By Elyxiatic on 17/06/2008
Right now, we're flooded with wg members.
In the last month I've seen this clan go from about 100-->127 members right now.

This is our application form

You look at the above application, ok, there's 8 questions.
Only questions 2-4 require some thought and some words.
What a simple application.
You look around at the other clans out there, and the applications are way longer, and require much more thought than ours.
Here is an example of 2 other clans applications.

Chivalry Legions

[b]19) How did you find out about Chivalry Legions? Was it through the RSC/Friends/Members in CL/Other? [/b]

[b]20)Have you seen the movie Super Troopers? [/b]

There's a lot more "meat" in the application.
Seriously, I know nothing about our current applicants, its just they come in + keep coming in.
Ok, right now you might have the argument that cl is in 2 league's higher than us.
So of course their application would be harder.

However, lets look at the moriquendi.
CODE
1. Runescape name :

2. Stat Picture: (Take a screenshot of your character in game saying something about Mori. Show the whole Runescape screen and your stats.)

3. Timezone :

4. Link to your Introduction:

5. How long have you been playing? :

6. How much do you play a week (hours) :

7. Personality strengths/flaws we should be aware of :

8. What do you want in a clan? :

9. Why would you make a good member? :

10. Have you read the clan rules? :

11. Describe the F2P war equipment you would use if you got into the clan :

12. Who told you about the clan? :

13. What is your username on the forum that you discovered us on? :

14. Do you have a reference? (They must agree and post here) :

15. What previous clans have you been in and why did you leave? :

16. What are the main ways you make money in Runscape? :

17. Additional comments :

Note that the moriquendi is in our same league in cwpl, and the application requires more thought.
That application even makes wg look so easy to get into.

So what I'm suggesting is a change to the application system.
  • Make is harder, we are getting a lot of members, but not a lot of them know how to fight efficiently
  • Start declining some applications
  • Accept quality members, those who show how to fight efficiently
  • Put in a guide to writing introductions, so we actually know more about members
Right now, and I quote, this is an introduction

hi people im Dave biggrin.gif

im 15 and go to school dry.gif i like to go out on my bike alot play football sometimes. ill be on msn most the time im not out and sometimes runescape or xbox live

What the hell.
I don't know anything about him.

So yeah, we need to make our application process harder.
Its just too easy.
We getting ppl like crucio turning up to raids with like 10 binds, and an earth staff, when we just start accepting ppl randomly.
I even saw a zammy stole in some war the other day.
Like wth.
The gear is so easy to buy, but people still don't bring the right stuff.

Our application system should state
  • The more words you write the higher chance your application will be accepted.
  • Any less than 2/3 sentences for any questions is an instant decline.
So please, we have a ton of members atm, start accepting quality ones.

I agree entirely, there's two things that I don't like about our application system.

1. How we accept people who fill out the most garbage applications ever.

2. How easy it is to join, introductions can be like three sentences and no one really cares, and, the whole point of this topic.

Also I've never been a huge fan of mass recruitment and I wish we wouldn't do that so much :\

By ArSeNaLfAn32 on 17/06/2008
100% agreed. We need a screenshot of full war gear and a description of basic war knowledge. We can make something saying like, "Explain what hugging is and how to do it." Explain what hybriding is and explain it.
We definitely should improve our application requirements.

By Winddancir on 17/06/2008
Agreed. I'm rather annoyed due to having to moderate what could have become much worse in a conversation in #WG of Crucio thinking he would make a good raid leader. Ummm.... No, No, No, and in case I didn't make myself clear.... NO!

Hells, when I joined, at least I knew that I was joining skill sector and wasn't expected to know about this. I've picked up a lot of skills since then, I've learned (or tried to anyways...) But the whole point is, we are getting rather lax on who is accepted.

That's a lot of the reason I don't post on many intros or applications any more. I just can't bear to look at most of them.

By Tmal34 on 17/06/2008
I would like to see them be a bit tougher as well.
That does not mean adding length onto the wait time, but instead forcing more effort on the app. And if it means flat out declining people...then go for it.

We have a good amount of members to work with now.
Would be a good time to make them a bit harder.

By Stokenut on 17/06/2008
When I made the introduction system i intended for people to actually put thought and information into their introduction. It seems this is never enforced though.

This is why we need to focus more now on organization above recruitment.

Yeah DZ I agree, I wish we could handpick more people, rather than mass recruit. It would be beneficial to the clan that way. We can get skill/levels, rather than just numbers. However WG has always been a numbers clan.

We should keep trying to get the skill/levels part down now.

By Renoldojr10 on 18/06/2008
I completely agree, it shows the clan world what kind of members we want and that means not the short-cut ones who are on the short side.

Agree.
Some of the members who have joined now have been really bad for the clan.

By Tmal34 on 18/06/2008
Please don't full judge the "mass recruiting" of late as a negative by the way.
It has mostly been Gene and I directly doing it, along with help from others, and I can guarantee you that we got to know each and every person who introed before getting them over here.

Of course we can never know if they will turn out good, but it's not like we are inviting illiterate inactive morons to join tongue.gif

By General199 on 20/06/2008
It has been easy and there are some introductions that are puny. You can see that they where not given any thought and along with applicatiopns, the introductions should be given a sort of guide to go by or a requirement of words of some sort possibly?

By Bambaleo on 20/06/2008
i've stopped telling that since no takes it srious in app manager forums...i wanted to change our application form about 3 months ago...
