Hey WG, Pali here with an important post (although what posts of mine aren't of uber importance?).
I stumbled upon a website by the name of FreeRice.com, which is a non-profit organization which with your help, donates grains of rice to the hungry.
All you do is play a vocabulary game which involves picking out a synonym for a word that's given to you from a list of four words. There are 60 levels of difficulty of which the game will automatically pick words out of depending on how many questions you get right or wrong. For each question you answer correctly, you donate 20 grains of rice to the charity to eventually be shipped to the less fortunate around the globe. The money to buy the rice is given by the ad supporters on the website. So while your 20, 100, or 1000 grains may not seem like a lot, in the grand scope of things, it adds up to be HUGE.
Since the website launched in October of 2007, over 39,470,700,000 grains of rice have been given towards the cause. Over 54 million grains of rice alone were donated yesterday. So with your help in partnership with FreeRice, you're helping feed thousands of people every day.
Here's one video of how FreeRice is effecting, and more so saving, peoples' lives:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=9pyIN2zfQ9w25 thousand people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. Most of them, children. Let's help and reduce this number.
Thanks
