I've been trying to think of ways to get the forums a bit more active. I'm not sure exactly how but something to get them on everyday to read other than events. If they enjoy the forums then they will get way more active.
Our trials get lost on our forums cause they just need to feel at home and post on things. Once they get past the scared to post they are much better.
Any ideas please post below.
1. I'm thinking of asking Randy to do the WG interview thing again. It was a little question answer on a different member of the clan each week. It was an interesting read. I always made sure to read it and people would laugh and giggle at some of the things we found out about people.
2. Try to do more polls in general. For some reason the fact that they can't see the poll til they answer gets them to at least vote. If we could make a few interesting posts with polls that might help too.
3. Once there was a Zombie thread that asked them to post a short story of what they would do during a real life Zombie attack. I remember that be a very interesting thread as well. It had a lot of posts on it. So something that is like a "what if?" It might get some posts from people that normally don't post.
4. Maybe track top posters for the day over a week and put a little nice thread in compliments to the ones that posted a lot and build it up. Like let them know it's important and don't include any staff in this contest. Not sure what would be a good way to run this but it is an idea.
5. We should be having elites do more for the clan. They are not involved as much as they could be. Start using that forum to ask for help and little things more often. If we don't keep them busy and helpful they have the option to go emeritus. Sometimes it might just be they don't feel as needed as they once were.

Pretty sure RSC does top posters for the day, because one time Tmal showed like 7 WG being in top 10.
It'll be good to see who is active on the forums.

If no one has any ideas, do you think level 2 would be a good place to move this?

Oh this wasn't in Level 2, I see.
If you look on The Sabres forums (i do nearly every day) they have their own Shout Box sorta feature that shows 'status updates' just to make it more like facebook. To some people that could make them feel more comfortable, I hate facebook myself

Also think the Brown Background you get could be changed. I'll post some more as i think of it.

they have a facebook like status update on the silent ember forums as well. useful

I think somehow we need to get the events out more. I view new posts every day and read through every topic, but most don't. I just think we need a easier way to get this information across. Also, we need to keep it regularly updated.
Maybe someone always updating the news scrollbar every day or every other?

The problem with that is that it's only accessible via Admin CP, so only the Council, Gene and Robbie have access.
I asked a long time ago if this could be made accessible for Event Leaders as well, to take the strain off the council and make sure events were updated there every time they are created, but Gene was very against this, possibly for good reasons....
But, if you trust the person enough to have them in the staff (remember, tertiaries are chosen by the Council, not by the members), then why don't you trust them enough with the ACP...

It is an easy thing to mess up. Council is in for longer times like usually 6 months or more. Gene and Robbie are founders and always been here.
Some things need to be council for a reason. So easy to mess up the entire site if you delete something you shouldn't and it isn't always backed up like it should be either. I would not want to force that kind of responsibility on our already hard working staff. They do a great job and help us as much as they can already.
I'm sure that in the near future we will be ready to add to the council for more help too.

Yeah yeah I know that it is easy to mess up, unless you have a firm grounding in HTML, but still, it needs to be updated every day :/
And tbh that's all the more reason that it's important to keep the record of all changes and the backup file in Level Four, when I was Council it became part of my routine - as soon as I had updated the CP, i'd go to level four and post the backup copy, it's perhaps more important than a Council member checking their PMs or w/e else....

Okay, well I am still working on this. I don't want you to think it has been dropped. Atm it seems TBK stuff has been improving forum activity too.
New council coming soon too.
Any other ideas come to you just bump this.
