Okay so basically i know how to go.

Resolve across then up.
Up
F-Pcos(50)
F=Pcos(50)

Across
R+Psin(50)-15g

Using what we know
F=Coeficiant of friction x R

so
F=0.2R

Now after that i have to eliminate R
However after doing it
I cant find the correct value for P which is 37

I thought it would be the
maximum static friction = 0.2*15*g=Psin 50
but that's 38 :s

army, do u want me to figure this one out tongue.gif iv been revising mechanics all day biggrin.gif

Im there

Pcos50 = 0.2(15g – Psin50)
5Pcos50 = 15g – Psin50
5Pcos50 – Psin50 = 15g
5P – Ptan50 = 15g/Cos50
P(5 – tan50) = 15g/Cos50
P = 36.93
P=37 (2 s.f.)

Its all about M2 not M1 tongue.gif

we dont do m2 in my spec, we do s1 instead
