Your top films.

By Parth23 Jani on 17/05/2008
Havent seen a topic like this in a while hash.png

So , what are you fave movies? Top 5/10/15 or however many you consider as your top films.
Also , what's the film(s) you dislike the most?

Mine are (In order of preference)
-The Usual Suspects
>The trailer is wank but the movie is amazing. If you see it you'll want to watch it again as soon as it ends. One of the best plot twists EVER.Just dont look into it too much or it will get ruined.
-Se7en
>Another movie with a great plot twist.Awesome film , I can bet money that you'll like it if you watch it. Unless , of course , you dont have a pair of testicles.
-Fight Club
>If you havent seen it , I dont like you. Another film with an awesome story and a plot twist.
-American History X
>A very powerful movie. Watch it if you can.
-Saving Private Ryan
>Most of you probably have seen this.If you havent , you need to rethink your lifestyle hash.png
-Snatch.
>Great British film. The humour is priceless.
-The Big Lebowski
>One of the funniest movies , ever. Old.
-The Shawshank Redemption
>Awesomeness.Another film with a clever plot twist.
-Apocalypse Now
>One of the best war movies , ever. Its like 30 years old but still great. I like the story/acting more than Saving Private Ryan but Saving Private Ryan wins because of the intense and gritty war scenes. And the cool effects.
-The Boondock Saints
>I'd heard so much about this but never really got to watch it untill very recently. Its brilliant.
-The Prestige
>Great film and yet another very cool plot twist.
-Lock , Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
>Very similar to Snatch.Same director same people etc. British humour at its finest thumbsup.gif
-The Green Mile
>The only movie ever that made me cry. No lie.
-The Departed
>Really good film. Plot twist again. I like good twists hash.png
-Memento
>Great film. Need to watch it atleast like twice to get it I reckon. Its starts and the end and ends at the start , you'll get it why if you watch it. Awesome Plot twist. Haha.
-There Will Be Blood
>A very good film. Definitely worth watching. Its pretty long but thats a good thing.
-25th Hour - Best Scene
>If that scene doesnt make you want to watch it , you suck hash.png
-Fargo
>Cool film.Found it really funny at bits. (From the same people who made films like No country for old men , The big Lebowski).
-L.A. Confidential
>Clever film , very realistic.
-Trainspotting
>Great british film about druggies.
-Donnie Darko
>Weird and confusing. Thought provoking.
-Requiem for a Dream
>A very very messed up film about heroin addicts.Messed up because it shows you just how f*cked up you can become if you do drugs. Really good film.
-Cinderella Man
>Great boxing film. Liked it more than Rocky's and Million Dollar Baby.
-Sin City
>Pure awesomeness and all.

All Highly recommended.

I like prison dramas a bit, like The Longest Yard, The Shawshank Redemption
^Both awesome films^

What I hate:
Chick Flicks. End of.

I like spoofs, they're so stupid it's actually funny.

As for my favorite movies, might be the 6 Rocky movies, all of them. Epic hash.png

LOTR Trilogy
Gladiator
King Arthur

By Job is God on 17/05/2008
Fight Club.

By Gibble00 on 17/05/2008
Ooo, this topic reminded me that I need to see Sweeney Todd.

My favorite movie is probably Harold and Maude.

That's the only DVD I own besides the LotR trilogy. Which I like, but not as much as I used too.

I also really enjoy Kevin Smith and Wes Anderson movies. Kevin Smith's movies are a little corny, but he's a hilarious guy, I get his podcast (recommends to all).

Edit: +1 to Parth for The Big Lebowski (classic) and Trainspotting. I need to see Requiem for a Dream.

By Parth23 Jani on 17/05/2008
Yeah Requiem for a dream is a movie everyone should watch.
Its similar to Trainspotting(the drug theme) but its disturbing as f*ck.

By Spicy63 on 17/05/2008
Still my favorite movie:

By Angus0000 on 18/05/2008
In no particular order:

-Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: basically a movie-long drug trip. It really captures the intensity and weirdness of Hunter S. Thompson.

-Brazil: 1984 meets terrorists and dark comedy

-Apocalypse Now: an awesome adaptation of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, and a great glimpse into the insanity of the Vietnam War. Plus the use of "The End" by the Doors and Wagner's "Ride of the Valkeries" in the helicopter attack scene is brilliant.

-The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou: probably my favorite Wes Anderson film, stars Bill Murray, and is an excellent dark comedy.

-Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Western Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly): They might be Westerns, but they never get old for me. The stories are great, and the music, composed by Ennio Morricone, is spectacular.

-The Big Lebowski: Shut the **** up, Donny.

-A Clockwork Orange: Awesome Stanley Kubrick film, disturbing to some, but there's a lot of it that always cracks me up, although it's definitely not a comedy. A lot of sex and violence, and the language used makes it really memorable. Also, synthesized classical music ftw?

-Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb: Another Stanley Kubrick film, it's a great comedy on the Cold War and nuclear armageddon.

-Conan the Barbarian: Definitely not the same quality as the rest, but it's probably the manliest movie ever.

By ArSeNaLfAn32 on 18/05/2008
No. 1: Into The Wild
Greatest, most touching story ever. The main character inspired me a ton.
No. 2: Fight Club
Not comparable to Into The Wild, but an awesome movie with a twisted ending.

By Eregion2 on 18/05/2008

1. Man on Fire.
2. Serial Experiments Lain.
3. The Proposition.

7. Unleashed (Jet Li).

I don't know, I think the redux version adds some really good stuff to the movie. Take, for instance, the extension of Kilgore's napalm speech; it adds another dimension to his character, and although he's nuts, he's looking to the future, to the end of the war.

Edward Norton was awesomeness as usual hash.png
The fight scenes are so good I didn't even blink once during them. That good.
The Last fight sequence alone is worth the 6 quid ticket. The rest of the film is added bonus. Its one of the greatest fight scenes I've ever witnessed.
If you're even slightly interested in good films , good acting , good CGI , good fight scenes or HULK - watch it as soon as you can.
2 superhero films down , 1 to go.
