Leaving members and new members

By Cameronm123 on 15/06/2008
Now you may think i am being too harsh, but in recent days we have had two members leave; Chappell44 & Stokenut.

Stokenut broke his two week resignation and deleted his own forum account, severing any ties he ever had with WG, two days later we welcome him back with loving arms. This is stokenut we are talking about, so this i can understand, he has done alot for Wg.

Chappell44 however, posts a rant of a leaving topic, because of a minor accident that happened within the clan chat, she then spams the channel. After she posted her leaving topic, hours later we welcomed her back, and with no punishment or waiting period.

WG is becomming a door matt. People are beginning to think that they can leave and come back straight away. Ok now to new members.

In the RE war i was told that a large number of new members knew next to nothing about clan war tactics and how to war.

My suggestion is that on the application form we add some war tactic questions. E.g Define the middle boundaries of the clan wars arena. or What is meant by the terms 'Huging' and 'tanking'?

Thoughts?

To get new members to learn how to tank, how to war, I think we should actually find some good war videos (possibly from other clans) and make our new members and inexperienced members watch them.

Watching and learning from how people pile, bind, and tank, will be very helpful, maybe even more so than actually getting first hand experience.

Ideas, comments, suggestions?

Or we could not walk around RS 2 days before a war, find random clanless level 100s and accept them for the war.

Yeah I agree,

In all honesty mass recruiting DOES NOT WORK. We actually pulled LESS people after mass recruiting than we did beforehand, yes this is probably because the times were absolutely bullshit, but still the fact is I saw one, maybe two? mass recruited members there.

In the end 90% of people you find walking around Runescape are not ready for clan's, thats why most of them arent in clan's allready. I did help out with one mass recruiting event, and the results of that have convinced me to not participate in one again, having had endless PM's from one of the people there because they can't even find the 'Introductions' forum?!?!?!

We may have a memberlist of 125 members, with 41 120+ now, but we should really be going for quality, not quantity.

In regard to lauren.

I think it's an absolute joke that she has been let back in no questions asked, she has had one of the worst attitudes around lately, and almost every time she doesnt get her own way she basically has a tantrum.

You may have seen the argument she had with me when she found out I had (correctly I might add) incrased her warn rating, she among other things claimed there was "No evidence", which I have posted on the warn rating increase, and she demanded that I remove it immediately (as if I would.).

She then PM'd me and basically said don't talk to me, I thought you were my friend etc. My response was to tell her if she hates me for doing ym job then so be it. at which point she blocked me in game by the looks.

Hardly a good member of WG, I would be happy to see the back of her.

I agree. When i joined WG, all applicants had to briefly describe hugging and dragging. I'll even show proof, gimme a sec.

ahh, here you go. From my app back in the day:

2. Are you fluent with clan tactics such as hugging and returning?: Yes, hugging is when you run around trees, walls, rocks, to extra time to eat food or such. Returning is when you die in a fight, and you come back with fighting gear to the same place and you are ready for a fight.

There you go, i think we should add that without the returning part.

I am going to review Lauren's case.
I do not want her in WG.
I will speak to Abs about it.

As for questions on tactics, no.
Let's just train our new members ourselves.
They can come in inexperienced and we can show them the ropes.

Come on guys....
I'm sorry Eugene, but every member, when they decide to leave, we are forced to give them 3 days to reconsider. Lauren got like, 1-2 Hours.
She knew what she did was stupid, she apologised heavily to me.
She's been loyal to Wg for a very long time, through wars and through the general knowledge of Rs, I don't think she should be kicked for that, she's just highly emotional.

------------

Let me show you my reasoning to let Lauren back into Wg:

1. She posted a Goodbye topic, right? We DID NOT kick her, did we? Or are we kicking her for spamming in #WgWilderness for questioning not to come to the war? I find that ridiculous, she's really loyal.

2. Instead of getting the 3 days that every member has to reconsider, she got about 1-2 Hours, she did reconsider afterwards and told me personally that what she did was stupid, and apologised.

3. There was no "Case", no one started a topic about "kicking Lauren", she decided to leave on her own accord, we can't turn this back on her into a "Kick".

------------

Besides, anyone would freak out like that if they were waiting for Wg to go to war when she had to go somewhere else. She would think of it as a waste.

Lauren's a good member that comes to every war, why should we kick her just because she gets bitchy when she's kicked from a war accidentally. It shows her dedication to Wg.

Randy's idea in..Level 2? I think, it's very good, you should have a read, I'm going to think about implementing it at the end of the week.

And I also agree with Eugene about the questions part, anyone could really define the terms of hugging, but can they actually tank? It would be better if we took Randy's idea on-board and let Raid Leaders train them every week.

Kick Chappell for 2 weeks or something, that behaviour is unacceptable.
