2v1
By Tnuac on 12/06/2008
OK, well I picked up this idea from the allied clan war.
When it gets to the point where snipers pick off random people, and neither team is piling properly, its boring as hell. Its more fun watching paint dry. I'd rather spend my RS time killing chickens.
What I've found is the best solution to pointless 1v1s is teaming up. When someone has 2 people on them, they're most likely going to pray and run. While they waste prayer and food, the other 2 waste nothing, and end up getting a kill. Its the perfect solution.
It may be in practice already, but its not standardised. We have plans for the start of the war, then at the end its like 'well uhh try and stick to the pile, but if not do w/e...'
We need it common practice to have 2 v 1, and never 1v1. Even if it takes people off the main pile, it IS worth it, becasue there's no chance of getting a KO at this stage. Practically, you should have people pairing up and picking off people, so that we're on the offensive side and they're on the defensive. We have one of our members tanking the rest of them, and encouraging this. The result is a guaranteed win.
I'm not sure on the extent this is done already, but it seems a much more sensible option. If someone wants to correct me, feel free.

sounds like a good idea to me ye if you are sniping it would make more sense to have 2 ppl fight 1 person bigger chances of them running rather than standing their ground
good idea tnuac

Thats not a bad idea Mike. Sometimes we already do this but I think it's just randomness lol.
By Tnuac on 12/06/2008
I think for most clans it is randomness, which is what makes it so hit + miss.
Clans tend to have the single plan of pile, bind, and KO. The end of the fight is dismissed when really, its potentially the most important bit.
If we work out a difinitive plan for any occasion, we can have a much better chance of success.

Or : Whenever you see someone doing a 1v1 , help them out and when they start running go back to main pile together.
By Karlfischer on 12/06/2008
Lol, that is why I generally just attack whoever I want at the end of the fight. If you can get them to run, that is one less person attempting to kill your teammates, while at the same time you are draining their food and prayer.
I agree, we should create some kind of standardization for the usually chaotic tactic. Give it a fancy name...like swarming.
I say we take a book (or page...whatever) from the behavior of actual swarms, where a group of animals behave like a single organism without actually having a leader. Take for example a school of fish, it moves in unison and is very organized, yet has no leader fish coordinating its movement. Rather, its the movement of fish in a school is governed by a series of rules such as follow the fish ahead of you, maintain the same distance from the fish around you so that if they move you move, and move out of the way of any predator trying to eat you.
We could create a set of rules that govern how we attack our enemy in a seemingly chaotic situation with no actual leader. Such as:
1. If you see an enemy nearby in hybrid gear, attack them.
2. If you see someone attacking one of us in hybrid gear, attack them until they stop or the hybrid is able to tank.
3. If there is a 1v1 fight, join in and help.
4. If someone on the other team is being attacked by two or more people, but yet has not turned prayer on, attack them until they turn prayer on.
5. If there are more than three people attacking a person who is running, get off the pile. If that same person stops running, attack them again.
The rules are prioritized, so even if there are people currently occupied attacking, if an enemy nearby puts on hybrid gear there should be about 5 people who instantaneously switch piles.
Note that swarming, or whatever you want to call it, will only work well in situations where it is 20v20 or less.

i think this may work and is a great way for them to get pray up. Especially if we cant ko some1. If you cant ko them they will tank till their pray is gone most of the time so basically during that time getting another persons pray down would be beneficial.

When I get lost, I hit a random hybrid on my way to the pile
When someones getting snipped and I dont have hybrid robes out, I turn around and smack em
At the end, I snipe to relieve pressure off our tank.
If I see a 1 on 1, I sometimes will join in if I dont have hybrid robes out

Okay, feel free to ignore me if I sound completely stupid...
But when massing for the war, set up a small (2-5) team of random snipers. They work together, making their own smaller pile on who ever they find vulnerable. More like what Karlfischer said, but not involving the whole clan. Just that small group.
By Crucio01 on 13/06/2008
Good idea but if we do this they will be picking our members off with their own pile wont they? And a good clan wont have members running around doing 1 vs 1, most of them will be on the main pile.
By Jayson on 13/06/2008
why dont we do what tabs said, and that team runs around the back and rapes them from behind

We essentially already do that. We have designated anti-snipers. The problem is, when the war gets into the low numbers, we need almost everyone doing it because its the most efficient way.
Think about it, when there's 8 WG on 1 target, he's just gonna keep prayer on, run, eat. You can't KO him, you just have to wait till he's out of food. If someone does the same thing for 2 people, why not split into 2's and quadrupple the targets?! If they're not attacking, they're sitting ducks.

But this is what I'm saying. They have all their men on one target. That one target will last until his food is out, because he won't get KOed unless he's utterly incompetant (he/she, whatever). If, while they're doing this, we target members of their pile 2 on 1, they have more people wasteing prayer and good, and less people attacking.
The only thing to consider is when someone's prayer runs out. If there's enough people to get a confident KO (maybe 10+) it would be worth temporarily switching. This does require organisation though.
By Tmal34 on 13/06/2008
Tnuac your idea is good in theory but it might not work out.
Consider back in the day when we would pile switch. Here is what would happen.
At the end of the fight we would lose and it would turn out that they had 5-10 people left who were out of prayer and low on food, but through picking us off one by one they were able to beat us faster than we could beat them doing the mass technique.
Let's say hypothetically it is a 20 v 20 fight.
5 minutes into the fight it is 20 v 15, we are losing.
Now most of their members will be low on prayer and food at this point going with your strategy, but will our 15 members be enough to make up the difference?
If they keep killing us, then that is less and less members that we have able to finish them off.
Like one thing I go back to a lot is thinking that we should always be attacking someone without their prayer on. It is common logic, you hit 20 without prayer, 10 with it. Therefore you should attack someone without, and your efficiency is maximized. However I realized that the same situation as I layed out above occurs. All you do is partially kill their whole clan and never finish anyone off since you dont have a pile big enough to do so.
