Personal Channels
By Garrett on 26/05/2011
Personal Channels shouldnt be allowed, all it does is separate the clan. I remember when everyone in wg was friends, THAT WAS WHEN THERE WERE NO PERSONAL CHANNELS. An Example of this is when Ignomoly, Kat, and I were all in wg lobby just talking and having a good time, having miniature events together, becoming really close. Anyone is capable with having miniature events with me/anyone else, im ok with doing anything once summer starts and I can play again. War Channels and Staff room are alright. But when everyone has a channel, it just makes it hard to communicate, Temporary Channels are ok, but no Permanent.
A good reason to do this is for the trials. Trials leave often because they are left out and never get to know anyone. Teamspeak is the natural place to get friends and be apart of the clan.
Another Reason is because Im a very Talkative person, and Seeing that theres 6people on and active in all different channels, means I cant talk to all of them at the same time. Sure people in this clan I dont like i.e Kat(when in rage mode) but im still fine with talking through our differences. If you are nonnegotiable I can just mute you so I dont have to pay attention to you.

I agree.
We already have very few people that are actually active on Teamspeak during their free time, and when I get on and see everybody separated into four different personal channels, and only sticking to their group of friends it's a bit disappointing. We are supposed to be a clan known for its great community, and that means getting to know everybody in the clan, not just the people you like the most.

I agree. Just get rid of them.

I completely understand your argument but there are a few things that bother me.
On several occasions I joined a channel specifically for what I was doing (bossing, other games, etc.) to avoid distractions and other things.
Most people can't seem to respect that and still come in and start other conversations and stuff.
If you remove personal channels then you need to enforce respect.

permanent channels no, temporary are fine, i can create one that is deleted when someone leaves it.

Polo had a real attitude about "his" channel. He thought he owned it. This type of thing I have a real problem with. I even told him he was about to ruin the idea of personal channels.
I can agree to getting rid of personal channels for now. I'm not against them as long as people are not rude. Maybe instead of having so many personal channels we can add a few with purposes. I find the lobby annoying to chat in often because of so many in and outs to it.
I think council can discuss a change of some type. Randy really has a valid point to this as well.

i definitely agree with this. when i first joined i made alot of friends just bcuz of no personal channels. only sucks bcuz i love my hello kitty decorated channel.

its so cute. but yeah im all for getting rid of em. but dont forget kids can just switch to the war room or whatever and still seperate themselfs.

I think the problem is that people are going to do something which requires a personal channel (eg.. boss hunting, pking etc) then STAYING in the personal channel even after the event is over.
If people just get into the habit of returning to the lobby afterwards, I don't think this would be as much of a problem.

those channels im fine with, but personal channels like Kat's LitterBox is what makes it separation, Also the fact that certain people can have channel admin is insulting, especially when everyone in the channel has it except one person.
