Strategies for RE war

By Back to Own on 10/06/2008
Ok the way I see it:

We have very good odds of beating RE in the full out with just overwhelming numbers. However, matched opts will be much more difficult

Whoever piles a tank in the begining with infinite run will probably lose. It'll be very hard to bounce back unless we do an amazing job and they just start sucking. For the full out, infi run isnt as important, but if we pile a person with inifinite run in the begining of the matched opts, we probably will get screwed.

My first idea is to try to force them to pile our own tanks with infinite run. We have a small advantage since we attack, so we can do w/e we want while they just sit there.

First off, we can do that strategy corr used on us in the begining of the allied war.

They had two fallins, one main group and a small group of Corr dded about 5 steps away on the opposite side of the wall. We naturally pick a pile from the small group. As the main force rushes in, we attack our target in the dd'ed pile, who expect it and start running, getting a head start.

So basicly, we could try something similar. Have our best tanks (+ infinite run) be the dd and the other members be in the main force. It wouldnt be bad for our best tanks to have dhide body + chaps (for epic drag) so when they're selected, they're all messed up

To protect our main force from being targeted, we have to quickly step inside vision, pick a target, and step out before they can pick one of us.

Also, we could also try something different with team capes. Have our tanks and people with infinite run wear unique capes to make them stand out (like leaders). The problem with that is that leaders also stand out. Another idea is to intentionally have "fake hybrids"(waste of 3 inven spaces). These guys should be able to tank, have infinite run, and stick nearby the enemy pile with hybrid robes on so the enemy piles them. They also should not get koed neko2.gif

One of the cons of this strategy is that these people will most likely guranteed to die if the plan turns out successfully.

We can also be cheap and purposely take forever to match opts so their infi run is ruin hash.png

If you have any suggestions or more idaes, post em here

I'm too tired to understand a lot of what you said, so i'll check it our further tommorow

The best solution is get everyone in WG to get infinite run, unless they're F2P. I'm strongly against inf run, but I'm getting it.

as long as we win the full out, we will still be in hash.png1 I believe since LPT lost to re in matched.

The fullout war should be our focus as full outs are 3 pts. Matched are 2.

Both are important, and I like your strategy(maybe try it out in the war vs tri instead of kicking our lower members)

Remember guys, Tanking RE is more important than you hitting them imo. If you last 1min+ tanking re and get every other hit in, i think we'll be fine.

I like your first strategy BTO, with having multiple fall in piles when we charge. That might work well to our advantage.

I do not like your idea of having fake hybrids, since if you have the gear you might as well hybrid. What we should do is have two hybrid lures. These hybrids will also be really good tanks, and they will work to get themselves piled by binding the RE fall in leader. TR used this same strategy on us, and it worked well for them.

The key to this war is going to be the snipers. We are not going to be able to get many KOs against RE, and so we need the snipers to soften up our next target, either drain their food or prayer, so that the main pile can easily KO them. Remember, prayer drains just as fast if 40 people are piling a person or if 2 people are piling a person. If we kill people after they have ran out of prayer we are completely wasting our time and should have let the sniper drain their prayer for us.

Unlike the full our war where we can use our numbers to get near instant KOs, in this war we are going to have to go heavy on the sniping. Snipers should make sure to target people that are hybrids, and need to stay on the person being sniped--select two or three targets and stay on them. There also needs to be effective communication so that the fall in leaders know who has been sniped and who they should pile next.

Hybrids are going to be very important in this war since without them the person can keep running across the map. All piles should be on people with hybrid gear. If someone gets rune on and is tanking us well, instead of chasing them to the other side of the map we need to have 3-4 people stay on the person, and then get everyone else to regroup and go in for a new pile.

RE are not going to hesitate to pile our fall in leaders. We can turn this into our advantage if we had a clear chain of command and leaders that can tank. Before the war the fall in leaders should know who they are and where they stand in the order. All fall in leaders must have TS, inf run, high defense (preferably 99), and high magic (preferably 90+). I would advise against piling their fall in leaders, as they probably are ready for it and their leaders will be able to tank us badly. Instead, we should use the hybrid lures to bind and agrivate them.

I understand where your going at here with these strategies.
Imo i think a good thing we can do is how karl said they are going to take out our fall in leaders. We should train more members to be able to call fall ins.

In EoS alot of the regular members are eligable to call fall ins. So raid leaders and fall in leaders are just signs of authority.

Also in karls suggestion binding their leaders is a pretty good tactic but the thing is, if they supposedly get that bind on the leader, whats stopping the other team from binding you and just rushing you considering you are in robes. And since they are pretty high leveled if you dont get that pray and armour on your good as dead.

I think sniping, tanking , organization, hybrids are what is most needed not taking in tactics. Just improve those areas and increase our eligable fall in leaders. Because when all our leaders are down we are done and its happened before.

For people to understand these other fall in leaders wouldnt become raid leaders unless the council thinks they deserve it or spots become open.

Fair point. For maybe the first two tanks, it wouldnt be as helpful for them to carry binds though.

The only problem I see with that is for tanks that arent experienced for hybriding. In an intense fight with RE, we cannot afford ANY Kos.

Snipers are gonna play a huge role in the matched, I cant argue against that. We're gonna need a great anti-snipe, especially with infinite run.

As for their fallin leaders, even the best tanks cant tank +30 of us easily if our hybrids are at their prime.

One thing to mention.
If we have "Fake hybrids" meaning people bringing robes for the sake of getting piled, then it would be stupid not to just have them bring the runes for bind and use it. After all if they are trying to get piled anyways, why not get some binds in before doing it?
Edit - Karl beat me to it sad.gif

I like the mini pile idea too, it's good.

One thing I was thinking was possibly splitting WG into two groups and being on opposite side of the warzone, and hopefully if we have a big enough number advantage, we can take out 2-4 of them early, and then combine to one big force.

That would be a pretty good idea. We'll probably bring around 60 ppl, so about 30 people per group. People cant tank too long with 30 ppl + efficient hybrids. We'd be able to use that for the fullout

I assume it is the full out you are talking about. That would be a good strategy if I was confident that we could KO them with 30 people. Especially with infinite run, we need to be sure we are getting quick KOs. I think we should keep our pile together, it is not worth the risk of having them tanking us.

Mini-piles will work well in the matched opts, because it is pointless having 30 people chasing after a tank just to drain that tank's prayer.

EDIT for Kero: As a hybrid lure, you want to get piled but not KOed. In order to do this the hybrid lure needs to keep some distance from the fall in leader, or do what TR primarily did and hide behind the wall when binding the leader.

Kero, I think talking strategy is actually important. Just having good organization is not enough, you need to know how to apply it according to the scenario you are in.
