[Edit] 2 Weeks notice.

By JC on 07/08/2008
Yup, the straw has broken the proverbial Camels back.

Because I know that WG won't cope with another council member leaving I am putting my resignation off for 14 days, however on the 21st of August I will be posting my two weeks notice in Hello's and Goodbyes.

I will do an extended version in here of what I want to say.

~Evil

--Edit-- I dont intend to leave WG, just resign as council and go to Emeritus/Elite (not sure which yet).

I will be posting my public 2 weeks on Friday the 15th of August.

Fuck it, I have realised dragging this out is killing me inside so I am posting this in one hour.

Enjoy your early read.

All Great things must come to an end...
And what a great time it has been for me, so I’ll start off with a short history of my time in WG:

My time in WG

I first created an account on WG forums all the way back in early may 2006, after wondering what was taking up all of one of my good friends, Valdremia’s, time. I soon found that WG had to be one of the friendliest clan’s around and shortly afterwards in mid June I took the plunge and posted a fairly lengthy introduction.

And a little under two weeks later this was followed by my application to become a “Skills Guardian”:

I fairly swiftly began working on graduating, and soon graduated:

Which I still like to go back and laugh at every so often, comments like this one still make me smile:

QUOTE (Theevildead2)
I was assigned Jordan/Jrm_04 as a mentor, someone I allready would have said was a friend, and I have to say I thoughrougly enjoyed being his mentee, and he certainly helped me to learn why NOT to stake (I dont know how many times I have seen the two words 'stake' and 'cleaned' associated with his name in the same sentence)

Anyway, I’m drifting off the topic…

Then barely a month later I was doing what I had sworn I would never do after my 6 months as the leader of “The Legacy” a small clan that I had been in previously, I decided to step up and take on the role of Skills Leader to help build up the then quite small “Skills Sector” thus beginning the near on 1 year of leadership which has shown its fair share of up’s and Down’s….

Some of the highlights of my time in WG:

-The 2007 “Big event of the year”
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb127/L...aco/Collage.jpg
I have to say this is the best event I have ever been to, and will possibly be the best event I will ever go to….. You haven’t lived until you have experienced a ‘market crash’ or an cabbage bomb in W2 fally….

-The first Skill Olympics
This was possibly the first time I truly ‘no lifed’ a skill, and I soon found that my crafting XP gain had exceeded the rest of the team combined (and it was more than the whole opposing clan’s too hash.png)

I guess to be honest those are the two times that have stuck with me the most in my WG history, the ‘big event’ being the longest event I have ever stayed on RS for, lasting something in the region of 4 hours? Epic doesn’t even begin to describe it.

And after 14 months in WG I have been trusted with a variety of positions ranging from Skills Leader to Moderator, to finally the rank that I hold now…. Council.

But once again all great things must come to an end, and it has been a great 14 months.

So why am I leaving?

So where do I start? I will admit that it is both my real life issues as well as clan issues that has brung me to this stage , but basically here is an outline of why I’m throwing in the towel:

My IRL situation
I know I’ve gone on about this a fair bit, but the variety of issues that I have to deal with is getting ridiculous. Obviously my hand is the base of most of these problems, but it has caused a massive amount of follow on effects that is really messing me up at the moment and as a result I have pulled out of university and will be moving home to live with my parents as soon as they get back from a holiday to Samoa.

My time in WG
Allot of you may not realise, but I have been in some form of a leadership position since I first joined WG. Of course I have asked for those roles and have loved the experience that it has given me, however there gets a stage where I no longer have the energy to keep on going. I feel that after 12 months it is time for me to take a break and let someone else have a go.

My Modship
Yes this has changed the way I look at RS allot. Most of all it has placed a few restrictions on what I can and can’t do in game which has meant a slight decrease in my ability as a council member.

My ability being questioned
While this is only one of the reason’s I am leaving it has been the thing that has tipped me over the edge. I am quite proud of the amount of work I have put into WG over the last 12 months and some of the things people have said to me recently have made me realise that regardless of what I do the work I put into WG almost always goes unnoticed.

Among others I have recently been called “uncommitted” along with more than one person suggesting that I don’t really do that much for WG, and more than anything that made me realise that my work for WG has been like climbing the second highest mountain in the world, in the sense that it is still a massive amount of work, but only your real friends notice or care.

So yeah…. It’s been a great 14 months, possibly the best 14 months of my RS career but it is time for me to resign from my current role as a WG council member. I am not going to do shoutout’s because I don’t want to write a list that covers honestly half the clan.

I am going to say thanks to 3 people though:

Valdremia – I don’t know how soon you will read this, however you are the person that caused me to join WG and honestly it has been a great time. I really hope to have time to talk to you on MSN/TS sometime in the near future.

Jrm_04- This guy is the proof that mentoring works. Though you’re nowhere as actives as you once were I still really enjoy every chance that we have to catch up, and I will no doubt get to talk to you over the next few weeks.

Anatcrafter- What can I say? Ever since we met you’ve been a great guy, but at the end of the day you are pretty much the least selfish person I know. Regardless of what you’re doing you are always happy to help out and I really appreciate it. You know where to find me hash.png

Don’t be upset that I didn’t mention you, because I can say with 100% honesty these 3 people are those who I have been closest to in my 14 months in WG. Ironically note they are all Australian or in a similar timezone…. No surprise there.

I would like emeritus if possible.
