Abs
By Tmal34 on 19/07/2008
I'll make a post here as a formality since they are my feelings and I would like to share them.
What I have to go by is my history in council.
That is the knowledge and experience I have.
What I remember was Gene almost PLEADING with us to do things on our own. He didn't want to have to say ok to everything. He wanted us all to step up and be primary leaders in our own ways and he would only be there to act as council generally and to solve disputes.
What I see now is totally different.
I see you making plans and deciding that you are the only say that matters, and then if part of your plan you aren't sure about, you ask us, and that only makes you more sure so you deny what we said and do your own thing anyways.
Council is a team.
I realize that your rank is primary leader, and through that you get to be the "final say". However that does not mean that WG is a one man show. WG got to where it is through the efforts of many many people, not just one.
At this point I feel like "Council" is not representative of our rank. We are not a group that discusses the future of WG. We are a group that is here for you to rule.
So I need to know if that is the direction you want to go in.
I don't know what kind of guts the rest of council has, but I know that generally they agree with what I have posted here, and I truly hope they post.
There is a general frustration that I would like to see resolved and it's time to do it.
I do hope you don't take this personally, but your reaction is yours to choose.

Hmm yeah I agree but I don't think Abs has been a total dictator or anything... just in some situations.
DZ has guts!

Yeah I tried to avoid the word dictator because it really wouldn't reflect who Abs is.

Well Thomas, I have never tried to give that message across. I have never told the Council to come to me first if they are going to do something, if they want to do something of their own, they can, by posting in Level Four so that we all agree on the idea. The reason why I jumped at you for making that Staff forum is because I had no say in it and well basically I felt left out when you suddenly came up on saying "I'm going to make a Staff forum". I did not know what it was about at the end.
The Council IS a team, and I feel that everyone should have their say on new ideas and stuff you will implement into the clan.
With the Mentor system, I have done so, I have made a Level Three topic and that Level Three topic gathered around 15 posts. I took the idea further (Dalejamesw's initial idea) and started to implement it...ALL I WANTED was some advice from my Council Members.
It's like how you made the Staff thing, I'm sure as hell that if we chat about it on IRC I would disagree to some things, but you didn't make a meeting for it, because it wasn't necessary, but I wanted help for this mentoring thing, I wanted to check if everyone was ok with my plans, if they weren't, they could ALWAYS argue with me, I can change my mind quickly, and just because I said something once, it does not mean it's final, if you have a good argument and good reason for your idea, I probably will take it into consideration, I'll let you fight for what you want.
How you said, "I think there should be only 10 Mentors", and I went "1 Each", you didn't say anything longer, so it seemed as though you did not feel strongly about it, if you did, you would have stood up to me and explained to me how I was wrong and how you were right.
I welcome Rants, Suggestions & Compliments with all much appreciation. I am not the "Dictator" you see me, I will always listen to Council.
Like Evil was argueing with me about the thing where you need only Guardian+ to be a mentor, he did not like it because he felt they would not know how Wg works in that little time. He suggested 1 Month after Graduation. I changed my mind later on in the day and agreed with Evil.
Sometimes when you ask first, it's not always given.
I love the idea of Council doing it themselves, but as you say, there has always been a "Final Say" Like "Quality Assurance", it happens everywhere. That's all I request, I respect Council the most in the clan, without them, I will nowhere, and I don't like them against me.
Your opinion is your own, if you feel I am a slight Dictator, that is your gut feeling, I will not try to dismiss it, but please don't try to shove in my face when my opinion is that I think that it is not. Sarcastically saying "Heil Abs" will NEVER rub me in the right direction.

I'll be honest, I was seriously pissed off with you after that meeting yesterday where you basically were the only one who seemed to think that as long as you have graduated you can be a mentor, and am glad to hear that you re-thought that decision.
What annoyed me more though was when you had 2 tertiaries and me all saying 'no we dont like that' you basically shut us down, in fact your response was to say "right this meeting is over, I shall discuss this with eugene".
I have no problems with you talking to Eugene ifyou so wish, I still do occasionally, but i think it is utter bullshit that you will take his oppinion over a council member, it makes me feel like the only aspect of council I have actually got is a pretty orange name. I get enough disrespect from members over banning of members, i didnt expect to see the same lack of respect from you.
This all revolves back to what I said before Tmal and Rob got council Abs, you do not listen to us nearly as much as we feel you should. This whole mentor situation is actually really pisses me off because when I came into council it was one of the first Idea's I posted, and guess what, you totally ignored it (see "my plans for the next few months").
Ever wondered why I stopped posting new idea's?
By Abmanju on 20/07/2008
I have never said that I would take Eugene's opinion over a Council member. My opinion is my own, and only I can change that, I will decide what my opinion is, it's the same with everyone else. I see nothing wrong in asking my personal friend for some advice. Once again, I only take his advice if I see fit.
I feel strongly about the Mentor system and how it would help our clan, I see this as the project assigned to me, I'm sure if you wanted to do it, you could have posted a topic about it earlier and started to get it done. I was just trying to complete another task that had to be done, since NO ONE else was going to do it, I DID.
Listen Evil, the fact is that, I did not have to consult to you about it, I could have just went on and started the mentor programme my way, but no, I held a meeting to gather the opinions of Council, and I know that they influence me greatly, which they did.
I'm sure you've all held "Projects" before and that you did not consult to me for every single step, which I am very much proud of and would like to see more.
Please, post new ideas and do them yourself, I don't want to nag you and try to bring this clan up by myself, I see Level Three+ as the people who will change Wg. There is nothing that can corrupt my view on that.
This is not a "One Man Show", I have NEVER tried to portray that, you are using the small sample of this mentor programme to depict how I am a dictator, which is not true.
I don't try to hold all the "Power" to myself, as you can see, I like a lot of Staff, and you know that, people have gone against me about a lot of staff before, but I feel that a lot of staff equals to a good clan because working as a team is important. Everything you said in that post Tmal is not what I am. I would not have 13 Staff Members if I didn't believe in "Working as a Team".

P.S. - Also Evil, if it was "Your idea", Why didn't you implement it? You had quite a lot of time.

Because when I asked for YOUR thoughts on it (its like the second to bottom thread) you ignored the goddamn thread.
And no this is not the first time we have complained about you not listening.
