Display Names

By Nick on 22/01/2011
When it comes in with connecting the forums to in-game names, I was thinking we should get a better method. Now it can get very confusing on who is who. Forum names are different from IRC names, and both of those are different from in-game names. So in a way, it makes each person have 3 names.

I do not play often, so it is hard for me to keep up with all of the name changes and such.

Is there any way we could create more boxes under the avatar to display the poster's original nickname and their current nickname?

I fully support this idea.
Perhaps a box, like the IRC nickname that someone can fill in themsevles in their profile?
As Nick said it really is difficult, but not only for retired members, but also for currrent members and staff, when they come to update the attendance
The staff are often asking in IRC who is X and who is Y, this would clear this all up.

You can already add your display name to your profile for the stat lookup, so it won't be hard for Robbie to add the data to your post profile.

Yeah even I do have some trouble with people who change names often.

EPIC BUMP!

I think this time I actually got to reading it. I missed it the first time probably cause of the anniversary stuff all going on.

I'm going to talk to Robbie now and see if he can do something. Better a little late then never. wub.gif wub.gif

Yea; I'll add the RSN below the avatar. I really should have added it earlier; not sure why it's not there.
