Trolling

By Garrett on 12/02/2011
Ok, We need to lay down the law and tell members what trolling really is.
Post Below on what you think trolling is.

Trolling to me is un needed comments that can lead to drama.

Trolling is posting or saying something to someone with the deliberate intent to cause drama or upset said person.
There is a very fine line between trolling and a joke... and although there is no easy way to define this line... it all depends on who the person you are joking around with is, and how close a friend they are, and how you believe they will take the joke.

If in doubt about saying something, just don't say it...

I think basically, comments that you say that you're only saying to elicit a negative reaction without trying to get a point across.

What I said on the IA was mistaken to be trolling. I personally think it's not, but I think it was just bluntness. If I was trying to troll, I would've said something like:

"110 combat is simple to do in 8 weeks, but I'm sure certain members will have difficulty doing it, right Alain?"

THAT would be trolling.

Too me trolling is something that you post that some people get upset/annoyed by it. Others dont.

People percieve (sp?) it in very diffent ways tbh as darth said the poster doesnt always think it as trolling. Its the readers reaction that defines it as trolling.

I got told that it was just lieing about something and then consistently going on about it.

Baiting someone into a false sense of negativity whom can't pick up on sarcasm as fast as said person baiting.

Along these lines...

Trolling isn't always negative to me, and it's too difficult to give examples.

I feel some of the examples given above are edging on flaming, and not trolling..

Their*

HAVE I PUSHED YOU TO YOUR LIMIT YET!?!

Anyways, it's basically unnecessary remarks in a wise-guy manner that cause harm to an individual.

By rachellove9 on 14/02/2011
Katt has the general idea of it.

But I'd add that it is not something that will enrich or make anyone or anything better. Sometimes used by the person to belittle others to make themselves feel better. Usually will not result in a positive reaction by the person that it is directed at.
