20+ post requirement

By Mickey on 25/05/2008
Well, when I led a clan, we had a 20+ post requirement before applying. This encouraged activity on our forums and proved very usefull for communicating with future members. I think WG should use the requirement to make sure our members are going to be active on forums.

I think the only thing something like that would do is encourage spamming.

Just remember what we were able to do for the RSC Clan activity competition. We were able to get 50+ posts in a matter of hours/days. Having a 20+ requirement wouldn't show forum activity, but would only clutter up our threads. If there were a way to count up the number of actual posts (not counting posts stating attendance percentages) as in meeting a certain length, stays on topic, and such.

Someone can get 20 posts in the matter of an hour. A couple hours at most. They can do this and meet the requirement then hardly look at forums again.

no its stupid. having the achievement section and intros section spammed again would be bad.....

Yeah I agree with everyone else, Anyone can just post random clutter to get their post count up.

When someone gets that done, they wont look at the forums again.

I think it is a good idea. Yes, they might be tempted to spam the forums, but that is half the point. Based on how they deal with getting 20 posts, it shows us out of our potential members those who are likely to spam and be forum inactive, and those who will likely be valuable contributors to our forums and community.

Almost all the arguments against this completely miss the point. This is a very good way to gauge our incomming members. You may complain about extra spam in the public forums, but the end result is less spam and more activity in our main forums because those members who just spam to get the required post count will be less likely to get into WG.

I find it to be a good idea. I don't know why people would be forced to spam to get 20 posts. They can't apply for 3 days after you intro anyway(unless reffed) and 20 posts in 3 days can be easily attained without spamming.

20 post is easy to get and very easy to spam it up.
