suggestion for wars
By Pminogue on 10/05/2008
i need to point a couple of matters out to everybody, and i am not speaking on my own behalf but several other people's
the last 2 out of 3 f2p wars we had, me gusmighster, and nirvana's as well as several other lower levels, never got to go to.
you know what was funnier about that?
we were all hybrid.
levels seem to matter too much. so much it is getting in the way of the fun aspect.
it doesn't seem to be fun anymore. its starting to seem more like ignorance.
i also cannot wait for another hour prep, because i have to be at work in an hour and a half
if all you care for are levels and winning and not fun, you will find you will get LAME AS HELL ATTENDANCE to the next few wars
so quit trying to come up with the quick fix, and work on a better solution, liek instead of matched opts against a clan with half of our memberslist, and twice our lvls, try something a little better, such as a clan around our cb lvl and our memberslist, or just quit doing matched oopts for a while
By Gunsnblades on 10/05/2008
i been cut the last 2 times also and im ALWAYS HYBRID and im a low lvl with high str (99)
more importantly wheres the fun?
By Flame5107 on 10/05/2008
i agree with this coz every matched opts i have attended i have been cut from every one of them and my cmb is 111 and i always hybrid
By Pminogue on 10/05/2008
i work 10 hrs a day 6 days a week, you think i have time?
sery but im 20 yrs old i have work, and school coming up. and every war i can make it to id liek to at least be able to attend
By Pazenon on 10/05/2008
I've learned a lesson from getting cut out of all the matched opts fights I've ever been to: not to attend one ever again

.
If you ask me for a solution, you should let people who often get cut, because of their low levels, to fight instead of the higher ones. There would be a point in attending them then.
Matched fights shouldn't be taken that seriously, it's just a game :$. Let us have some fun

.
By Pminogue on 10/05/2008
that plus this is a 100+ clan. if u arent going to allow 110- to wars, then why not kick up the reqs?
By Yingyang06 on 10/05/2008
I have always said this.
Runescape is supposed to be fun, not a chore... if you don't want to go then tell them a reason. Your not made to go. Wars can be fun at times but we have them to often which doesn't give people time to train. I've been cut before but i don't mind. It still wasn't worth it because we lost in the end.

EDIT- I have moved back this topic to Suggestion because you have the right to say what you think, but any flames or flamebait caught will resolve in a punishment.

I sort of agree, but I think a lot of it should depend on who the enemy is. If it's a clan that out-levels us, we should consider send in all our high levels for the win. On the other hand, when it comes to fights where it's a clan around our levels we should mix things up.
I understand what he's talking about though, because I'm only 106 F2P, I'm always cut in matched opts wars. I'm also always a hybrid.
The main thing that needs to be taken into consideration, on the side of the administration, is that these matched opts wars do not represent WG. They represent the part of us that is above 115, but us as a whole. We might prove to some clan that our high levels can tank, and bind and pile, but the ones that are cut never get to shine. Nobody really knows whether we're all that great, or if it's just the ones that have a high combat. I'm not flaming, or insulting anyone, but this is something that should be looked at.
We should set up some full-outs with these clans and see how we do, and only then will we know if we're as good as we are when our high levels are doing the fighting.
I've got no major problem with getting cut, because if it means we win, then great. I would however like to fight once in a while. It's almost like an insult when these after-war events are set up during the main fight, because to make those who were cut happy.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it can come across that way.
By Yingyang06 on 10/05/2008
I have one good example of a Level 110- and her name is Winddancir. She can tank yet she's a low level... so why not let the others shine? Not everyone is crap at Runescape.
By pur3laugh on 10/05/2008
You do have a point there. But there are times when we really do need people and no one shows up too. but yeah idk. I'm a high lvl nub =\
By Randy on 10/05/2008
I joined WG at 100 combat, and i've been cut from a fair share of wars. I took a few hours out of my day to stand at bandits, and hey, now I get to fight. When you think about it, it makes sense that hybriding 126 would be a better pick than a 100 hybrid.
Saying that we don't fight as a clan to kick people out for matched ops is silly, because every clan in runescape does it. The quote "Only the strongest will survive" comes into place.
Really, as if the council and stuff don't have enough to worry about, complaining that you're too lazy to train is silly.
By Troll84 on 10/05/2008
I have to agree with you to a certain extent. It is overall fairly unfair that you get cut out from these wars over and over. However, you must think of it from the other perspecive. This clan, although intended to be fun, values it's reputation. Although the reputation is greatly boosted by the great community situated here, with all the fun there is, another form of good reputation often comes from war capabilities. If a posative warring ethic & skill is achieved, then the clan will move onwards and upwards.
I'd agree that you all deserve a turn, as not doing so would be unfair, however i don't believe that this should be achieved in regular matched opts (unless obv. opposite team has more than us

). I'd suggest declaring wars that are 115- only against other clans, or something along those lines, to ensure that all people get a go.
Another possible solution is having one or two lower-leveled members who have not been given a chance to war recently in the matched war with priority over higher levels. This could help make things slightly fairer.
I can understand your frustration, we have all been there (some to come, some during

