RIFT

Well brother bought rift today.
So far must say its looking good. Personally has none of the charm runescape has for me so i will not be activly playing it.

The system so far appears just like wow. Kill so many enemies. Return so many things. Collect this many souls.. etc etc

The only thing thats really good about it is the rift feature itself. Randomly rift open up in the map and you have to work with the server to close them. If you dont close them they expand. Eventually taking up the map. So far we havnt seen a big one but could be a nusience to new players.

Just wondering if any of you have seen/played/heard about it?

I played the beta for a few days, just before it closed. Their rogues are a lot like WoW, almost ridiculously so. They've done some great stuff with the class though, I'd give a lot to have that kind of versatility in WoW. I also really liked the concept of rifts, it let me try things out in a group setting without actually being in an instance. Great way to experiment with different things without being under pressure.

Didn't get a chance to run any instances, but they looked decent from what I saw on Youtube. I won't be leaving WoW, but it's a nice looking game from what I could tell. And, honestly, just the characters -looked- so much better. I actually felt like I was playing a lithe, cloaked assassin in Rift; the armor sets in WoW are cool, but they don't look particularly "sneaky".

Interested to see if it's more successful than Warhammer/Aion/<Name that WoW Killer>.

you mean the lore from the orignal warcraft games that wow fucked up??

The only good thing about warhammer online was the pvp system. Was pro tbh. Just hard if you were not the right character.

Well so far the rifts are looking good brothers playing as a tank as usual so ill end up playing as a Cleric proberly +)

Ill try film some stuff and do some commentary on it see how it goes.

Oh yeah, if any of you recognize Jack from Millennium Guild, who does all those great WoW movies, it looks like he and a good portion of the guild he's in is playing Rift on the side. The movie he has on his Facebook page was pretty bad compared to his WoW stuff, it looks like something he just threw together for fun. But we might be able to expect some really nice Rift movies from him in the future if he keeps playing.

I've played this game, got upto level 50 before I finally cancelled my subscription. The game is basically WoW, with bits of other MMO's mixed into it. PVP balance is terrible, warriors dominate everyone and mages get slaughtered no matter if they jump someone at half HP

Long story short... buy it if you like PvE, do not buy it and wait for Guild Wars 2/TERA if you want a nice PVP MMO

I still play this game casually, me and a bunch of mates quit wow(basicly our whole guild to play this hardcore) I was the leader of our guild we all hit 50 raided, its is defiantly an awesome game, I played a mage and still dominated everyone so dont know what you mean about mages being bad :S but the one thing this game still needs to keep it going.

1. Merg the servers with low pop players
2. Implement arena and rated battlegrounds even if they're unbalanced they would still be alot of fun
3. Add cross server dungeon ques similar to wow, Just to counter population problems atm.
4. 10man raids, dont know why the hell they didnt make it possible before but its needed.

Those 4 things added to the game would make it succeed hugely atm its dying because of the population split so far across the servers.

It is truely an amazing game, everything runs smoothly it has a good physix engine and actually involves your character in quest lines. Endgame is actually difficult compared to wow. It gets thumbs up from me.

(I compare to WoW as ive played wow as hardcore pvper and raider for a good 5 years since prebc and know what wow needs to pick up its game as well.)
