Cheating Keyloggers

By Kiwi011 on 28/07/2008
Ok well I have a question about keyloggers. Can you pass them(if you have one) by lets so my password for this forum is hax0r, if i put hellofahaxy0urusin in the password area then delete the ellof, ha, y, u, and sin and it leaves only hax0r left, can you fool the keylogger and make it fail?

Just a question since I have been wondering.

From my knowledge key loggers don't work that way. They're programed to copy what you've entered in to the password field. They don't work in the fashion of "oh hey, he typed "hellofahaxy0urusin" lets use that. They work more like this "He entered "hax0r" as his password and then pressed okay, it was accepted therefore that is the password". And then that password gets logged in and sent to the maker of that program. And then there goes your account. There are anti-keylogging softwares though. I personally don't use them. If you are suspecting that there's a key logger on your computer. Try download activeports (http://www.download.com/Active-Ports/3000-2085_4-10062969.html). The program lets you know basically every process going on as well as gives you the IP of each source. So if you know a bit of hacking yourself, you can not only find the keylogger, but find out where it came from and hack the shit out of the person responsible for it.

Hope that helps tongue.gif

So i was intreaged by your question and borrowed a few key loggers from my friend, and lo and behold most of them well, all but the one that was made to capture everything, So they work on taking what was entered into the password thing, so i don't think that it would work that way.

Not to my knowledge. Working in networking I come across many viruses, some physical some on none. Most key loggers are based on the principle of simply catching "keystrokes" for instance exactly what buttons you push on your keyboard, and typically do not record what is put into certain fields.

I make keyloggers at work hash.png

Well... they log key strokes and pass the character string to other functions or devices.

Just console applications...I"m sure I could bring it out to a full windows application. If i make one will someone test for me?

I have keyscrambler its addon for firefox. It basically just changes what the systems read when i am typing like i could be typing hello, it would log into the system anything random like dgko biggrin.gif

''KeyScrambler Personal encrypts your keystrokes at the kernel driver level to protect what you type from keyloggers.

When you type on your keyboard, the keys travel along a path within the operating system before it arrives at your browser. Keyloggers plant themselves along this path and observe and record your keystrokes. The collected information is then sent to the criminals who will use it to steal from you.

KeyScrambler defeats keyloggers by encrypting your keystrokes at the keyboard driver level, deep within the operating system. When the encrypted keystrokes reach your browser, KeyScrambler then decrypts them so you see exactly the keys you've typed. Keyloggers can only record the encrypted keys, which are completely indecipherable.''

Might not answer your question but should help if you wanna keep safe etc. happy.gif

Lol, jst get rid of it. I have a key logger for personal use. It's for my own computer and I can monitor what goes on. But anyway, get ad aware or what ever and get rid of a key logger. Don't waste time trying to make it fail.

Some of that I believe, some of that I don't. Like here's an obvious one, if it's "completely indecipherable" how the hell does the program decrypt it's own encryption algorithm?

Any algorithm can be replicated/decrypted. some easier than others. Theres other more complicated stuff that I won't get into.