). What i did (if this helps) is trained my combat hardcore for a month so i would guarentee my place in all wars

Now this is going to come from all honesty and I am just telling you what my prospective is on all of this.
First, a war is a war and levels are levels and it all matters no matter what. If you are a higher level the chance of you doing a better then a lower level is much higher. Most likely the higher person has higher defense, strength, and attack. (There are exceptions in certain melee skills of course.) In a war the level 120 is always going to have better stats then a level 105. Chances are if the 120 has been around they will know how to tank and will tank it good.
Secondly, You should always show up to these because what if we are the ones that are out manned and the other clan is dropping people. We need as many people there as we can get so we can use you.
Third, that level 120 or whatever higher level then you has put in the time to get that level. He deserves for his hard worked time to be given that spot to fight. Its easy enough these days to put in an hour or two a day at bandits or dagannoths and get into the 115+ with ease. So go out and train.
My two cents. Thank you.

Just wait guys, we have 7 weeks coming up of non stop full outs, be ready.
By David on 11/05/2008
I don't think his complaint is that the low levels are being cut, but that it's only levels that are being taken into consideration.
Like what Randy said, a Level 126 hybrid is much more valuable than a Level 105 hybrid, but what if the 105 is going as a hybrid and the 126 decides not to? Then what? In most cases the Level 126 is taken regardless, and that is his complaint.
I think some people are misunderstanding this as a "I'm low leveled and I always get cut and I don't like it," rather than "Why is it that only levels are taken into consideration when deciding who is kept and who is cut in a matched opts war?"
It's great when everyone is a hybrid and the decision really is about levels, but a lot of the time even if the low levels go as a hybrid, they are cut because they don't have a high enough combat.
MY suggestion to help get rid of some of this tension is when we do outnumber the opponent, rather than calling 120+, 117+, 115+ piles to decide who's cut, call two piles dividing the clan into who is a hybrid and who isn't. Then take people from the non-hybrid side on a case by case basis, determined by demonstrations in practice wars and previous wars.
No question, the 126 is almost always more valuable than a lower level that is a hybrid, but the debate is when it's a a 115 vs. 110 hybrid, or 112 vs. 105 hybrid, then who's taken?
To those saying that the ones complaining should just train to get rid of this problem need to understand that sometimes that isn't something they can do. Like what Pmin said, he's got a job 6 days a week and doesn't have much time for RS, and when he does have time for a fight he's cut, and that's what is frustrating, that when you are able to play, you don't do anything. It's easy for those in school to just do some homework, or go to practice but then come home and play, but when you've got exams and a job and other things that are obviously more important than RS, it's hard to put a "couple of hours" in at the Bandits or the Dagganoths when you literally don't have the time to do that.
By Indivi2you on 11/05/2008
I feel really bad for Ansat. Poor kid got 99 def today. Couldn't even tank in a war. He really should have been in that war today.
Anyways, i can care less. I get cut like 60% of wars. If i don't i get piled near first. Tbh, train combat if you want to war. If you don't then stop complaining. The way i see it is that everyone was once low, and got cut. They worked hard and trained.
I'm not being biased. Just facing the facts.
Also, Rob said it himself. 7 weeks of full outs.

ok heres the deal. I also have gotten cut from 2 wars this week.
Yes you hybrid, but hybriding isnt all that matters. You need to be able to tank. And hit. Just binding isnt enough. A matched opts fight means you have to have a balenced team. If we let you 100's into the fight(i got cut too and am lvl 110) it would ahve been unbalanced. You "hybrids" would have been killed at the beginning of the fight and gotten k0ed unless you have 95+def....and essentially been useless. Higher levels would go through the whole fight, tank, bind, and do damage. All you could do is bind and hit 0's. Its a fact and you just need to train and get to a higher level.
P.S- To raid leaders- Why not schedule some 110- fights every weekend when its up against a team w/ more mems than us. Just a thought.
By Tmal34 on 11/05/2008
Getting cut does happen...sort of inevitable, however it shouldn't be the same people week after week.
I do have to say this though.
If it bothers you so much getting cut...train.
Now I don't know your life schedule or any of that, but I do know that when I get angry about something, I do what it takes to fix it. In this case you know exactly how to avoid this problem in the future.
That being said, I think lower levels that hybrid, show up consistently, and have positive attitudes should be rewarded over medium levels who only log on occasionally and show up late to fights.
By Lee on 11/05/2008
Right, I got cut yesterday? Do i Care? Not at all...Im training right now. I play for maybe 2 days a week for about 3 hours on each of them days. Im seriously busy. Hence why im emeritus for now.
To be honest guys, yesterday we won because of some huge high level tankers. Seriously, if you guys think you can tank aslong as someone who has 15 defence levels on you? Then cool.
By Tnuac on 11/05/2008
This is a familiar rant. It seems unfair that people are discriminated against for levels.
There should be oppertunity for them to get involved.
It sounds that there are full-outs lined up though, so it should solve the problem.
By Kwaichi on 11/05/2008
Lets do something like that for matched opts wars: who is there first will fight

But yes, low combat players should fight in some not so much important matched opts wars, it gives them a lot of experience and fun - thats why everyone want fight.
