadiums and reduce their capacities in half, and with that they will build 22 new stadiums in developing nations.

Also, what school boy said ^ hash.png
