An Amazing Experience
By Sonixpber on 12/08/2008
Sleep can be rather boring sometimes, with uninterested and meaningless dreams occuring. But what if you could take control of those dreams and be able to do whatever you want? Realizing you are dreaming and taking control is what you would call a "Lucid Dream" or LD for short.
If you have never experienced a lucid dream, I must say it is one of the most amazing experiences I have ever felt. It is a technique that can be learned. I used to be able to lucid dream when I was younger (Around 10 or so) with no practice whatsoever. Unfortunately several years later I haven't experienced one LD, and I did not know that it was possible to practice it. I thought it just kind of happened. This website can explain it better than I could:
http://www.dreamviews.com/My first lucid dream:
I'm not sure what triggered my lucidity, but it happened only 2-4 days after reading dreamview's website. It was rather difficult to control my lucidity. Sometimes I would lose it and slip back into the clueless dream world. Many times I've had false awakenings (FA) which are annoying but can be worked around. Let me tell you that there are two top things that almost everyone wants to do in their lucid dreams. And they both happened to me. First, I was flying. It was the first thing I did when I became lucid, because its always so exciting. There was then a period of confusion, I was unsure whether or not I was awake yet (I wasn't). And then I had the oh-so-desirable lucid sex. From what I've read on the dreamview boards, this isn't uncommon at all. Some people had some LOL-worthy stories that you may want to read.
Someone had the great idea of lucid flying + lucid sex at the same time. The two greatest things about lucid dreams mixed in one? That would be fun

.
I'm going to be angry if I don't get another LD tonight.
Discuss your lucid dreams here, or methods of becoming lucid or any fact you found interesting. The website also has their own forums where users go into much more detail.

it's probably a typo for LSD
By Eregion2 on 12/08/2008
It isn't, it's just being able to semi-wake-up while you're dreaming and then exert mental control over your dream. I've been able to do it very slightly on a few occasions, and most people I think have experienced it to an extent when they're in a yes/no position (you wake up enough to realize you're dreaming, usually during something somewhat unpleasant, and you can then pull yourself out of the dream). It's entirely unrelated to drugs.

I have them all the time, maybe once a week and ive noticed its in the stage of sleep where you no u can wake up but don't want to and stay asleep dreaming the dream till some thing fucking wakes you up, like an alarm clock, but I can never remember them for very long unless i try too......

Instead of looking at this topic, making a couple funny posts, then leaving why don't you try it? There really is no reason not to be interested, almost everyone I know would want to be able to do this. It doesn't take much work, and its really fun. I hate when people are joking around about the subject as if its not real or not possible.

Sounds related to drugs to me. :|

Lmao, nah. I know what you're talking about Mike. It's happened to me once or twice. They were cool, I guess? Lol. I hardly remember any of my dreams, so to me, I don't really care about dreaming.

i don't really know...it would be nice to be able to ontrol your dreams but...who needs dreams when you have rl where you have 100% control of it. If you try you can live it instead of trying to dream it. Well having sex while flying would be a hard one..but still possible

Wanna try? We'll go sky diving naked.
But I think we should deploy the parachutes before we sex, because if we wind up getting too into the sex, we'll wind up smashing our faces.

dude alot of my dreams are like this. i brought it up to my mom when i was little and she thought i was nuts. its not like watching a movie, you feel like you are really there and you can control things. you realize you are in the dream and thats when you start being able to change things
EDIT: and yea one of the first things i did was fly too =X
By Tezza Rulz12 on 12/08/2008
Haha I had control of ma dream this morning! I woke up about 10 times but my bed was comfortable enough to slip right back to another dream ^^
By Ragingwealth on 12/08/2008
For me its mostly romantic xD
The last one I had was amazing, though. I dreamed I was in a prison having some sort of deal with the top guy there and being friends with him, then breaking out AND returning because I thought its cool there, I cant describe it fully because I kinda forgot most of it when I woke up, but man it was an awesome dream
By Bobster125 on 12/08/2008
I'd rather not have control of my dreams, granted you don't remember most of you dreams, or sometimes just little bits of them. With dreams i thinks it's better not having control of your dreams, makes it seem abit more exciting maybe, you don't know what's going to happen.

The dreams you do remember though... some are pretty weird. o.O
By Mr Death 13 on 12/08/2008
I've never been able to control my dreams even though I've tried
By Sithofwookie on 12/08/2008
i cant control what i do in my dreams yet but i was reading that website and it says one of the first steps to being able to have a lucid dream is "dream recall" so i have been saying "i will awake from my dreams and completely remember them" right be4 i go to bed until i fall asleep, and i havta say every night i have done it i have remembered what dream i had
By Colinwarrior on 12/08/2008
Lucid dreams are awesome. I learned(randomly, without even trying..lol) how to do them several years ago. I had a very long streak in which I could have great lucid dreams, but I have had trouble achieving lucidity lately. I dunno what's wrong.
By Mangomaniac2 on 12/08/2008
3rd or more time that this has been posted on our forums
It sounds cool, but I've never gotten around to doing/trying it. I mean, when I'm asleep, I'm out cold a lot of the time
By Sonixpber on 12/08/2008
Thanks for the input guys. I'm glad I got into it again because it really is fun to do. I'm about to hop in bed and hope I can do it two nights in a row.
By Sonixpber on 12/08/2008
Sorry for double-posting.
Well, I remember one of my dreams last night. I went to see my favorite band in concert. And they absolutely sucked? I never induced lucidity, but when I woke up I realized that them sucking should've made me realize that it can't be real, and that it is a dream. Unfortunately I didn't think of it at the time, but hopefully it'll come with more practice.

I can do it.
My favourite is rescuing the 'love interest' from a fire.

I watched the movie "Waking Life" today. My brother was a lucid dreamer in the past but he never brought it up. I told him that I started doing it and he recommended the movie.
Its sort of worth the watch, but more than half of the movie does not make any sense. I believe its meant to be that way, because its a build up to the parts that do make sense. The ending is a little bit creepy, but overall it was a good movie and it really made me think a lot.
I've read up on "autosuggestion." A lot of people say that it really works. And the method is really simple. As you fall asleep at night, think and/or say out loud to yourself what you want to accomplish that night. You can say "I want to wake up in 5 hours" or "I want to remember all of my dreams" or "I want to have a lucid dream." As long as you truely believe it, and say it in confidence, it will happen. Obviously this is not a surefire way to induce lucidity, but I hear it helps.
Anyways I'm going to bed in a few hours, hopefully something new will happen that I can talk about in the morning.
By Eregion2 on 13/08/2008
That's how it is with me, if I remember my dreams (or come close to lucid dreaming) I can usually predict it before my head hits the pillow just by how I'm feeling that night.
By T Dwag on 13/08/2008
I don't know but I just think sometimes you have dreams for a reason and doing this...It gets addicting, IMO you could easily lose interest in the real world if you could control your environment in your dreams. I'm out but have fun guys

If it's as real as it seems, I don't know it just seems that you could become trapped in a dream =s.
