100 push-up challenge!

I read about this recently on the THE forums and decided to try it out. It'd be insane to work up to 100 push-ups in only six weeks, but it'll be interesting to see how far I can get.

I'll be using this thread to document my progress. If anyone else is interested you can make a post here and edit it as you go as well.

I think if I'm doing it along with other people I'll be less liable to neglect it. tongue.gif

Initial count: 29 push-ups before starting the program.

First Week:
Monday: 10/10/8/6 + 15 extra.
Wednesday: 12/12/10/10 + 23 extra.
Friday: 15/13/10/10 + 40 extra.

Second Week:
Monday: 12/12/9/7 + 37.
Wednesday: 16/13/11/11 + 36.
Friday: 15/15/12/12 + 36.

Third Week:
Monday: 25/17/17/15 + 31.

Im in rank 4 for under 40, i can do 42 pushups w/ my head looking up and back straight(good form pushup)....

thinking about doing it, but most likely ill give up...as i usually do one i start working out.....

For about 4 months now i've been doing over 200 push ups a day. 100 in the morning 100 in the afternoon.
It is good to alternate with crunches.
Use the pyramid
10 push up
10 push up 20 crunch 10 pushed
10 p 20 20 10
kinda like
10
10 20 10
10 20 20 10
10 20 10 20 10
10 20 20 10 20 20 10

110 pushups
140 crunches

works well

I used to do 100 pushups and 100 situps everyday.


My whole body hurt after a few days L

you'll just hurt your wrists. And 100 push-ups isn't that much actually, i'm sure you'll make it.

I've gone to the gym every day for the past 3 weeks.
I prefer weight training over pushups even though I know they are good for you.

i did 30 initial test. thought i could do more lol clearly i underestimated push ups =P. did the day 1 thing today too. i might just do like 2 day schedules each day. 1 in the morning and 1 at night. hell got nothin better to do, and it might speed up results

I'm at 50 consecutive pushups now, but I was at 20-25 when I first started.
29 is pretty damn good for a starting point.

Keep at it, man.

I did 34 initially and then 15/15/15 2 minutes later. I recover fast because I'm an endurance runner tbh.

i was actually about to start, but then i got a call from my friend saying he just got 5 kegs of beer for free.

....maybe i'll finish the push-ups later.

Wow, I'll be damned this actually works. A week ago I could do 29 consecutive push-ups. Today I did 40 AFTER doing 15/13/10/10 over the previous 10 minutes. This is cool. omghash.gif.png

Re-Bumping the topic n stuff


Ffs, everyone's so damn good. I swear my arms just don't wanna get any stronger. Progress is so slow.

Just tried now and i pulled off about 22 diamond/tricep pushups, after doing a few planches and handstand pushups. I'll try fresh over the weekend, but i'm sure it won't be much more. It'll be under 30

i've been doing this challenge as a small motivation for my weight loss...the thing about it is that it seems instead of getting stronger i'm getting weaker since it's rather hard to do just regular push ups.

15 is my limit. probably if i lose more weight the number will increase

It's definitely something that requires work you have to keep at to work your body and build endurance. Even myself I can only do around 30 - 40. I weight 215 now but even when I was weight lifting at my prime I was only doing around 40 even though I was able to curl 60 lb per arm (3 sets, 8 - 10 reps) and bench press 180 (3 sets, 6 - 8 reps full extension and to the chest).

Anyways, I'm up for trying this. It's midnight right now but I'll give it a go in the morning, I just don't want to get the blood flowing and then trying to sleep. tongue.gif

P.S. I'm gonna make a new thread for this just so we can start it up a fresh push up challenge and have people who want to join in. Sound good?

ball your fists, this way your arms are straight, or grip onto two arm weights and use them as a base, your wrists will be straighter and not all of your body weight wont be all on your wrist joint but throughout your whole arm/shoulder.

Yeah what zooby said, i always do stuff on my fists now. If your reall concerned, where a slip-on tubular bandage or something, i always use wrist protection for breakdancing. Its still like walking into a fire after spraying yourself with water, because it'll knacker the wrists anyway, but meh hash.png

I tried this challenge and got to ~23 and just havent been able to get higher since. Its like i've reached a limit, really annoying

Yeah I know about the fist thing but I dun like to do it haha

damn, 60 - thought I was stronger by now. In a week after lifting at college (on vacation now) I'll be right at 100 I bet
