Suggestion on event recaps/attendance

By Randy on 29/05/2008
It's no secret that the attendance list isn't 100% accurate and that all events are added. Most war's attendance are forgotten about and never added. This is mainly, no offence to any raid leaders/event leaders, laziness and forgetfullness (that a word? hash.png).

So, my suggestion is the following,
Split the event recap forum into 2 sub-forums, Added and Not Added.
It will look like-

Events

Event Recaps
  • Not Added
  • Added

At the end of an event/war, the staff who held it will move it to the not added section. At the end of the week when attendance is added to the list, they will move all the topics from not added to added (after actually adding them to the attendance list, duh).

This will add more orginaztion and accuracy.

Thanks.

It seems like a great idea. Just a few touch-ups. Why wait till the end of the week to move the topic to Added, and add it to the attendance. When the recap is written, we should make it duty to whoever held it to add it or ask a leader to.

Great suggestion *thumbs up*

Because of this,

It will make it a ton easier, all of the weekly events right in one section.

Good idea, we've been lacking proper recaps lately. This should solve it.

I update definately every single event of mine and every single event, war, skiller that I attend.
In my opinion I should not be the only one doing this, as I have mentioned before.
It would be nice for raid leaders to update the war attendances when they post the attendance on the recap immediately after the war end.

I often have to ask Raid Leaders for attendance, it's gotta change....
It's because war attendances are large, takes a long time to update ohmy.gif, i do not mind doing it.
It just seems to be most of the time (not to say that a lot of other staff members don't do it, they do!)

Edit: I didn't see you doing any of that yourself for your events....

Mainly because I had no right to. It wasn't my responsibility, I could have easily messed the whole thing up, especially now when I have no power to edit or anything. Not to make myself sound like an ass or anything haha, I would of.

Now, you could have taken this suggestion in two ways.
Calling the staff lazy, which they aren't, or a new way to stay organized.

I know attendance and things get rough, but it really should be more organized than it is right now.

For example, ya know that 1-2 hour war practice we had yesterday? Where is that? I ran home from school so that I could attend, yet it isn't even added to the attendance list. Not to sound like i'm desperate for attendance, but we should all get credit for what we do. If I were to never bring this up, it probably would have never gotten done. Not to seem like the bad guy here, because iv'e certainly experienced taking attendance for myself, and I know you're not always in the mood to do it right away, which is why i'm suggestion this.

It will be like a reminder I guess. Quite frankly, looking at my attendance, it says I have been to 18 events. Though it may be right, I believe it's wrong, simply because iv'e been to countless miniwars and war practices, as well as the occasional skill event. Which pretty much proves my earlier statement on how mainly the fighting events are slacking.

Yup, so agree with this idea or not, you can't deny the fact that this would help, even in the slightest way.

Yea I agree.

It also need to be more accurate. I took five seconds to count and I had 14 attendence points on the weekly attendence sticky but I only had 11 points on the overall attendence sticky. dry.gif

Yeah I agree, waiting till the end of the week would just clutter the thread, and making more monotonous work at the end of the week, that no-one will want to do.

I'm not saying I don't agree with this suggestion, I do i think it is good.
However i'm just saying you should give more credit to staff.
The staff do so much for WG behind the scenes, and you are acting as though they are lazy and do nothing.. it just angers me a little...

The war practice thing was not my event ohmy.gif

Half Off topic but...

I think Event attendance is trivial.
Members should be motivated to go to events to help WG, not to increase a number.
WG shouldn't need a list to know who is active and participating.

The list doesn't promote anything other than increased complicated systems.
