Some PvP stuff

By Randy on 13/03/2011
First let me say it is great to be back and I look forward to working with you all smile.gif
Over the past few months I've been taking some mental notes on what I personally believe may help WG in various ways.
Just because I'm posting this does not in any way mean it's definite - I'm just looking for discussion.

Public Recaps
If any of you have ever browsed some top clans' forums you may have realized that most of their PvP events have public recaps. And when I say most I mean the events they would be happy to show off to the public (won wars, successful PK trip, etc.). You see, winning wars is great. It raises the clan's morale and gets us pumped for more PvP. But wars aren't just about winning, they're about showing everyone else you've won. It shows the public that our clan is doing well and we're active. If someone were to check our forums to see how we're doing, it may convince them to apply. Not to mention that WG has a reputation for being more community based (which isn't all that true).

If this were to happen, we would have:
-A private recap forum which would contain EVERY event. This is where we would discuss clan-only related things like feedback, criticism, and attendance. This would also be the only place we post wars that we lost to avoid embarrassment to the public.
-A public recap forum which would contain ONLY events we won and were successful. Members will post their loot pics and positive feedback. If we still did something wrong and/or had attendance issues etc., they would go in the private recap.

Community Posting (Zybez, Tip.it)
Along with our own public recap would be the one posted on community forums. Folks, this is THE place we need to get recruits from. After making a public recap all you would have to do is literally copy and paste (and be sure to leave out any private details). Raid leaders need to start taking starting and ending ops of EVERY fight. This is crucial for posting without getting the topic locked.

Here are some example I have posted:
http://forums.zybez.net/topic/1451496-wildguards-night-out/
&
http://forums.zybez.net/topic/1441620-wild...-p2p-night-out/

If you are uncertain about what to post or how to post please feel free to ask. Lets get in the habit of doing this because WG needs the publicity.

Change in Applications
I feel as if our application and trial stage is not PvP oriented enough. It's pretty much Hi my name's Randy and I like Runescape. We need to start asking some serious questions like "Do you have any past PvP clan experience?" and "Do you understand how financially demanding a PvP clan is?" I'm tired of trials applying, dying on raids, and going inactive because they realize PvP clans are no joke. WG has a VERY friendly appearance on the outside and I think people are getting the wrong impressions about what we do. If anyone has anything they'd like to see asked please post.

Death to CWA, birth to scouting/tracking
The CWA is great for practice but not for advancement. We will never grow as a clan if we stick to safe fights. A lot of you are under the impression that the wildy is dead and getting fights is impossible. It's harder than it used to be but not impossible.

Scouting: The placing of scouts in deep wilderness and checking worlds for clans. I'm sure most of you don't have secondary P2P accounts but if you do please post. This is mostly for F2P raids. If a few of you could put a scout or two at GDZ that would be great.

Tracking: Getting tracks on clans that are PKing by using a few methods such as adding them to your RS friendslist and idling in their IRC. I have recently made a topic that has a few good P2P targets. Over the next few days I'm going to make another post listing CC's and IRC's to check. Hopefully we'll find us some action.

On a personal note, there are some things I'd like to say about myself.
I have already talked to Rachel about this before I apped but I'd like to just say it for the staff: Due to various things in real life I may not be able to lead PvP events even though I am online. This is because my room is the size of a closet and has noise restrictions during certain hours, as well as a roommate who needs to study in peace. I well NEVER make a war that there will not be enough leaders on for. Just a heads up.

Thank you for reading and please add what you want smile.gif

Very nice topic, I really like your ideas about the public recap for successful raids / wars. Similarly I like the idea of scouts and tracking, if I get a right click on someone I usually try add them but most of the time they're offline so I just delete them again.

Similarly I have a lvl 50 pure, and my brother has a lvl 90+ member account he doesn't use. I said earlier I might be able to sign up my bro's acc to another clan if its 90+ (might even be 100+) could easily get tracks then and i'd be able to use the pure to scout too

That's called spying lol tongue.gif
From what I'm aware of, spying is still banned in WG.
You'll have to ask Lordy about that.

