A Rant against the Establishment

I never post rants.
I always refrain from posting my anger, as in WG, there is often little to no point complaining.

However.

About half an hour ago something happened that really angered me and should anger every other member who cares about morals and what is right.

This is not an attack on the Council, well... perhaps it is, but it has a constructive purpose and therefore is not meant for drama, but to make a point.



Mark + Kevin put the WG Skilling + Combat competitions on hold for 3-4 weeks due to poor participation in recent weeks.
In a way I support this decision.

Vephy did something very brave and decided to keep the competitions running, and posted topics for a Defence Combat Competition and a Mining Skill Competition.
However, his topics were deleted and WG was told that whatever competition Vephy was running was in no way related to WG = no attendance etc.

I want to know the reason why these topics were deleted.
I want to know the reason why whoever deleted this topics effectively punched one of our most active and dedicated members in the face.

There was absolutely no harm in what Vephyrus did in continuing these competitions.
Ok, maybe the participation will be poor, but why can't he try?

He clearly cares very much for WG and wants this vital part of WG tradition to continue.

I understand that it takes time to host the competitions, this is why the staff shouldn't be the ones to organise it all.
If ordinary members take it on themselves to organise everything, it gives the ELs more time to actually do what their job requires (hosting events) = win win.
But, in my eyes, if even two members participate in a Combat competition and raise their combat exp by even 200k, it is a win win situation.


This incident has angered me so much because it's a completely negative act that needn't have happened.

Agree with this. If it's stressful for those who have a lot of work to do, leave it for those who don't.

Hopefully there will be an explanation, but somehow I doubt it.

There seems to be a notion that we're completely dropping activity until June 20th.

Because there's currently no events posted? No wars? No competitions?

Newsflash: this has happened before. There have been times where there are no upcoming events posted, but those times do not last for long. Events can be created and posted in the blink of an eye, and there will be a good amount before June 20th. There was also a period a few months back when the SotW and CSotW were put on hold, to no such objection as I am seeing now.

There is no reason to panic. There is no reason for anyone to think that they need to take clan activity matters into their own hands because there are no upcoming events. That is not to say that you are not allowed to create your own events, as we always encourage that from everyone. The staff is not abandoning the rest of the clan and just simply waiting around until June 20th.

However, taking a competition that is run by another WG member and running it yourself without permission is completely disrespectful and uncalled for. That is why I deleted Vephy's topics, and that is why I posted that they are different than the comps that Mark and I host, to provide clarification.

WG will not lose much if anything in activity just because a small amount of members are not receiving attendance points for their solo skilling efforts.

I'm sure Mark is okay with it and I think you are taking yourself way to seriously. I would never do the things you are doing right now. Over hosting an event without permission, big deal. Well I got his permission anyway, even after the fact you jumped down my throat. Immediately deleting my topics and such.

When it comes to a war not being posted, let me explain.

1. I am currently going through exams.

2. I have to find a clan we have a chance of beating.

3. I have to find said clan, that will fight us at a reasonable date/time.

Competition issue sorted.

Skill competition is up and running, and Vephy will be running it.
The combat competition will start up again after June 20th.

Um.... this has kinda been resolved, so it can be closed unless anyone else has anything to post...
