More complicated than need be?

By Stokenut on 01/02/2008
I've wondered for a while now what the whole purpose is behind the sectors. The community sector seems to be completely pointless to me. The skills and fighting sectors both have their advantages and disadvantages. However even with those i think... why split your clan in two? Completely excluding one section of the clan from another.

Community -
Why do we need the community sector again? Why does it require all those forums, ranks and it's own memberlist? All this does is increase our workload. It's EXACTLY the same as the emeritus rank, just expanded to make our jobs harder.

Skills -
Sectioned off. The smallest group on the forums. They couldn't attend a fighting event to get the feel for it even if they wanted to. They are deprived access to the fighting forums. Whats wrong? Do you not trust them knowing when our fighting events are or something?

Fighters -
Again, why excluded from the rest of the clan? Sure someone would be in the fighting sector on the grounds that they dislike skilling. But at the same time, you're not exactly promoting skilling by blocking all contact with the skills sector and skilling.

WG is split into 3 sectors. WG is 3 clans. WG used to be one great clan. Now that great clan has been divided into 3 groups creating 3 sectors each with 1/3 the greatness they had before.

I believe that the whole reason for having 3 sectors in this setup is psychology. Eugene's to be exact. I would argue that you want WG to be known by the public for it's 'uniqueness' just like it was for anti-pking. However in the process you've weakened your clan by 66%.

Is it coincidence that WG hag gained no power, only lost power since the sector system was implemented?

Thats how I feel, anyway.

We've had a short talk on MSN and I agree with you 100%.

Well Yes, People can join at 80 Combat + A few skills and see the Fighting Events...Chance of spies to occur. There is no need for them to see Fighting Events if they don't meet the Fighting Requirment. If they do meet the Fighting Req, and they are in just the Skills Sector, it means that they do not wish to attend any Fighting Events, since they enjoy purely Skilling.

They always have the option to add the extra sector of Skilling and attending those events. A Lot of Fighting members don't like the Skills Sector because it's not seen as fun. They see it as a time-waster. I don't understand why we should 'promote' the Skills sector to Fighting Members.

I agree, lots of inactives, don't post. Sooner or later, I will have to make a decision on how much contribution they have to the clan. People like Mike, Jrm, Bobler and the rest are useful to us, they hang around in the IRC and bond with members. These people I like.

This has been an ongoing debate since its installation.
There are clear disadvantages for the sectors, but there is really just one reason I keep them.

I'll respond briefly. I donät have much time.

When you join WG, it is up to you how you want to experience the clan. We have to have the sectors so that people who don't want to skill and people who do not want to PK don't need to get booted for inactivity.

However, you are definitely right in saying it is causing a lot of headache at the moment.

I believe that is because of small numbers. It is rediculous to have sectors for a clan that has 40 active members. The sectors were implemented for a clan of 200. Once we get more members... and by the way I wish you would focus on recruitment more, I feel the sectors will work better.

It's pretty hard, we don't have a spark right now and no one wants to join.

I think we should just keep things alive until Eugene gets back from Europe. Then he can make the RL recruitment video and we can use that to spear our our recruitment campaign.

By DZ on 04/02/2008
I don't think a real life video would do much for recruitment, lets wait and see. Hope I'm wrong.

By Stokenut on 05/02/2008
It will. Once a video of RSC members breaking into Jagex's HQ gets released we're talking HUGE publicity. That tagged along with the recruitment footage is gonna save WG.

By Dorcha3377 on 06/02/2008
Let us hope so.

By His Lordship on 08/02/2008
We can't rely on that alone.
Follow the advice I've been giving in the sticky THE LIST.
And you guys have not done what I asked and posted your part of the list showing what you have done.
