Advice?

By Mickey on 05/05/2008
Well, I was given a computer (a kind of old one), I've set it up with some programs. It's actualy quite fast etc. But I tryed to install wireless internet and I went to plug the WLAN cable in when I realised that there was no lan port. Well, there is a WLAN slot, but it's empty. I was wondering if someone could tell me where I can buy a WLAN slot to add into the slotso I can use my new computer on the internet.

Thanks.

Try getting a Wireless network adapter(it goes in the USB drive).

If you know the model of the PC you can do a small search just to find some compatible components. Chances are the ones at your local store would be fine, but it would be good to make sure.

You could probably download a user's manual if you don't have one just for some extra information and for the specs of the machine.

From there you'll know what will and will not work with your mobo and such, so that narrows your search.

From that point, its just looking at those that meet the requirements for your machine, and possibly 'special' features, and price.

I'm guessing this is a desktop? If that is the case, I had some horrible luck using wireless with a desktop for whatever reason.

Well, I'm going to try and connect a normal 56k modem into my phone line. Use the 56k modem for now and see how it goes.
