Gold selling sites

By dog b2 on 15/06/2011
Was just hanging in living rock caverns and people starting going on about gold selling site. Few mins into the convo someone said "Are you sure Jagex aren't behind the gold selling sites, when you see the videos on youtube they have millions of gp when do they get it from?"

so in other words people think that Jagex are selling Gold to rs players to make more money.

Its like farmville or Perfect world international they sell items for there game and some other mmorpgs sell gold for there games.

Tbh i think its aload of bull shit

What do you think....? blink.gif

most gold selling sites are scamholes, so easy to get your account banned, ill admit that i have personally sold some of my gold to freinds and people i know for RL cash since the free trade update came out as ive had money problems, with being redundant and all that. but now im in a stable job again i dont intend to again.

but I dont belive jagex are behind gold selling sites, the most popular gold selling site (pm me if you want its name) is partnered with a huge botting forum, so i doubt jagex would do that. beslides, jagex make so much money out of membership and royalties they dont need anymore.

I know JaGex sometimes, or most of the time, are idiots, but not this. Just no.

Trust me, it's the players selling the money. happy.gif

It's not Jagex. But I've stated that it should be.

Pro's:
- Jagex make more money
- Players get a legit & safe way of getting some extra cash
- Players who get hacked can spend IRL money to rebuild
- Unofficial gold services go out of business (Less fraud, etc)

Con's:
- Economy fucks up

Con's:
- Players who can make their own money are fucked by idiots who spend lots on RSGP
- No incentive to keep accounts secure (derp if I loose it all I'll just buy more)
- The economy would collapse, things in demand would rise massively in price
- No-one would train resource skills so it would be impossible to train anything (Why would someone mine for 200k gp/h when they can buy 10m for $5?)

Thankfully, because GP buying is still against the rules the majority (at least I hope it's the majority) of players will not buy GP, so it's affect isn't too terrible. But look back when RWT wasn't allowed, and while GE merching/manipulation was a problem or the most part the economy was in a much better state than it is now with free trade along with the associated botting and RWT.

Oh and if you look at other games that have actively promoted the ability to buy in game items they have generally failed because a couple of rich people who have nothing better to do with their money dominate, while everyone else has no chance. Considering RS is mostly School Students it's quite likely you'll find that if Jagex sold GP, some rich adults would quickly start dominating the game by buying massive amounts of items.

To be frank, if Jagex themselves started selling Gp, it'd be a good excuse to quit entirely.

Totally agree with this, I've played games and later found out you could buy in-game items, and it just ruins the game, because no matter how hard you work, there's always some dumb prick who spends $10 for a sword you can never get.

Gold4RS and Powerbot

More on topic, I can guarantee that Jagex are not selling Gold, that'd just be outright stupid of them. Gold Selling sites, most of them are fake, of course there are a few legit ones ^. But if your really looking to buy GP you should only do it with someone that you can REALLY trust.

Going on from what JC said about people mass buying Items/Gold, that does already happen. People buy VERY obscene amounts of gold at a low price because they are extremely trusted. Selling it for just a notch higher produces quite a large profit depending on your scale.

RSGP is a big business, be careful. I would not get involved if you dont need to.

Not Jagex for sure.

Idk I hear so many people getting hacked I think some of them just say it in the game to try to get gp given to them. I would think in an hour you could easy get 100k given to you and maybe like 500k if your female pixels.

I don't do the flower game or dice or any of it. To me it doesn't seem worth it. I could never buy GP thinking that some little kid was forced to play RS cutting trees for 16 hours a day for 50 cents. It would just make me to ill to think I made the child suffer so much.

Rachell I hope your not serious?

The GP is farmed by bots, not by little children, you don't have to worry, haha.

And Chinese prisoners: Link

Botting is pretty disgraceful yeah, but to me that seems like an even worse way for people to obtain Virtual Items to sell to random players.

That and it's also fairly prevalent that the items are gained by people hacking/scamming/phishing etc. so again, you're buying someone else's items to help fund some hacker.

RS players farm/bot gold (The average joe, or people who run a mini gold farming business) --> sell to major companies who sell gold in the masses --> sell to RS players who are lazy to farm gold.

Same for most MMOS.

hashdown.gif.png hashdown.gif.png Just seriously messed up. When I think of prisoners I usually think of the hard criminals, but then there are people who go to jail just for getting to drunk in public. Some of these countries it would be crime just to own certain books. Makes me wonder how long they get to sleep a day. Just because they did a crime to treat them like this is still wrong.
