Racism...

By Jayson on 10/04/2011
will not be tolerated.

Some people have been deciding to use the 'n' word more often and without a care.

Racism is still against the rules that all of you agreed to follow when you joined and it will be punished accordingly.

Zooby already got 20% today for it, don't be next.

This is a tough one, some people say it like there's nowt wrong with it, but there's some peeps out there who get offended by it. You gotta remember in like clan chat or whatever, there's always gonna be someone who doesn't like it. Same with chink.

There's no point making a big issue out of it. Who gets a warning for what isn't for us to care about, only council sees warning levels for a reason.

By WizardOfGod on 11/04/2011
if i say ***** around all my black friends i think i can say it here.

By Jayson on 11/04/2011
You two will be dealt with shortly. For now, I will close this topic.

By Jayson on 11/04/2011
This topic has been reopened.

Just a heads up with anyone else wanted to post criticism.

Keep it constructive and don't be stupid about the way you send it across.

By Mark on 11/04/2011
I don't want the clan to be torn apart on this. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the 'Racism' towards Gene in a different topic that recently popped up. And I'm sure its happened more times than that. If he accepts it, fine. But I'm sure others don't appreciate the fact that hes being laughed at about his ethnicity.

This is true.

I personally don't like saying or really hearing any form of racist terms. Although I deal with it and /ultimately/ I don't care, I think that people should have enough respect and self-control to be able to just not those words. It's really not difficult to say "bro" or "man" or "black guy", etc. instead of the words aforementioned.
My two cents.

By James on 11/04/2011
its all words, seriously if people take it offensively ask and tell them to stop im sure they will understand, words are words like fuck, shit its only racist if YOU want it to be racist

By Vulcan Sin on 11/04/2011
Man is a great word to say....i'm known in my year for overusing it in everything I say. But it's just natural for me to say it now, man.

I agree with you but like I mentioned earlier in this topic, people are different.. Some will feel like you and I but others will be offended and we have to respect that we're not all alike.

It's like.. We tend to tease people who are short-fused because we don't understand why small things can trigger an explosion of temper with these people. That often leads to servere bullying and that's what we need to prevent. Some will feel left outside by being called the "n" word while others will be much more cool with it.

That's where the problem is.. I'm not talking about racial differences but the feelings of every single individual. WG has alot of different people applying and we don't know who they are so it's crucial that we show respect to whoever applies.

Lol i feel like ive seen this topic on forums 4 times now with WG.

Simple as this:

When talking to personal friends in the clan usually you can say whatever.
When talking in public lobby mind what you say.

im kinda late to post on this but thank you. finally someones saying something about it<3

By Wayshow on 13/04/2011
Racism was one of the the main reasons I quit my last clan..... That won't happen here

By Kung Man149 on 13/04/2011
The way I see it is, people should have freedom of speech over ANYTHING.
If you feel offended by it, speak up and tell the person to stop.
If said person does not stop, tell staff about it so action can be taken.

By Fbi3255 on 13/04/2011
I think that racism can be appropriate in some situations and be funny while i totally do not tolerate discrimination against others for being different.

I agree with this post

By James on 13/04/2011
Randy hes totally right there, it can be used in many contexts some discriminative some funny and taken light heartedly

By Bgpgraebner on 14/04/2011
A word can mean many things to diff. persons, so if a word MAY offend someone who you don't know(common in our lobby), DON'T USE IT. simple as that smile.gif

By Garrett on 15/04/2011
I dont care how you use racism, its not okay, and its is unneeded.

By Espen___11 on 15/04/2011
Agree.

By Slayz0rr on 25/04/2011
Here's what I think,

You should simply think about what you say before you say it, I know a lot of people in this clan just say things without thinking of the repercussions which will come to them, and after they regret it.

So just think!

I think in my meaning that racisme is only racimse when it is ment to hurt.
And yes we are al smart enough to know when its to hurt..

By Maxrobinsun on 26/04/2011
I think that being over sensitive isn't necessarily a good idea.

Obviously, if someone is making racist comments towards someone with malicious intend then that is clearly not okay.

However, a light hearted joke in the right context is often harmless and not meant to cause offence.

Sure, it might be okay with us, but what happens when it is said in the public lobby, or around new members?

If anyone were to take offense it would be very bad for everyone.

I am perfectly sure you can use a different name or nickname instead of using racist remarks.

I'm not advocating the use of racist remarks however, i'm just saying that some jokes, with slightly racist undertones, shouldn't be taken to seriously.

For instance:

"You ****ing n*****" Not Okay

But

"How many Australians does it take to change a lightbulb?"

Is probably fine.

By Blackxp on 26/04/2011
I completely agree with many of the previous posts. Hate to just repeat the same thing over and over but.

Is there any particular reason for anyone to ever need to say the word? I think many like to say it just for rebellious factor. If your not allowed to say it, then you want to say it more.

Its obvious that it is a racial slur and it can be offensive to some people. Also bothers me when people say its just a word. Just a terrible argument in my eyes.

Just my opinions though biggrin.gif Everyone is welcome to criticize!

Yea, I'm sure that would be fine, but depends the audience it is with, and the context it is in.
