Shortkeys Guide.

By Jayson on 09/01/2011
This is a topic to help you set up shortkeys SHOULD YOU WANT IT.

Where to download it:

Click here and your download will start.

What to do:

After simply installing the program, next you run through the set up.

When asking about prefix keys, choose any key that will start the shortkeys program.

Mine is '*' on the num lock area.

Next you will have a page to write the code in.

Next click on the 'Add a shortkey' button.

Then for original shortkey you put in the code you type after the prefix key to get this special line of spam, followed by the line of chat in the big white box for what will be said.

I.E: For one line I have...

'78' as the code, and then says 'purple:shake: hash.png# W E A R E T H E W I L D E R N E S S G U A R D I A N S hash.png#'

so i type '*78' and get 'purple:shake: hash.png# W E A R E T H E W I L D E R N E S S G U A R D I A N S hash.png#'

Only use this if you want to, it is not mandatory.

can't you get banned for macroing if you do stuff like that?

Alot of people use them, and its not macroing, its auto typing.

But jagex arnt fussed that much if clans use them for wars.

By Mickey on 09/01/2011
Thought I wrote a guide for this already O huh.gif

They can't prove you're auto typing unless you personally say you use an auto typer outloud. They've said before that people are capable of typing that fast, so there's nothing they can do.

By Rodney75 on 09/01/2011
Play with fire.... My hands still hurt from last time.

By Nick on 09/01/2011
I only use it at wars, and I keep my message pretty basic to keep things looking somewhat legitimate.

I personally use the two keys \] on my keyboard for the spam. They are right next to enter and are next to each other, so it makes it really easy.

No, it's fine if you use it for clan spamming. As long as you don't abuse them it's completely fine. I've been using them for over a year and nothing has happened to me.

By Garrett on 09/01/2011
was i abusing it?

and id like to have lordy talk to mmg about this

By Armybuilder1 on 09/01/2011
I agree with Garrett I do use one. helps alot.
but mine are / then the other grammar signs

But i was always sketchy about using it if we could find out for sure

By Quikdrawjoe on 09/01/2011
Just don't do it often enough that it would be impossible to type that fast and nobody will care lolz

By Randy on 09/01/2011
Macfag here... :s

By Dallar on 09/01/2011
So the macrokeys on my keyboard are not allowed? Bull.. I'll do it anyway..

oh, and this. After all of that lol.

By Zooby69 on 10/01/2011
Doesn't work for me :/

By David on 10/01/2011
I'll just use my keyboard for that.

I've got like 12 macro keys to use, and 8 are already used up for more convenient placement of hotkeys (prayer, attack style, inventory and magic) and replacement of arrow keys so my hands don't travel as far.

I'll macro some messages to the remaining 4 keys.

I'll ask at the next clan leader meeting.

I'll ask at the next clan leader meeting.

I think I know the answer you'll get.....

2. What type of third-party software is NOT allowed?

This includes, but is not limited to the following third-party software:

  1. Software that attempts to communicate directly with our game worlds.
  2. Software that monitors, modifies or decrypts the communications between our game applets and our game worlds.
  3. Software that generates input to our game applets. This includes software that automatically ... generates ... key presses.

Meh who cares anyway, it's not like the WG rule "Obey The Runescape Rules" has ever really been enforced....

By His_Lordship on 12/01/2011
I'm still going to ask them JC.
Jagex has a different set of rules for the clan world.

Account sharing is not allowed.
Advertising clan sites is not allowed.
Excessive spam is not allowed.

Jagex accommodates for all these rule-breakings, so what's one more?

I know its against the rules, but so is account sharing.

Account sharing hasnt really been enforced much, especially in the clan world.

I don't see why Jagex would want to enforce the use of auto typers in the clan world, we use it during fights, not for a personal gain like macroing.

By Elyxiatic on 14/01/2011
I don't approve of auto typing.

By rachellove9 on 14/01/2011
To me it seems bad to try to get an advantage like typing spam to the other clan while they are struggling to type. I look at it like you aren't arranging it in the war stuff.

these bounds, these weapons and yeah we all auto type . . . seems bad

By Vulcan Sin on 14/01/2011
But most clans auto type anyway rachel, so surely we are at the disadvantage?

By His_Lordship on 14/01/2011
Mickey... most clans spy.
Most clans encourage excessive account sharing.
Most clans crash planned fights.
Many clans DDoS.
Most clans get involved in flame wars.

"Most clans do it" is not any incentive for us to do it.

Most clans also manage to spam in their wars hashdown.gif.png

I support our honor codes but have you ever thought that this high horse we're on is what's keeping us down? hashdown.gif.png

Edit: You're wrong. You use the term "most clans" because all you hear about are top clans like RoT & EoS nowadays. Newsflash, that's only a small fraction of the entire clan world. There are numerous mid & small sized clans that are successful without doing the things on your list (and support autotypers). Autotypers do not make you nh scum, we're in 2011 folks. It's adapt and survive, for if we do not other clans will, making us at a permanent disadvantage.

By Buzzard1985 on 18/01/2011
I wouldn't suggest using it, many people get muted for using these. It's very disruptive.. But who am I right? Go ahead tongue.gif
