Timezones...WTF!

By Karlfischer on 14/06/2008
The times on the warzone topic itself were wrong! I am amazed that no one noticed this. 2pm EST corresponds to 6pm GMT. It was listed on the topic as 7pm GMT.

Since the war is at 7pm GMT, the war should have been at 3pm EST. Someone fucked up on the timezones. Next time lets makes sure we double check the timezones so we do not have the problem today.

I think the main problem is that people do not understand that British time is not the same as GMT. Look at this site, it will clear up your confusion and help us get the timezones straight for the next war.

We pushed for it to be moved back an hour to correspond with correct times, however they decided that clans dont follow daylight savings and said a half hour was max.

Yeah...

It's because at the moment Britain is in BST (British Summer Time)
- GMT+1

Just Remeber that AT THE MOMENT EST is 5 hours behind GMT , then remember that Britain is an hour later than GMT.

Actually, that is not correct. No worries, I know timezones are ridiculous and confusing.

At the moment EST is 4 hours behind GMT. British time is still 1 hour ahead of GMT.

So if it is 7pm EST now, it is 11pm GMT.

EDIT: As you can see from the time stamp.

Karl's right with -4 hours with EST to GMT. I would suggests that some kind of timeclock link is used. I used to use this particular link in the past whenever:

http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/eastern-time/

^ It compares, your own local time to EST to GMT. Also takes daylights into consideration automatically.

- There use to be time clocks of different regions on the forums.
