New RS graphics?

I was thinking this over and I would be curious to see what you guys think...

Do you think the New Ultra High-Detail Graphics for runescape will be available to F2p players?

Personally I do think it will be Pay to Play only, why:

-From what I have seen of the new grpahics they are as good, or even better than games such as WOW, LOTR online, and so on. This will be a HUGE attraction to pay for membership if it was members only. If you were f2p wouldnt you go to members for graphics like that?
-It has to have cost them allot, both in designing the new graphics, and no doubt hosting it will cost a bit too.
-they have allready said high detail and low detail will run alongside it as well, meaning it wouldnt really effect f2p if they had to stick to the old graphics.

ooo, you have a good point, but i dont think they would, they have been focusing on updates for both f2p and p2p recently, maybe they will give it as abit of a tease and leave it f2p for a short period then make it p2p, but i doubt they wouldnt make it f2p

they could use it to attract alot more players, this is needed to keep their numbers up after the wildee fiasco. so making it p2p only wouldnt really make people want to pay just for graphics when the game is worse

I would say no, because it will have no adverts on it. Therefore Jagex arn't advertising anything to f2p players. Also, it would've cost them that much they make it, they have a team who write them progrmas capeable of creating stuff like that. We'll have to wait and see though.

I mean think about it, SwiftSwitch got banned for not showing adverts on f2p. And advert blocking is against the rules because it's paying for f2p. Them getting rid of that would bankrupt them.

I dont think the new graphics are exclusively full-screen....

They have released all there screenies so far in that format, probably because it looks better like that.

I'm actually pretty sure that they will make it both p2p and f2p.

I highly doubt they will make it f2p because, 1 they want more people to become members and 2 cuz of the advertisements

Of course it will , just because they dont show the advertising stuff on the picture means it won't be there.
They will probably put it somewhere else.

According to the Development dairy the Graphics will have its seperate selection e.g. Low, High and New Details. So i expect that it will be available for F2P. It's gonna be a pain taking Screenshots though.

Well, if it wasn't, wouldn't they have to either create to entirely different like server things (I don't know the terms, but what I mean is one good one to support new graphics and they other to keep it shitty), or totally avoid the f2p area?

Jagex would not spend that ammount of time and money on developing a new graphics system that would be free.

will prob be both. I mean their purpose is to get more p2p members. If they can get more ppl to start playing rs and not wow or games like that more will go to rs, which means more to p2p.

I don't think they will surpass that of other MMO's, even LOTR.

Java is a slow programming language, and eventually JaGeX is going to have to dump it for something else.

I think Jagex trying to make it so that these new graphics will attract more players overall, and then get a lot more p2p subscribers from there on.

Nah, judging by the minimum specs of the new detail, and from what Mocha has stated, I doubt the new "Ultra-High" graphics will surpass the quality and detail of such games like World of Warcraft or LOTRO. Though, this sounds like a decent update in the making....

Lol these graphics arn't going to be better than WoW's. I've seen the screenies. Blizzard has over 5 years of graphical experience on Jagex. They are on a whole other level. Jagex is just starting to play with shading, cmon now. It's still a big step for Jagex, hope they do well.

i would say yes that would be rather stupid if they didn't make it f2p since why would you deprive f2p players from enjoying better graphics just because they don't want to be a rs member?

If you can only play the new graphics on full screen mode, then I doubt they will be f2p. Mainly because I doubt you can see Ads on full screen.

It would most likely be for both members and non members. If you come to think about it, they're Runescape graphics after all. Nobody specified who they're made for.

I think they might have it for f2p or a week or a month to show how good they are. That would attarct people to come and get p2p i think. Thats my thought

i'm thinking both f2p and p2p as they should've been clever enough (although past experience may cause me to think they're not) to have specified already if it was p2p only