By Danb1992 on 13/03/2011
Well the spying thing was only meant about TBK tbh, but yeah its up to you guys, the options there should we need it

By rachellove9 on 13/03/2011
I need to think more about some of this but the applications I can totally agree on. We need to have a more serious application. I think the introduction to the clan can open up the idea that we are a pvp clan. Then add more detailed questions in the application.

We don't want to scare off all the people who have not been in clans before but we do want them to realize the seriousness to being in WG.

By Armybuilder1 on 14/03/2011
It is serious buisness though. Ye its a game. But i dont fight under the wg banner just for a laugh.
The application people i definatly i agree on this. We need to make sure that people are able to fight. And know what they are doing. As much as i like some of the new guys. Their has only been one or two that has actually gotten the serious of wg;s pvp. We need to make sure we are getting members who are comforatble with pvp not in wg to learn the ropes as so many seem to be. WG should not be a persons first clan.

Already spoke to you about the recap thing
Personally i think for private recaps this would be a good idea. But this is just something ive stolen and recently came across and though wow brilliant idea

But giving it to normal members to fill out not just raid leaders everytime (Sorry about pinching your thread <3)

As for the RSC thing. I dotn go near it. Im on it just to occasionaly post when needed by wg. But i dont mind holding up the tipit front and posting wars , raids etc

Good idea, been wanting to post whenever possible on RSC/Tip.It, but we havnt been winning wars and pk trips have been less than productive, with minimal clan activity.

I'm up for getting scouts, but idling in other channels on IRC would probably be more productive.

Also, on the note of warring.

GLADZ are making a tournament, most likely a 8 team tournament involving clans around our size. They asked me yesterday if WG would be interested and I said yes.

Rules would be full out, non-returning (Old School Rules pretty much)

Should be great, our numbers can help us here.

As for CWA, I have been trying to get us away from there as much as possible, but as you can see from the Envy war, people arn't ready for returning wars for some reason. But small caps of like 1hr will be good.

And applications you are right about. We only get about 1 in 10 members that commit to the PvP section at an ideal level.

By Randy on 15/03/2011
Ok so definitely will happen:
-Idling in clan's IRCs (I will make a list)
-Change some application questions
-More PvP wars, less CWA

Need more input on the recaps thing.
Especially from Lordy, Jayson, and the raid leaders.

By rachellove9 on 15/03/2011
I don't like the part of we did poorly in that code section if it is going to be made public. My thinking is we would have people like Joe coming on and reading it daily to know all our weaknesses and use that or post it to help their own clans.

By Kevin on 15/03/2011
I'm all for every idea you have, except for death to CWA. There's nothing wrong with a CWA fight every couple weeks, but it shouldn't be our primary source of organized fights any longer. Perhaps 75% PvP and 25% CWA would be a good mixture. CWA still has its benefits.

By Armybuilder1 on 15/03/2011
that would be for private recaps not public. Public would have something different.
People need to work out themselves what we do wrong. Not just us tell them.

Im deffinatly up for more pvp events. id be fine with completly getting rid of CWA fights. But i know we'd have some complaints so how thats done needs to be carefull

By rachellove9 on 15/03/2011
CWA is also are F2P and some enjoy that more than P2P too. I like the one in every 4 war idea to keep things a bit mixed up.

By Jayson on 15/03/2011
I would think most weekday wars would be CWA in the end since most people wont war on weekday in wild. But im up for it, not pkris.

On the matter of weekday wars, until daylight savings enda in melbourne (end of the month) i cant attend monday or tuesday wars.

Back onto recaps. I said before, ill be completly up for it, so our private recap can be more focused on what needs to be worked on and what was good

By Randy on 15/03/2011
We'll continue to have CWA fights. Just not as often.
PvP and CWA tanking & returning are much different and I'd like to see people start learning PvP.
